Blackburn’s bid to sign Rochdale striker Ethan Brierley failed because the youngster did not tick boxes saying he was British and white.
Rovers had sent through the papers to complete the deal for the 19 year old prospect but had them returned for that bizarre reason.
Brierley was supposed to fill out a form identifying himself for the EFL and the FA registers but missed out the two segments.
Despite the fact that Brierley could be ‘checked out’ independently these answers were required.
By the time Blackburn resubmitted the corrected forms it was too late and the deal fell down.
