After a hiatus due to the World Cup and erratic kick-off times, 4,000 Holes will return in February with a special edition. Issue 107 will be dedicated entirely to the 2000 to 2010 decade.
It's a follow-up to Issue 103 last year, which gained a lot of positive feedback for its review of the 2010 to 2020 era and allowed £200 to be given to the Tony Parkes fundraiser. That edition originally sold out quickly, but an additional print run has since been made so it is possible to buy a copy if you missed out. Issue 107 is going to be the same idea in terms of creating an unofficial “alternative history”, covering 100 random, unusual, amusing and notable events from the decade.
The passing of Jack Walker in August 2000 caused huge concern about the future of the club, and although the heights of the nineties were never reached, the following decade provided just as many good memories and famous seasons. Two excellent managerial appointments in Graeme Souness and Mark Hughes resulted in a promotion, long cup runs, silverware, Premier League football and multiple European adventures. Meanwhile, legends such as Brad Friedel, Ryan Nelsen and Tugay graced Ewood for the majority of the decade.
