Manchester United visited Ewood Park on a big night of drama exactly 21 years ago today, as Rovers staged their first home league match after gaining promotion.

Almost 30,000 watched as the two old rivals played out a thrilling 2-2 draw, which was notable for a David Beckham own goal, Fabien Barthez antics in goal for United, a disallowed Ciccio Grabbi strike, a superb Keith Gillespie goal and a Craig Short red card which led to Beckham's controversial equaliser from the subsequent free kick.
