Blackburn Rovers face a fight to keep boss Jon Dahl Tomasson after one season at the club.
The Dane has done well on his English managerial debut and could be tempted by a return to European football if Rovers fail to go up.
Tomasson knows Blackburn will cut back next season and that makes his job much harder after achieving a sustained run with the current squad.
The smart-thinking coach was also sold short by his transfer team in the January window when he did not get the players he wanted.
The failure to sign midfielder Lewis O’Brien capped a bad month when the club also failed to land a striker - and that still rankles.
