philipl Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 Djorkaeff playing for fun. Good to see the Rovers took a pragmatic approach.

ihtd Posted October 9, 2004 Posted October 9, 2004 I think he will be a good signing for Blackburn just because he brings something different to the table for us, we have no other striker like him and he can only be a good role-model to people like Stead and Gally, plus he was impressive against Villa even though he hadn't played since May and had trained by himself in France. Now if he plays like that without match practise image what he could be like when he has a few games under his belt. Now thats an intresting thought.
FourLaneBlue Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Might not have been with us for very long but he was still one of only two World Cup winners that we have had at Ewood. Can anyone remember the other? BBC - France Great Djorkaeff Retires

Paul Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 who? Osvaldo Ardiles. Won the World Cup with Argentina in 1978, played for Rovers once or was it twice before he got kicked? He also managed the Swindon team that beat us in the play-offs in 1990?
Presty On Tour Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 are we talking about the same bloke who managed spurs here?
Paul Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Yeah.....he was a pretty average midfielder as well I'll probably get my years all mixed up but it was fun then. We had Steve Archibald, Ardiles, Kevin Moran, Frank Stapleton all arrive at Ewood for a season or two. Anyone remember how many Archibald put on the gate? I was looking at apicture of him and a certain Mr Furnell last night
92er Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Mackay had brought Ossie in so that he could play on the plastic pitch at Oldham in a key match. Unfortunatley he got injured in the away game at Plymouth (his first game?) by some thug. Called Marker.

Modi Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 Way back in 1991, I was covering at the Sunderland office and found myself processing a mortgage application for someone who worked at Newcastle FC. There was no mention of who to contact in the personnel department to check the employment records. I mentioned this and someone said just ring the club the club and ask for Ozzy. Totally didn't twig and duly rang the club... only to find the mortgage supervisor dive across the desk and snatch the phone off me as I started to speak. Could have been very funny or very embarrassing.
