  1. Apart from the ITV games of course
  2. The running temperature depends on on the processor you are using and which part of your computer you are monitoring. You can monitor the general temperature within the center of the case, the Processor itself, the Hard Disks, Graphics Card or the memory. All of these run at different temperatures with different thresholds. Temperatures will rise during use and will rise and fall depending on what you are doing. Depending on the age of the machine, your fans will either be going at full pelt all the time or they will increase in speed as the temperature rises. You will know if this is happening as the fans noise will increase. I personally don't think you have a temperature problem as you are only experiencing problems during not very intensive applications. The way to really stress your machine and see if it shuts down under other circumstances is to try a newer graphically intensive 3D game. These cause the CPU, memory and graphics cards to be used extensively and therefore increase the temperature. For example, in my machine, when I play Half Life 2, the CPU fan goes from a bearable whir to a rattle that vibrates the case. You can always run the computer with the case off to get more air flow through which will keep the computer cool. If FM still crashes then I would seriously be looking at memory problems. You will probably find that you have one particular problem area in memory and the game is referening it causing the crash. Another thing to try is to make sure you have the newest patch available for FM. There might have been a problem that has been fixed by a patch. Long shot but anything is worth trying. Personally, I would re-install the machine and try FM without installing anything else. If it still crashes then there is a hardware problem. If it is fine then it is likely another driver or program is causing the problem.
  3. Ninja Gaiden is also a very good game. Destroy all Humans is entertaining for a while but does get repetative.
  4. I liked the first clip, very informative. It's still scary when they say the price, even though it's in USD. Also, when he takes out the new controller and announces "This is the final version", you can just about hear everyone in the croud saying "but it's identical to the PS2 controller!". The Getaway clip looked very impressive in Piccadilly Circus. Shame it was just a rolling demo of the set scene. The final clip with the F1 just looks comical. The cars look like toy cars flinging around a track. I think they need to do a bit of work on that one.
  5. 1080i is a HDTV resolution. PAL DVD's currently use 576p. This means you have 576 lines in the vertical resolution. "p" means progressive where all 576 lines are displayed at the same time every frame is refreshed. for High Definition you have 720p, 1080i and 1080p. 720p has an extra 144 lines over the old PAL format and again the p shows that all lines in the frame are shown at the same time (which is meant to give the best picture quality) 1080i means you now have 504 lines more than PAL TV's so nearly double and 360 more lines than 720. The "i" means interlaced. This means that instead of showing all the lines in one go, it shows the odd lines in the first frame and then the even lines in the second frame. This means you have a higher quality picture however some people can notice motion blur during fast moving sequences. The mecca of all things High Def is 1080p however there are very few screens that support this as yet and the processing power needed to output 1080p is prohibitive.
  6. Yep, I would go for checking the memory first and foremost. Plus it's now quite cheap to replace. If you don't get any errors on the memory, you might want to think about re-installing XP. Sometimes Blue Screen's of Death can be caused by a driver problem. A simple re-install could fix this. If your PC stops on the BSOD (XP's default is to reboot straight away) then there should be an error code (usually looks like 0x000000a) and possibly the name of a dll or program that has caused the error. These are quite useful for googling on to find out what may be causing the prolem.
  7. Again, the problem there for me is the cash going to sky. To get Prem Football and Movies you need to be on the £42.50 package. Add to that the multiroom that I already have plus the HD sub, it's £62.50 per month. Thats £750 per year just for TV!!! That's mainly why I'm going down the freeview HD route. Even if it stays as just BBC on the satellite trials, out of your list, I'll be able to get the World cup (well half of it), Wimbledon and any HD material they pump out (probably Eastenders in all it's glory).
  8. Not likely. £10 extra for very little content. I am currently looking at getting a freeview HD satellite receiver. If they ever release the patch to make BBC-HD work then I will probably get the Humax HDCI-2000. Just plug it into my existing sky cable and I will get the BBC trials (followed by whatever other freeview comes - possibly ITV, C4 and C5). I am also in the lucky position of being able to pick up the DTT HD transmissions from Crystal Palace. The BBC are transmitting at around 20mbps using a h264 codec that no morden PC's can actually decode quickly enough. I get 11 frames per second on my 3700+. Still, it looks absolutely stunning. The ITV, C4 and C5 test channels appeared the other day but all they are transmitting is test bars.
  9. But have you mapped out how to get to every game yet?
  10. Here you go Pro Evolution 6 Out on the 360 nearly a month before the PS3 is even released!
  11. Yeah keep them coming. It's making me miss the North West!!
  12. It's getting closer. It's now up for pre-order at Play.com. Due out 9th June. £24.99 for xbox and PS2 only £17.99 for the mighty PC
  13. I didn't see the differences. You are probably right, most people will go for the more expensive version however the only item I am shocked that they have missed off the cheapy is the HDMI port. Without that, the blue-ray for films is essentially useless which I thought would be one of the biggest selling points of the PS3 over the 360.
  14. Not a bad price level either especially with it having blu-ray. I can see the 360 dropping it's price a fair bit in November.
  15. Ah well, you needed to have played it on the Amiga. Absolute classic. And I'm not sure what problem you had with the controls, there was only directions and one fire button. Not of this namby pamby 15 thousand button combinations you get these days.
  16. Crap! saw it coming.
  17. Took a while to find but here you go
  18. I was just getting all nostalgic there, I mis-read it and saw it as Sutton soring for us. If only ....... anyway, back to today, 2-1 to Brum. I just have this horrible feeling we are going to muck up 6th spot. It was going to be bad enough with Bolton being the evil do'ers but I think it's now going to be worse and Newcastle are going to steal our place. Here's hoping I'm wrong.
  19. How dare you!!! (Whatever you said)
  20. It's really sad but I found myself singing along to the music. I really did play Sensi Soccer far too much when I was younger. This new version does look quite fun. I wonder how long the fun will last before people go back to PES/FIFA?
  21. But we still don't deserve to be going in one behind.
  22. Fair enough. I wonder how that will all get negotiated when Sky can't own all the packages.
  23. It certainly could be an interesting long running battle ahead. I am just wondering whos copyright the lawyers would be arguing was broken. Sky's copyright hasn't as their channels would not have been hacked to show the encrypted programming. The Premier Leagues haven't been broken as the pubs were paying a subscription therefore directly paying the copyright owner. Finally, the foreign Satellites copyright is in tact as again the subscription is still in place. I would have thought the only law being broken is the rather poor law that states that no live games can be shown during certain times. This is the law that most prosecutions have been brought against and won successfully. I'm sure if someone challenged this at a European level that even this would be called ridiculous as we can legitimately receive other satellite channels in this country. Also, The argument about "middle east" providers is also a strange one as surely in this open EU market, we could buy a service from anywhere in Europe? Well, you can also subscribe to French and German channels who show just as much football as the Middle Eastern satellite providers. And the "technicality" that the Bolton case won on was the fact that they had a paid for suscription. Rather a large technicallity that anyone who isn't using hacked cams can win a case on it would appear.
