SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Worth a try,welcome........... http://www.rovers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/New...~570210,00.html
Quack Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Good news - several times when he played for BWFC he destroyed us, rumours from Notlob supporters are that they could not afford his wage demands, short term fix.
rover6 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Seeing as it's a short-term deal, we can't really lose. Question is, where is he going to play? My guess is that it'll be left wing, in which case, where do MGP and de Pedro figure?
Brownie Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Even The Guardain are taking the mickey ! "Blackburn? Ou est Blackburn? C'est pres de Londres?"
modes98 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Even The Guardain are taking the mickey ! "Blackburn? Ou est Blackburn? C'est pres de Londres?" i'm sure they said the same about bolscum! but look how well they are doing?!? Good signing in my opinion, need some 'ummf' in midfield!
super_neill Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Is the signing of Youri Djorkaeff a good move by Mark Hughes? Maybe have this polled
Manchester Blue Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 The reason why he didn't sign for Bolton was because he wanted a 2 year deal and they would only give him 1 year. Money wasn't the issue.
tcj_jones Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Fitness issues aside, as I have no knowledge on them, this is such an impressive move by Hughes and he is certainly gaining my confidence. EXACTLY what we need at the moment - creativity. As with our rumoured interest in Hartson, Hughes seems to know exactly what the team is lacking and is looking to fix it - strength, height and power upfront in Hartson's case. However, I sincerly hope that this isn't a replacement for Fergson. Flitcroft has been, at best, poor and I presume Ferguson will play alongside Djorkaeff, which raises the issue of tenacity in our midfield - we'l have very little. If Ferguson and Djorkaeff play alongside each other we need a more stable and reliable centre back - if Short is playing then certainly, I think this partnership will work. Once more, good move Hughes.
American Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Good move by Hughes and Williams. We need more creativity in midfield. A 3-month deal will not kill us if he doesn't do the job, and we have the option if he does.
Ricky Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Just out of interest, is this the first time we have had a world cup winner playing for us?
Ricky Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Did he win the world cup or was he in the team that went out when the other Baggio missed the pen. The only other one I can think of could be Ossie Ardiles
jim mk2 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Good move by Hughes who has been quick to recognise the lack of quality in the squad. Djorkaeff is a class player - even at 36 - and we don't have too many of those (none, in fact). He says he wants to play for another two years, so hopefully he'll be bursting to make an impact, which can only to be our benefit.
jim mk2 Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Just out of interest, is this the first time we have had a world cup winner playing for us? John Connelly, a member of England's World Cup-winning squad in 1966, joined Rovers from ManU in 1968 (I think).
Ricky Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Agreed Jim, I think he will do well for us. We need a little bit more creativity and hopefully he will give us this
Blue and White Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Good points - he can be a class player, has alot of creativity Bad points - he's old and he recently played for Bolton I think it's an ok/pretty good signing by Hughes, considering there is no transfer fee. Nothing much to lose, and hopefully he'll improve us a bit 'till January.
Uxbridge rover Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 I was just wondering, if Djorkaeff is contracted till jan then the gaffer may have a new signing in mind when the transfer window opens .... maybe
den Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Just out of interest, is this the first time we have had a world cup winner playing for us? John Connelly, a member of England's World Cup-winning squad in 1966, joined Rovers from ManU in 1968 (I think). John Connelly interview, just for Jim.
USABlue Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Seems to me the best way to improve our defence immediately is to keep the ball in the opponents half and have players that the other team HAVE to worry about, this fella can help with both those aspects. Pretty exciting I think. Someone to pass the ball for Stead and Dickov just how it is supoosed to be instead of hoofing it up in the air. If he is match fit I expect him to make an immediate impact.
SharrockDownSouth Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 Can't really see any negatives to this, as long as he's as fit as he claims to be.
Hanks Posted September 28, 2004 Posted September 28, 2004 (edited) i voted yes on the basis that i am just handing over to a bolton fan at work and he is less than happy about it, - sorry no he says he is bloody furious Edited September 28, 2004 by hanks
