They clearly aren't under pressure, but I don't get the same vibe from JDT as I did from Mowbray. JDT has more or less stated that he desperately wanted to kick on this season but wasn't backed. But yes I agree we should be playing Wharton (and should have started Sorba), and I thought we were playing better with Dolan instead of Brereton, but even if we were we'd still have a very poor centre forward upfront along with all the other players who struggle to find the net regularly - and have done so for several seasons. We should have seen some fresh faces in January. We were not only desperate for a midfielder and striker, but along with that, having no competition gives little incentive for anyone to go the extra mile. And that's what we saw against Norwich. Blame the manager all you want but match after match I'm seeing chances regularly missed by Gallagher. A decent striker would have knocked in a few of his recent opportunities.

I don't hate Mowbray (?), I just think he was coasting. If they'd given him a contract he'd still be doing the same. He struck lucky with Brereton coming good and no one will tell me any different. We're discussing a man who put Sam Gallagher at fullback and Bradley Johnson as a false 9. I'll never forget when we were on a decent mini run and a journo asked Mowbray what was being done that was different, considering such a turnaround in fortunes. Mowbray replied, we aren't doing anything different, your answer is as good as mine, I don't know. And I think that sums up his management style. Stick with something and pray it works more often than it doesn't. Also you've said previously, this season we should improve on last season. And your reason seems to be that we have pretty much the same squad as last.

What is absolutely crazy is thinking we have some sort of right to do better than 8th without a striker in the squad and all the upheaval we've had 🤣🤣🤣 And thinking Mowbray had any sort of gameplan with Brereton 🤣🤣🤣
-
The team that finished 8th wasn't quite the team JDT inherited was it? But even so Brereton had the best season probably of his career last season as he hasn't been as good this season. "Massively improved" is an overexaggeration, but even if he did have a decent season I'm not sure the difference that makes anyway. Mowbray didn't have anything to do with Brereton playing well, he struck it lucky with Chile call up and the confidence boost that brought. And he's more Brereton than Diaz this season. And if Brereton hadn't been scoring last season, the first half would have been the same as the second half. We wouldn't have finished 8th for sure. 8th massively flattered us last season, and 8th would massively flatter us this season all things considered. It's an unbalanced squad with some inconsistent or very poor players (some that poor they can't even get on the bench despite injuries), without a decent striker and an over-reliance on academy players. The fact people are now calling for a 19 year old lad, without a minute of professional football to his name, to come in and score goals is saying something.

He'll be sacked next season.

Apart from the fact he's 19 with plenty of time to improve. Gallagher is 27 with no sign that he'll get any better. -
Brereton had the season of a lifetime. We brought in more than one player in January last season. It was largely Mowbray's squad being asked to play differently. We lost two defenders and a midfielder pre-season, with no return. We lost an excellent defender back to his parent club. We were told from the outset it would take time. Mowbray showed no interest in resolving the lack of goals, impacting this season. Let's not forget the losing mentality that has been here for a while. The squad was in a bit of a mess when JDT came in.

Because he's worked wonders with a shit squad?

We played better football without Brereton and Morton in the side but still struggled for goals with Gallagher in the team. Yesterday we had a team with Brereton, Morton, Gallagher and Hedges plodding about. No wonder we lost. It's a shame Buckley got injured as I don't think Morton would be in the team. Buckley is an inconsistent player but nowhere near as poor as Morton. Morton's first instinct is to pass backwards and it's the only quick decision he makes. Going forward he takes an age to make a decision, by which time he's closed down and then it's usually a bad one. And then when he does manage to pass the ball he then stands still. Morton being on the pitch makes Travis a far worse player too. I'd drop Brereton to the bench for Dolan, I don't agree he'd be much better upfront. I don't agree Dolan would be much better upfront either as we've tried that. The only player that could replace Gallagher is Leonard but he looks too young to be expected to suddenly become a goalscoring machine. That's a massive misfire by Gregg and co that we're going to keep suffering for. We can't play Thomas but I'd be resistant to using Hedges as he was so poor yesterday. I don't know what the answer is there. Maybe move JRC forward into his position and Brittain at full back. Brittain looked a lot better when he came on yesterday, maybe he's fully fit now. In short I think we're going to struggle with the same dozy foursome that cost us yesterday. -
What's not brilliant is that he did the opposite for us.
-
Had we brought in a good midfielder and centre forward or two we'd be challenging for the automatics. Waggott, Gregg and co have a lot to answer for and they obviously didn't anticipate the team being in the play off places all season. No ambition, no imagination and no clue.

I'm not sure if it's brave but I'd prefer neither to be on the pitch at the moment. -

I forgot about that, so that means Hedges again... -

I think it will be the same result regardless. If we play Wharton we may play generally better, but we're still pitiful at scoring goals and it's not just this season. -

The same Brereton who has plodded his way along recently? -

We were better with Thomas and Wharton in the team. Those two have to start against Hudds. And just don't play Gallagher, start with ten it'd make no difference - it may actually help. -

So would I but having never played in a senior match it's not ideal is it? We shouldn't be putting that much pressure on the kid when the grown ups at the club could have solved the issue months ago. -

Serious answers though - there's fuckall apart from a kid who has never played or sticking someone who isn't a goalscorer upfront. January has cost us again. -

He tried that and everyone moaned that he was too small to be a centre forward. -

He shouldn't be forced to play a 19 year old without a senior goal to his name. Same with A Wharton. Gregg and co carry the blame for this, and a proper CEO wouldn't allow it to happen. -

We started the season with no decent centre forwards and we're going to end it without one. At any other club recruitment would be given their marching orders for failing to secure a better midfielder than Tyler Morton and a better centre forward than Sam fucking Gallagher. -

I hope Gallagher is the first out of the door. He's a terrible footballer and a disgrace of a goalscorer. -
