Blackburn Rovers want to sign Cardiff City striker Mark Harris after missing out on a deadline swoop.
Rovers wanted Harris as they looked for an extra forward but the Welsh club surprisingly quoted them a £700,000 fee.
Blackburn did not want to pay for the Welsh international and will now look to sign him for nothing when his deal expires at the end of the season.
Rovers chief scout Gus Williams knows Harris well after working with him at international level. Stoke City and Wigan also stepped back at the price and could return.
