Rovers run up legal bill in O’Brien fight

Blackburn Rovers are running up a huge bill in their bid to sign midfielder Lewis O’Brien in a transfer war.

Rovers are using a top legal team and consulting a KC in their attempts to win an independent panel verdict against the EFL. Estimates on the cost make it a gamble at around £100,000.

The hearing is due to go ahead on Tuesday when Rovers will state their case to clear O’Brien to join them after the League refused to register the move.

It is an unusual case and Blackburn will be hoping for a quick verdict. O’Brien has already missed a handful of games in February.

Forest are waiting on a decision too. They have held the interest of MLS outfits at bay until the decision is taken.

Steve Cooper’s club know there is a potential £10 million sale if O’Brien helps Blackburn go up. The American teams are only talking about a share of his wages for a few months.
