Season: 2019/20
Fixture: Rovers 2-2 Swansea City (29/2/20)
Highlights
Why Chosen
The last Rovers game at Ewood, before the world changed. Covid restrictions would be in place by the time the scheduled Rovers v Bristol City match was due to be played. For some Rovers fans it would be a long time, if not the last time, they were able to step foot inside Ewood Park. Swansea City’s timewasting prowess was on clear display as 5 minutes of time were added on. Bradley Johnson gave Rovers a deserved point with a deflected drive. Rhian Brewster got his first goal (of seemingly many against Rovers) whilst it would be the last time the fans would see Danny Graham, in the flesh, in a Rovers shirt as he had a spot kick saved at the Blackburn End after a theatrical dive by the then English clogger Ben Brereton. A decent afternoon's entertainment.
Aftermath
Covid, PPE, Clap for carers, Lockdown, Captain Tom Moore, Partygate. The world went mad for several months/years later. Rovers' season resumed with a victory against the Robins (some 10 weeks after the initial scheduled match) which raised hopes, but Rovers would win just two of their last 8 games and finished well short in 11th place.
Honourable Mentions:
2/11/19 – Rovers 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday – The late, late, show as Tosin and a stoppage time deflected effort from Buckley steal 3 points for Tony Mowbray’s men.
18/1/20 – Sheffield Wednesday 0-5 Rovers – The second of a memorable double over Wednesday as Rovers canter to a sensational win at Hillsborough
20/6/20 – Rovers 3-1 Bristol City – The first-ever Rovers league game in June and also the first post-Covid fixture at Ewood Park.
