Girona...The Fans Take Over !

Friday, 28 July 2023

Thanks to the sterling efforts of “We Are The Rovers”, the newly branded Rovers Trust has worked closely with the club to arrange what has become known as #FansTakeover Day.

This weekend’s match will be sponsored by 'We Are The Rovers'.

This will be the first time the supporters group has ever sponsored a men’s first-team fixture and signifies the ongoing development and strength of the relationship between the football club and our fans.

A key objective for Rovers and We Are The Rovers is to improve fan experience and encourage new supporters to attend matches and start following the club. In addition, Saturday’s sponsorship ties in with the club's ongoing #OneRovers campaign, highlighting how Rovers is a club for all.

During the half-time interval against Girona, CEO Steve Waggott will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with ‘We Are The Rovers’, giving the supporters group the platform to be involved with key strategic planning and encouraging them to bring their own ideas forwards.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of Rovers supporters from all parts of the globe, a truly magnificent sum of £660 has been donated to go towards funding tickets for children from Blackburn & Darwen Youth Zone.  ‘We Are The Rovers’ have topped up the fund with a donation of £300 and BRFCS have in turn added £100 to make a grand total of £1060.

As a result, 40 children plus 5 chaperones will be ferried to Ewood in a chartered coach to watch a game that they would not otherwise have attended.

Anyone who has donated, your generosity is truly heartwarming.

For our part, BRFCS/4000 Holes are each contributing to the experience…

  • 4000 Holes is taking the form of an unofficial programme for the fixture with a double cover - Scott will be in his usual station on Kidder St but copies can also be bought at the BRFCS/4000 Holes stall behind the Blackburn End. It can be ordered ONLINE HERE too
  • The stall will be manned by BRFCS volunteers selling raffle tickets to win a signed shirt, signed ball and a subscription to 4000 Holes; tickets for a tombola will also be on sale to win a range of Rovers memorabilia and merchandise - all proceeds from the raffle & tombola will go towards the care of club legend Tony Parkes

  • Members of the 4000 Holes podcast panel will be capturing audio & interviewing fans to feature in a special episode of the podcast - look out for their distinctive t-shirts

Please drop by our stall to say hello, buy some raffle/tombola tickets &/or a fanzine & you may get a free BRFCS/4000 Holes fixture card plus some stickers…what more could you wish for ?

See you on Saturday !
