Rovers take EFL to arbitration panel

Blackburn Rovers are taking the EFL to an arbitration panel to settle the Lewis O’Brien transfer dispute.

Rovers have taken the extraordinary and expensive route of challenging the decision to block the loan move for the Nottingham Forest midfielder.

Now the Championship side have a fortnight to put their case together and must be represented by a top solicitor.

The EFL and Blackburn will then go in front of an independent three man panel who will decide if they have a case.

O’Brien is back at Forest after the breakdown of the move on deadline day. He faces a further frustrating wait to find out the result.

Forest and O’Brien’s agent have been looking for a potential loan move to America’s MLS. If an offer comes up it could further complicate the case.

Blackburn may yet take further action against the EFL as they claim to have been in a play off place before the transfer was disputed.

It has turned into a massive row and heads may roll on either side depending what the arbitration panel decide.
