broadsword Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) No doubt messrs Graham out of it for too long Hoddlemessianic, no people skills Houllierworse buying record than Souness Sturrock terrible route 1 Wurzel VennablesNo no no! have already jammed the Ewood switchboard. Moving to serious candidates- Gordon Strachan possible Otto Hitzfeld (the fans' favourite for the Newcastle job) wouldn't come here, surely are both available without compensation and would grace the Rovers' Manager's job. Managers whom I believe would be temptable to Ewood include- Ian Dowie Mike Newell Worthington at Norwich Good shouts but might not come- Megson don't fancy him as mgr Jewellwhat's he done? Mark Hughesconflict of interest Soon to be available with a variety of attractive baggage- Sven GE no way, no loyalty, no good Available with leggings- Stan Turnip we could do worse! Jolly Giraffe Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Please not Houllier Parkes as a stop-gap Mark Hughes for me
dave birch Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 There are ten or so suitable candidates on this website, aren't there?
Ossydave Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 No more "souness' Blue n White army" being sung from the Blackburn end then eh? How will we cope? Lets just find some geezer with a really bizzarre name that won't fit in with the chant
Lathund Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Strachan is my #1 candidate. And Hitzfeld ofcourse, but there's no way he's coming. Dowie, Worthington and Megson would be OK too. Mark Hughes as well. I actually think Stan Turnip is a good manager, but as he's been at Burnley for so long it's not very likely at all Had it been another club, then he'd be on my list.
Duffer*Norway Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Im a bit sad about this news. Souness is a great caracter. Anyway, its not worth beeing ###### off! We have to look for a new "master"! We have to use time on this one! B. Robson is a good choice. So are Gordon Strachan and Mark Hughes. Maybe we should look overseas.... Its not a easy choice, and "the one" got some huge affect on our future. Will we go down, or maybe fight for a place in Europe. Personally I would like to see Robson in charge, but I got this feeling hes to old. Eriksson would most likley end his England job, he might be a choice. My nr. 1 man is Ranieri!!! The chance for him leaving Valencia is small, but if he would, he is my nr 1. Cross my fingers for Valencia losing their 3-5 next games!
ptholt Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) Bearing in mind that king kenny recommended souey to the board and assuming its possible that souey has left on talking terms and would repay the recommendation favour i would say walter smith is quite a good call. ones i wouldnt want or won't happen - sven (to expensive) alan curbishley (wont happen) terry venables (dont want to see ewood in bunting selling used cars on non match days) glenn hoddle - please hod no possibles - george graham gordon strachan iain dowie walter smith mark hughes hitzfield outsiders - gerrard houlier woy hodgson ranieri - has he got a job yet? scotman Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 strachan or hughes would be brilliant moves, newell also i think would be a good appointment
rock steady Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 eriksson would never come to rovers, and even if he would would anybody seriously welcome him? the man is a fool. i think robson is too old as well, and he would probably bring titus bramble with him
AndyC Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 does anyone know why strachan left southampton?
AndyR Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Strachans wife was ill and he needed an operation and time to recover. He's my choice - I'm not sure who I'd go for as second choice but it needs to be a man of experience not Newell or Hughes.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Whoever it is, it must be someone who can persuade Ferguson to stay!
Wild Irish Rover Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Neil Warnock of Sheff United. Hard as nails, tactically astute, no messing about. Good with the press. Ambitious but never had the resources to back it up. Give him a go.
benhben Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Gordon Strachan would be brilliant, but i very much doubt he would want the job, as he is on his " break from football." We need someone with tactical knowledge and man management skills which souness didnt have. I have a feeling another foreign manager will be brought in, as that seems to be the trend at the moment.
Bobby G Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 No TIME or point to give someone 'a go'.We could go down to division 1 that way.We have to give it to someone with a proven record. Strachan would be reasonable I'd say. Houllier is not that bad,but has he gone stale? Hoddle I wouldnt mind,he is a good manager. Venables,hmm... NO GRAHAM NO SMITH NO Steve 'mercenary' Bruce.
SkinnyBinman Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 (edited) NOT HOULIER. Anyone but him. I know too many Liverpool fans the shame would be too great. OFFICIAL NOT HOULIER CAMPAIGN STARTS NOW. I'd rather have Sam Ternent. Honestly. Edited September 6, 2004 by SkinnyBinman
Duffer*Norway Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 My pre-christmas-gift-wish-list 1. Ranieri 2. G. Graham 3. Sir Robson 4. Hitzfield 5. Strachan If we ever get Houllier / Venables / Hoddle I will never see a blackburn game again before he is kicked again! Anyway, we would probably be in div. 2 with Houllier.
philipl Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Strachan left to have a hip operation- did he have it? I think there was no hiding the fact that he was less than happy with Rupert Lowe. It was McAllistair who left Coventry to look after his very ill wife.
Ninjathunder Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 The best scenario for the following equation: Managers currently available x realistic possiblilty of coming to the club = Gordon Strachan.

Bobby G Posted September 6, 2004 Posted September 6, 2004 Houllier got results with Liverpool. They played boring counter attacking football, but would we mind that if we won games?I dont think so! Anyways Id prefer Hoddle. Strachan,I hate his sarcastic character, but he could be good too.
