broadsword Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 If Newell would be happy to give up his managerial career to become our coach, he is devoid of all ambition. I'm sure he didn't set out on his managerial career with the ultimate aim of being a coach in the Premiership. What makes you think he'd make an able coach? And do you think Hughes would be happy to be told who he should have as coach? Someone who (quite possibly) he's never met before?

Hughesy Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Get them both, Hughes as the number one and Newell as his assistant. It would mean that Hughes could carry on with his Welsh commitments until they found a suitable replacement. We get the best of both worlds Exactly what i said on thursday last week. Two young managers who could really be a force together if it worked
broadsword Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Exactly what i said on thursday last week. Two young managers who could really be a force together Like Batman and Robin? "Hughesy, ya dinner's ready!" "Thanks Mikey! Dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner dinner! Welshman! Holy Halloween, leek omelette!"
MCMC1875 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Put Strachan on as tannoy man and you've got the dream ticket!
Brownie Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Hughes drifted from 5\4 to 3-1 in the space of 5 minutes ! Strachan and Dowie coming in (betting wise)
Uxbridge rover Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Just had a text saying hughes has no intention of quiting wales for blackburn (sky text alert)
promoted2001 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Well there you go. Thats the end of that. Newell anyone?
S15 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Well there you go. Thats the end of that. Newell anyone? Shut up. I don't know if you've noticed, but Newell has the charisma of a paper-clip. Also Hughes will still be our new manager, do you believe everything these people say? If so your just a big fat idiot.

Alan75 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Cut out the abuse, people are just passing on information. Hughes Stays Loyal
Duffer*Norway Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 (edited) If Hughes wont come, I prefere Dowie. HE has good reputation among fans and players, and seems to care about every level at a club, from reserves to the star players. I cant understand Hughes if he dont take the chance. A man who hates loosing more than any, and now he has the chance to have a game every week fighting for a win. What would you choose, Wales or a PL team? Cant be that hard! Hughesy Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Cut out the abuse, people are just passing on information. Hughes Stays Loyal It could be worrying, however i dont think that it means he wouldnt take the blackburn job. Just that he wants to finish the job at wales also.
Uxbridge rover Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Also Hughes will still be our new manager, do you believe everything these people say? If so your just a big fat idiot. I really do hope you are talking about someone else !
Backroom trueblue Posted September 13, 2004 Backroom Posted September 13, 2004 With the right man in charge i think the current crop of players are as good as any outside the top five clubs. The manager isnt coming to a club which needs alot of work we need a manager that can make our current squad perform to their best standards and give 100% each game. Agree with what you're saying there but the one thing that worries me more than anything in the squad of players we have is the total lack of pace. Even a team like Norwich can threaten with the 'out ball' to Huckerby, similarly Pompey-Yakubu, Palace-Johnson but we don't have that in our locker. Most teams in the Prem have that bit of pace about them, especially up front. Nothing we can do about it now mind you, cheers Souey. Isn't Jay Bothroyd supposed to be quick ?
Hughesy Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Keep your eye on betfair. Hughes is now 2nd favourite. Could be good later on to get your bets on him. Just because he says he isnt going to walk out on wales, doesnt mean he wont be our next manager.
Hughesy Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Advocaat has just dropped down quite abit into favourite
Blueheart Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Just heard on the 1 ' clock news that Hughes as stated he has no plans to move to Blackburn. Please ,please dont let it be Houlier or Advocat for the job.I would return my season pass if either get appointed.

SouthAussieRover Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...les_Hughes.html I guess he hasn't ruled out job sharing though?

Yeah we're led to believe he is. Then again we'd all enjoy watching the world class DePedro, Andresen was an exciting talent and Grabbi had a great eye for goal. I'll believe it when I see it.
Dan Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 Stressfull times Not really sure who I would like as manager as none of the listed favourites are 100% certain to do a great job. They are all either unproven/relatively unproven or proven with a dodgy track record at other clubs. Well I guess it's completely out of our hands and we will just have to sit back and pray it's not Houllier or Hoddle, I could just about cope with anyone else. Thinking back though, when we appointed Souness, was everyone on here happy or were they apprehensive? We need to bare that in mind, no matter who we get it can still go pear shaped or go really well! I remember getting Woy and Kidd and being happy and look what happened there!(Well Woy looked to be doing a great job until injuries and "player power" got him sacked).

Lets hope the new manager has better scouts! Did we ever find out who told Souness that Grabbi was a Centre forward who was worth all that money?
Guest Kamy100 Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 ssnews has just reported it The Hughes story that SSN are running is old. It first came out in the press on Saturday.
