In a move driven largely by nostalgia and fuelled by a desire to educate younger generations as to the “classic” Rovers kit (some would argue..!) BRFCS has investigated the possibility of producing a small run of retro Rovers shirts in the style of the kit worn from 1964 to 1971. We are delighted to confirm that we have identified a reputable supplier (with a history of supplying Rovers kits..!) and so we are now ready to gauge interest from the Rovers-supporting public!
They will be manufactured by Ribero (who supplied Rovers kits from 1990 to 1992) and will be made from a 65%/35% cotton/polyester mix to provide durability with comfort. The necklines and cuffs will be knitted.
The template follows the design of the classic 1960s Rovers shirt. Long sleeves, reversed halves (of course…) in the body of the shirt, the sleeves, the cuffs and the crew collar - see below.
The shirts will be available in the following ADULT sizes - the seam to seam measurement “Chest (B)” is probably the most useful to identify which is the right one for you. Please note that the size chart is in INCHES.
The shirts will be £25 (irrespective of size ordered) plus the relevant postage & packing.
For UK addresses this will be £5 per shirt.
For Europe addresses this will be £10 per shirt.
For RoW addresses this will cost £15 per shirt.
How do I order ?
Simply click here to order - please complete the form together, with your credit card details before midnight on Friday 30th September 2022*.
*Please note that this Deadline Date is for the initial production run only, in an attempt to try & ensure delivery in time for Christmas…any orders from the US & Australia for instance may be cutting it fine, but we’ll do our very best…
If there is continuing /additional demand, then a further production run will be arranged asap with Ribero & details will be published on the site.
In the event that the production run is cancelled (for whatever reason) then full refunds will of course be provided & all prospective purchasers will be advised accordingly.
When can I expect delivery ?
We are looking to place our order with Ribero over the weekend of 1st/2nd October - Ribero have advised that manufacture and delivery to us will take approximately 6-8 weeks from this point.
We will then need some time to post them out, so realistically we are aiming to have all orders despatched in time for Christmas but clearly no responsibility can be taken in the event of delays beyond our control e.g. container ships becoming stuck in the Suez Canal… Putin declaring war on the UK, that sort of thing…
We will of course keep everyone advised of progress via a forum thread.
By buying one of these shirts, it demonstrates that the wearer has a finely-tuned sense of what constitutes a classic football design & wishes to pay homage to a different era in Rovers history; and of course It helps us to keep BRFCS running..!
We are always looking for new & innovative ways to fund the site & this is just one more avenue that we’re exploring. If it’s successful we’ll look to try other lines…nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say..!
