Article in the Mirror this morning claiming that the Rovers is up for sale. Apparently the Walker family are happy to see the club sold for £50m.

Link.

It wouldn't surprise me if their was some truth in the story. I guess Rovers aren't making much money for them these days. Still think Jack would never have let it happen, if only the great man was still with us.

I can see the sales pitch now:

Ok, we have no online merchendise. We can pull in a crowd of 18,000. We may get relegated this season if things carry on the way they are going.

50M bargain

"new manager Mark Hughes is fighting a battle for survival"

"Walker bought Rovers the Premiership title in 1995"

"Blackburn Rovers are up for sale"

"John Cross is an idiot with no regard for journalistic ethics"

One of the above four statements does not appear in the article and is the only one that is true.

yeah, Jack Walker didn't buy us the title, he just gave a mid table div 2 team loads and loads and loads of money to buy players that won us the title, totally different!

I would like to hear about a team who didnt "buy" the title sinceNottingham Forest. Its pure cack, how much did Rovers spend vs how much did Arsenal spend? Hmmm only one winner there.

I'm not going to get into that argument with you Chris.. suffice it to say that yes, Jack's money helped - but look at the many millions other clubs have spent (much more than Rovers) and still failed to win the title !

It's about having money - yes - but more importantly.. how you use it !

What annoys me is the fact that during that season Manchester United signed Andy Cole for a record fee !! They tried to buy the title during that season.

I ahve emialed the clown outlining my utter contempt for his exclusive story

I can't find an e-mail address for the cretin, where did you send it to?

Well, if they want to sell, I cant see them being all that generous with the cash anymore. Dont get me wrong, I'd prefer things to stay within the Walker Trust, but if Johnny FOreigner (or, even more unlikely, a local) wants to plough millions into the club, I'm all for it. Success comes above loyalty to the Trust. Be different if it was Jack, but as it isnt...

Brockhall is owned by the club?

It is indeed. Not convinced its worth anywhere near £30million. The massive sports complex at work only cost £12million and that involved around £2million to shift some great crested newt type creatures.

Paul - how much have we got in the funds ? unsure.gif

Slightly fewer 000s than that ohmy.gif Nice thought, we could all take turns as manager. The championship would be over by Christmas laugh.giflaugh.gif

I'm sure Arsenal and Chelsea would have something to say about that though wink.gif
