Tough on Crolla, but Linares is a decent fighter and Crolla has always been limited.
-
A bit blinded? The guy is undefeated. 25-0. Until such time as someone gives him a decent fight I'll use my own judgement over those that think he is crap. Bums don't win Heavyweight titles. I dont get carried away with the personal stuff surrounding Fury, just focus on his ability and skill set. His size alone suggests he would be a handful for most as they always find out.
-
25 stone. Tomps the guy is 6 foot 9! When he fights at 18 stone 7 he is stripped right down. He is bound to get heavier between fights, not that I condone his massive beer belly of course. He has been big for years and no-one has mentioned PEDS. Even now the governing body don't seem to know their ass from their elbow with regards to this. At the moment he is banned for cocaine not PEDS, hearing early in May. (Which confirms he is very unlikely to fight in May as you stated). Not sure what more Fury could have done thoughout his career. Bitchko avoided him for years forcing him into eliminators, then got his ass whipped on his home turf when they met. Price avoided him, Haye ducked him twice, only Chisora fancied the job and he was easily handled. At the end of the day the guy is massive and any current heavyweight would have problems with him. We will soon see how poor an ageing Klitchko is when he fights Joshua. Obviously hope Joshua sparks him out as soon as possible but have a funny feeling the fight will surprise one or two, including Joshua. Meanwhile Fury's trash talk is exactly that. Having listened to Chisora, Whyte, Bellew, Haye, Darry Matthews, Ohara Davies etc lately, it is clear that Fury does nothing that many others believe perfectly acceptable.

Good call Tomps. Jacobs did well and i thought a draw would have been fair.

Tugay- best rovers midfield ever
onlyonejackwalker replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
What a player! Simply the best. We were blessed to enjoy watching him play for us for so long. Seems an age ago watching these videos. Almost like it never happened. Good old Venky's. Why bother with the likes of Tugay when Danny Mills and Etuhu are available. -
Signs are good so far with Mowbray. Pretty clear the players had totally lost confidence in anything Coyle was trying / not trying. Footballers, if not the brightest academically, do know the game and know what is beneficial / unprofessional. It was obvious they had little respect for the last bloke and zero confidence when the chips were down.

Cheers Gav. I was a massive Haye fan before his shenaningans with Fury. Supposedly shoulder damage and a cut eye and bang the fights were off. Was hoping he would win to inject more life into the Heavyweight division. Bellew won't live with the bigger blokes. I'm not so sure about all that Tomps. A friend operating at middleweight has said that Fury is looking very good in training again. Not heard about the PEDS issue for a while. Any update on all that as it seemingly has been very badly handled.

Even more reason to stay in his corner. I did say either / or.
-
Well done to the gobby scouser. Deserved to win. Whyte talking the talk now about fighting Bellew. Don't blame him for thinking Chiosora is a backward step, but would still like to watch a re-run of that again. The other British Heavyweight David Price continued to demonstrate he simply isn't good enough losing again recently Cannot believe the advice given to Haye, once his Achilles had gone. If I had been in the corner he would have simply fought above his stool and not moved. How are you meant to move around with tendon damage? Either it wasn't as bad as made out, or he suffered pain each round dragging himself around the ring. Should have stayed where he was and called Bellew in. Big fan of Shane Mcquigan, but can't help feeling he has blotted his copy book the last two fights. Haye shouldn't have fought if struggling with injury and Mcquigan should have insisted. After pulling out of the Fury fight's, Haye probably thought the show must go on with this one. Thougt Mcquigan's tactics in the Frampton / Santa Cruz fight were poor as well. Talking of Fury, as I am his only fan on here :), hopefully he can come back soon and sort out this division again. Talk of him fighting in May if he gets his license back. If Hughie beats Parker in New Zealand and Tyson can pin Wilder it is all set up for three British Heavyweight Champions, which would be entertaining. Subject to Joshua being able to do what Fury did or better to Klitchko. I wanted Hughie to fight in the UK, but Warren lost the purse bid by £200k, bidding 2.8 million to the successful 3 million. Talking of lost purse bids, Eddie Hearn missed out on the Callum Smith / Dyrrel fight for the UK. Hearn bid 1.2 and Bob Arum 1.6. Still expect Smith to win that fight, but his opponent is a decent operator. A tad surprised that they went down that route instead of Degales IBF, but they may feel it is an easier fight, even when travelling abroad. Free's up degale to re-visit the Groves rivalry. Looks like Khan / Pacquiao is off due to financiers withdrawing. It never felt quite right the match-up and came as little surprise when called off. Brook v Spence should be a good fight and credit to Brook for taking it as he struggles to get down to 147. Supposedly at Brammal Lane.

Read my post and start again. You missed a bit out for some obscure reason. I said one conceeded from three home games = seven points from nine. Got it this time? I then said two conceeded from four games which obviously included Burton unless you know of other goals conceeded under Mowbray. Enough of us told you it wasn't a must win game. Hence we have not been relegated after drawing the fixture.
-
Blue and Black. Only a total ninkampoop would wear Burnley's colours when representing the Rovers.
-
I said we had conceeded two goals in four games. You explain how that is forgetting about our 'must win' game?
-
The most pleasing aspect for me of Mowbrays start is goals conceeded. One from three home games and seven points from nine is a good return from what appeared to be very tough looking fixtures under Coyle. Two goals conceeded in four games. Few would have suggested Mowbray. Someone at the club deserves initial praise for this appointment.
-
Cracking start. Credit to all concerned. It was clear from the Burton performance that the players had responded and successive home wins have given us some breathing space. We have been in the bottom three all season apart from three weeks. For Mowbray to get seven points from nine is very pleasing as is only one conceeded and two clean sheets. Further highlights the tactical and organisational inability of the last bloke. Couldn't have asked for more and the other clubs down there will be irritated as we looked nailed on to go down. Meanwhile upcoming opponents will know they have a tough game ahead.

Me not fall for it Gav? I think you are a tad confused. I was one of the wise ones who knew we were up @#/? creek the minute Allardyce was sacked. And said so. Whilst you celebrated the new owners wise decision making. You are 6 years late pal wising up. Protests should have happened when Allardyce was potted. I ain't celebrating anything, or falling for anything. Equally, common sense suggests relegation will further damage the Rovers. The club's fanbase, finances, quality and the local community will all be affected negatively. I can't wish for that, however much i dislike the owners. RTID. Venkys Out.

Glad Coyle has gone. Relegation must be avoided. Can Mowbray keep us up? Thats all the matters for the next three months.

The reason we concede so many late goals is because the opposition are in our penalty box. They would find it harder to score if we were down the other end. Can't keep losing at home and hope to progress up the league. -

We are currently achieving less than a point per game. Hard to see where the required improvement will come from. However I agree and think we will scrape survival. -
We took that many to Stoke they gave us terracing at the side of the pitch. Brilliant days and a very good team to watch.

[Archived] The Worst Ever Rovers Player?
onlyonejackwalker replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Ronnie Hildersley. Norman Bell, running in treacle. Kevin Davies. Ashley Ward. Nathan Blake. Christian Dailly. Egil Ostenstad. Darren Peacock. Grabbi. Think we paid over 15 million for Davies, Ward, Ostenstad and Blake when 15 million was a fortune. -
Haye has never been a true heavyweight. Blown up Cruiserweight. I think the heaviest he has ever fought at is just over 16 stone. Joshua and Whyte have just come in at 17 stone 12 for their next fights. Always liked Haye until he dodged Fury twice citing injury. Lost a lot of respect for him at that time in a fight I and he both doubted he could win. Some of his excuses and general pantomime behaviour irritated. Rumours he has waxed all his dough and that is the reason he is fighting again. Bellew doesn't take a punch well and often ends on his ass. Stevenson knocked him all over the place and although Haye has annoyed me considerably this last few years I still hope he sparks the gobby scouser out. Looking forward to Whyte v Chisora and Joshua v Melina. As Tomps says the Smith fight is also interesting as is Dave Allen against the South American big hitter. Allen is very hard to knock out. Should be interesting. Kal Yufai is another good fight as well. Hoping he makes the step up and wins.

Joe Root = top cricketer. One of the best I have ever seen playing for England. When playing in the Palace Shield, I was caught on the boundary. The player threw the ball up all in one motion and the ball flew backwards over the fence for 6! Amusingly the umprie ruled the catch had not been properly taken and I survived going on to make 70+. One another occasion I turned to pull a short ball and twatted forward short leg right between his eyes. I caught it sweet, it had four written all over it and I hoestly thought I had killed the guy. The ball ricocheted off his head and their lot tried to catch it. The mush fell bakwaqrds cartoon like. He thankfully re-appeared from hopsital dee into their innings later in the day with a teniis ball sized welt on his forehead. Go on Ali. Always getting us out of jail with bat and ball.
