John Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 The weirdos on 606 are saying this The Lancashire Evening Telegraph understands that Mark Hughes is ready to be appointed as the next manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club. Rovers officials are believed to have held talks with Mark Hughes yesterday. He will continue to manage Wales on the short term and assess the situation on their qualifying chances after their next couple of games. He is expected to take charge following the Portsmouth match so his first game is expected to be against Bournemouth which may draw some extra fans for that match.

broadsword Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 1864, he does it to himself. Everyone else can stick to the one thread, and in general to the posting guidelines. Why cant Hughesy, heaven knows he's been here long enough. Don't be so harsh on the little fellow, let's have a Hughesy forum! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! Hughesy! I appoint myself moderator - post away Mr Hughesy!
Blackburn Ender Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 If Andy Nield genuinely has an exclusive in tonight's LET saying Hughes has got the job, then I'd like to know about it (not being near a Blackburn newsagent).
1864roverite Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 do you mean we might get 10k for the game ?
Nuclearsox Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 where does JW say that the man will be appointed after saturdays match About page 70 he was quoted in the Mirror:- Williams said: 'There will be more meetings during the week, but I'd be surprised if we appointed somebody before the Portsmouth game. 'We are not rushing into a decision, but I would expect us to have a man in place before the Charlton game in two weeks' time.' That seems to rule out God and Felicity Kendall which were my favourites.
Blackpool_Rover Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 I still want dowie and not hughes! Come on JW, see sense and appoint Dowie, and if we have to get hughes i wont be happy with this joint club/country rubbish, that wont work. as for megson...god no i remember going to a blackpool match about 7 years ago against Hednesford town in the fa cup and they lost, it was that bad 4 fans ran to the dugout and started assaulting megson and ripping his jacket.
Hughesy Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 If Andy Nield genuinely has an exclusive in tonight's LET saying Hughes has got the job, then I'd like to know about it (not being near a Blackburn newsagent). Your 1 on your own then if you go off some of the comments
rover6 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 (edited) It's the rule of the jungle I'm afraid, Hughesy. One person starts a new thread claiming MGP has signed when it was patently obvious that it was still rumour and speculation. That is given the stay of execution. Another person does something very similar with Hughes becoming manager and the thread is wiped. Edited September 14, 2004 by rover6
Duffer*Norway Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Im happy nomatter its Hughes or Dowie. Both are some good managers getting respect from players and fans. I would expect the rovers playes to give everything from day one if Hughes is the man. I think Dowie needs a month or two earning the same respect from the players as they dont know to much about him.
krislu Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 (edited) One person starts a new thread claiming MGP has signed when it was patently obvious that it was still rumour and speculation. wrong, I think the guy who posted that knew before everyone else! Edited September 14, 2004 by krislu
CAPT KAYOS Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 (edited) JW says the manager will be appointed after the Pompey match - Report from the Rags 19/09/04 " all reports that Redknapp would not be at the game where blown out the window when he was spotted in the seat sponsored by Betfair in the Jack Walker stand with his son Jamie sporting the Blue n White now of the famous Lancastrian club . This bombshell of appointment by Rovers had taken all by surprise (except Betfair who claimed ignorance of anything) and was considered downright disrespectful to the 2000 or so pompey fans that had made the long journey to meet Mr Blackburn Rovers himself Bobf. They had been assured that Mr R would not be taking over the reigns of his new club until the following Monday due to him being on 'toilet cleaning leave.' You can just see it Edited September 14, 2004 by CAPT KAYOS
T4E Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 One person starts a new thread claiming MGP has signed when it was patently obvious that it was still rumour and speculation. wrong, I think the guy who posted that knew before everyone else! Stick to your guns son
Alan75 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 bbc rovers close in on new boss Mark Hughes and Iain Dowie are the leading contenders for the Blackburn managerial post, BBC Sport understands
1864roverite Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 that is almost a similar report to one that appeared yesterday afternoon on bbci
SouthAussieRover Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 http://www.sportinglife.com/football/news/...urn_Hughes.html Apologies if already posted.
1864roverite Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 well at least they have identified the source as to the interest for the Rovers job ! All other reports suggest someone close to Hughes but now we have it in black and white ! i wonder if it has been made clear to the Rovers Board just how much he wants the job ?
1864roverite Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 story has now got more impetus and is appearing in the media. I does hoever shoot down the theory that he has already been interviewed about the job UNLESS the welsh FA know something we dont !
roversfan1 Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Just appeard on BBC Sport... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/3655384.stm Personally I would be glad to have him, he may be inexperienced as a manager but he was a well respected player and has done a great job at Wales. We have gone for coaches in the past (Kidd, Hodgeson etc) and look where that got us so now lets try for a proper manager !
John Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Little brat Bellamy on Hughes http://www.itv-football.co.uk/Teams/Blackb...ry_125451.shtml
SAS Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Lets hope we get him, he looks like the clear number 1 target imo.
Blackburn Ender Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 But Hughes' agent is basically putting out a 'come and get me plea' to the media, as reported on the BBC.
T4E Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Hughes is the shortest odds he's ever been on betfair.....
John Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 (edited) Looks like its between Dowie and Hughes. Hughes slight favourite- surely too many factors in his favour. -popular with fans -ex player, likes the club -players seem to want him in! -all 2 of the backroom staff would welcolme him with open arms Edited September 14, 2004 by John
colhot Posted September 14, 2004 Posted September 14, 2004 Still think it will be Gary Megson. Lancashire lad emigrated to Cambridge.
