  1. That's more like the responce. I really can't understand being in Blackburn a few times and saw a few jokes in the bar coming up o kick-off and said that they are watching the game there. Disgraceful and about time the FA are reacting to it. It's as though people think the weather in Blackburn is cr@p.
  2. Good man Mr Stato (aka Groobs). So who has made the most passes this season and scored the most goals from outside the 18yd Box? It will be a tough one as we all say and i have to say Brad to keep a clean sheet. Oh aye, get over it toffee..... If Todd let's someone 'streak past him', he has to get around Nelson and beat the giant Friedel. Reminds me of the gauntlet in Gladiators.
  3. Lads, I'm as sick as a Billy goat here!! I waited until Sky Sports and the two clubs came to an agreement with the fixture change. If they thought for one moment... oh its the anniversary of Hillsborough and w'll reject this suggestiona dn simply say there is no way we will play on the 15th!!! I and along with many others fans from various parts of Europe then booked our flights for the game. NOW Liverpool Football Club suddenly realise that its the anniversary of Hillsborough? How fecking selfish of the club to put their fixtures before this anniversary... all because they WERE IN EUROPE. Now they're not and think oh... better change the fixture again. If they really had that the concerns of the supports then they would have changed the fixture to the Sunday or to a different date, even if it gave a lesser time to recoup for their next game (presumably Europe). Absolutely disgusted and may all the Liverpool fans who dreadfully lost their lives at Hillsborough Rest In Peace. (Isn't your club so thoughtful of you)!
  4. Looks as though Steven Drench will get the chance for Morecambe now since former Rovers keeper Ryan Robinson was sent-off on Saturday. Drench seemingly put in a good performance when he was drafted into the game mid-way through the first-half. Hopefully he can do himself justice and take this chance.
  5. I think it was disappointing that Rovers agreed to lease the store to Sports World. Fair enough it was a bit of annual revenue, but at the cost of disapproval to Rovers fans then and two years down the line. I think they should either tak a small section to the left of the shop or even extend it out to the left and have our Rovers section there. Fait enough we don't have the same support as the Mancs, Gooners, etc etc but we still have a strong support, but how hard is it to still produce a decent array of items such as DVD's, towels, hats, scarves, coats, polo-shirts, pens, pencils etc etc on a lesser quantity and not on quality (like burnley)!! There would be guaranteed sales and again it would only go towards seeing a bigger amount of blue & white colours around the city. So come on Rovers see some sense here please!!
  6. It's what everyone here has been saying that it's an awful shame that Emerton had shown so much potential and was rated as one of the best players in Europe at a stage. However, i have watched him a few times this season and seemed to be severly lacking in confidence and basically could do very little right to help the team. It was only this time last year that rumours were having it that Souey was looking to take him to Newcastle on the back of a few decent erformances, but he was never interested in that move. At the FANTASTIC 4-3 VICTORY over the Mancs he was a real lift when he came on as sub after half-time. When i heard he was replacing Tugay i told my mate (who was over for the 1st time) that since Tugay was booked it was common sense, but watch how this man lacks confidence and gives the ball away too easily!!! How wrong was i??? Totally and infact my mate was thinking that i know feck all about football, lol. When he set up the chance that Kuqi put wide, that was him at his best. He linked up well and we all want to see more off him. Give him his chances towards the end of the season and i think this man will come good. I know patience is running out and I believe that Wolves won't be the only cracking game we will see him play for Rovers!!
  7. Interesting draw, but we beat them 4-0 in the Quarter Final's of the Worthington Cup a few seasons ago. Ach sure we'll settle for 2-0 this time around.
  8. I think the prices that the club have announced are a tad on the expensive side, but in saying that I think they don't really have any other option due to the craic with low attendances etc. I travel from N.Ireland over to catch at least 4 games each season and pay an average of £28/match. However, i do feel a slight bit of injust towards the true supporters of the club, namely season ticket holders with accounts for a 10 year existance. For their loyalty they should be paying around £10.00 for this replay, whereas the rest of the adult prices should be around the £15 bracket. But i can see what Blackburn Rovers have tried to do and can understand their prices, but until they can get a guarantee of around 15,000 for all Cup games against lower division teams, then whats the point in lowering the prices further??
  9. 1. Centre Half. 2. Defensive Midfielder. -------------------------------- 3. Striker. As the stories go, it seems as though Hughsie has a rumoured £5million to spend on transfers in the New Year. If this is true then i would like the to see the addition of anyoen out of the following 3 sections: - 1. S.Henchoz//D.Purse/O.Umit/E.Van Meir 2. R.Savage/D.Murphy/T.Simons/E.Petit 3. L.Saha (loan)/L.Ferdinand/D.Bergkamp/P.Lovenkrands To resolve our defensive crisis, i would drop Lucas Neill from the team and give Gavin Peers a promotion from the reserves and give him a stab at right-back.
  10. I think Morten Gamst Pedersen should be starting all the games this season, after all he done extremely well to score 2 goals against NORTHERN IRELAND, in Belfast this year!!! (little fecker) In fairness, Dickov can't be dropped due to his attitude and performances this season, however a suspension won't be too far around the corner from him. Jansen, Gally and Bothroyd have put in a few decent performances up front. So Morten could be next in line with Jon Stead or even Jemal Johnson. IMO i feel that he should be given a chance in the FA Cup against Cardiff to give him a proper taste of what English football is all about and then try him again in the Premiership if successful!!! As someone quite rightly said, he is too easily pushed off the ball and with both Reidy and Brett playing some decent football, then he won't be able to challenge for a role on the wings where he has played before. Alternatively put him on loan for a month, but please someone tell him not to pose with a feckin Burnley scarf, just what a fellow naive collegue of his did!!
  11. Lads, Got a phone call from a person in the BBC sports desk at about 9:30am this morning informing me of this shocking news. Liek most of you i am still in shock and am extremely saddened by Souey's decision to leave us. FIRSTLY I, like several others would love to take this opportunity and thank Graeme for everything he has done for Blackburn Rovers. I instantedly doubted him when he was appointed, but it didn't take too long for me to take a shine to him. He has until now accumulated 4 and 1/2 successful years as manager of Rovers, getting us to Europe, winning a trophy and gaining us respect that we rightly deserved!! Taking us from the depths of the 1st division to the Premiership, you know the rest. He has brought us back to a team that can't be taken lightly. Fair enough he wasted some money, but man didn't he pick up bargins. Friedel: free transfer, Hughes: free transfer, Neill: 500k, Tugay 1.25m, admist many others and more recently Dickov for 150k. He also gave youngsters the chance in the 1st team, especially with Dunn and Duff when they seemed to be heading out the door for next to nothing. He gave comical apperances post match and in every match you would see him out of the dug out and encouraging the team along as well as giving the ref and 4th official a piece of his mind! SECONDLY Appointment of an experienced and successful manager is essential and no more club wreckers like Roy Hodgson. Realistically I personally i would be keen on the appointment on either of the following: - 1. Mark Hughes 2. Martin O'Neill 3. Steve McMahon 4. George Graham THIRDLY Thanks for all the memories Souey and best of luck with your new job. You have placed us back firmly on the map and who knows, we just might see Mr Dunn arrive back on the Ewood pitch.
  12. Lads you'll have a great time at Bray and all the best who travel over. PLease take it easy on the Guinness and also on the Dub lasses, as both are in short supply!! There hasn't been too much interest from our own branch, due to a conflict of social events. I also can't make it, as i have to be in Dublin Airport at 9pm, for a 2 week break in Majorca. Only other advice that i would offer to you, is make sure you have enough Euro with you before you head to Bray, because, if memory serves correctly, there is not a hole in the wall there, or they too are in short supply. I am serious this time. So are you all bringing over another blow-up doll?
  13. At the end of the day i have to go against quite a few on this borad. Personally i am sad to see this man leave, as he was our player of the season, until Mr Stead arrived. He has played with a great deal of consistancy and as a few others, only for him we would have been relegated a long time ago. He's like a time bomb waiting to go off? Bulls****!! Why do people have a go at him, like he is some sort of psycho? Andy Todd, is a player who gives his all and isn't afraid to get stuck in. Fair enough he has had his bust ups, namely so at Charlton, but do we know the real story? NO? Apparently Kiely had a go for him and all he could do was defend himself by reacting in the manner that he did, or else he would have been busted. He also kicked Christophe Dugarry up his anus, after diving and cheating for about 27 mins of the game along with elbowing a few players as well!! So who in the right mind wouldn't do that? Beckham tried it! But at the end of the day, i feel that Andy was harshly treated, but he shouldn't have upped and left during the Leeds game, as he was going to cause more harm than good, as we were in difficulty and needed to win for extra breathing space. But in fairness, as someone already said that there was a huge breakdown in comunication, about the Craig Short situation. Look at Andy Cole for instance? He calls in the PFA to sort out Souness, now in my opinion that is as equally as bad, because he can't sit down and chat to the manager about the situation, before crying to higher authority. But all that aside, Andy his now departing Blackburn Rovers and i think that he should be given a reception for his service this season, as we could have been in a worse of position only for him. I for one want to wish him all the best with his future career in football. Andy, a true gentleman, rembering you for the hard hits, the dropkick on some French geezer and wearing your heart on your sleeve. Again thanks for the memories and playing an important part in securing our Premiership survival.
  14. Outstanding read. Some good laughs, but congrats to Al and Tim for an interesting, informative and jovial read. Top drawer stuff!!
  15. It was "Dwight Yorke is a Wasp" as he was wearing the away kit and his skin colour, all said in good humour, that's why he was smiling. Did you remember your AFCD top Groo? Remember we were the only ones to win a prize, thos beers came in handy! Lol, i was told that to-day that they were singing he was a 'wasp', but i swore blind it was 'wuss', lol. Thats drink, mind of matter. But as some people find it hard to understand me, i'll but the chant merely down to that. In regards to the AFCD shirt, its a classic job, so i'll get a cheque off in the post next week, once i get Robbie Williams concert over and done with, again i'm back down to Dublin. Its on teh floor at the moment, just need to wash it now. BTW Johnny, where the hell did Lee go? Again i have to say it was an excellent time had by all in Dublin and as KanDevil said it was great to meet sooo many ppl face to face, whom use this board. I was drunk when chatting to him, but weren't we all! Trust all the Blackburn fans from teh mainland UK all get home safe and well. Now heres to a great and successful season!
  16. Alrite all, I'm the 1st to make it back here after the match last nite and i don't even have a flippin lap top! We played in a 5 a-side competition with the following teams, N.Ireland branch Republic of Ireland branch AFCD (Lee Groobys team) Bray wanderers team Queens University Bray went onto win the tournment on a penalty shoot-out in the final against Queens University. Republic defeated N.Ireland 1-0 in teh 3rd/4th place play-off with AFCD finishing bottom. We proceeded for pre-match drinks in 'Kaie Gallaghers' as youc an see Glenn was snap happy. Anyhow all went well yesterday in regards to the supporters. Over 5,000 were in attendance at the Carlisle Grounds.in regards to the game, we didn't play to the extent that we are capable of. A lot of shambolic passing from the midfield, but Reid and Paul Gallager has shown a lot of promise in the short period they were on the field. Yorke did try his hardest, but was receiving unworthy abuse from his own fans. Wasn't call for it at all, he merely just smiled back as well, lol. Dwight Yorke, you're a wuss, you're a wuss! Lucas Neill was very consistant and put in a few telling crosses. Matt i think in all honesty was our best player on the picth, ran his heart out and was denied by the post twice. Thommo and Brett Emerton ran a close 2nd. They both had a great work-rate and Thommo was denyed a further goal by the post and is looking back to his form he had last season whilst fit! I feel that Tugay was basically non-existant and Flitty wasn't his usual self. Nissa again was subject to dogy passes, but made a cracking challenge in the 2nd half. Kelly was pretty solid in goals and made a few good stops, but it'kll be great to have Brad back in between the sticks though! In regards to the injury picked up by Steven Reid, it wasn't serious, just taken off possibly because of caution. He spent quite a bit of time with the physio afterwards though! And thats about that all covered from a great time in Dublin!
  17. Temple Bar is one great area, but expensive as well. Should be a big crowd gathering as well, due to the Robbie Williams concert in a few days. Rite, i'm off to get a shower and catch the bus to Dublin, along with 30 of my mates (bottles of Bud) Heres to a great day and match and hope all you fans travelling from Mainland UK have a good one. Groo.
  18. Best bet to be in Bray for around 3-4pm. I will be in Katy Dalys along with the ROI branch. Some serious drinking that night. Temple Bar that night, but best get rid of the footie gear if you want to see some of the local beauties in the Niteclubs. Can't wait for it and trust to see you all soon! Groo.
  19. Book the 7am flight you lazy git!! But as Rich correctly says its an evening kick-off and i would recommend that you get over early to settle in and maybe get a few hrs kip in your accommodation if needed. But most importantly you won't be in a rush and you can taste the Dublin atmosphere!!
  20. I've heard that Bushmills is more than worth the visit. I've never managed to make it to there, probably due to teh fact that my stomach can't stomach Whisky, so there you go. I've been on the Guinness one quite a few times and its more than worth that visit. But sure we'll be in contact and take things from there!
  21. Its on the coast, north of belfast. 'bluemonday', i think the journey would take in teh region of near 4hrs. As 'aroversfan' states, make the journey early, i would advise 2pm, as you want to make it clear of the surrounding areas of Belfast as work would be drawing to a close around 4-5pm. The only other option whcih might prevail, is that our branch might be taking a bus down, not sure on the size, as it all depends on the interested no. It would be leaving from Ballymena, which is about 30miles of Ballycastle. Now this is only a suggestion, which we are looking into and more than likely would be a day return, for costs and the members who have to work the next day! Hope this has been of some use to you!
  22. And feck man, i'll be there for the 5 a-side as we have to reinact some revenge on you lot. We'll have a team down, but i cant see me making it to the drinking session the nite before as i have to save up the pennies for a holiday and the Robbie Williams concert on Saturday 9th August. We will be arrivinng down early Wednesday 6th August and staying over nite.
  23. If I do that I can claim it's a work trip ... hmm there's a plan Free factory tours all round?? I'll see what I can do ... Been there twice this season already. I seriously do recommend the tours and if they are free, then i'll be back in line!! Anyhow, it should be a good couple of days!
  24. Yeah smart arse, its not all that far of O'Connoll st. Much of a muchness, well once you are on O'Connoll st Temple bar isn't too far away. It all depends. I remember getting into a bar at 8am behind the Bus station. But apart from that once off feat, then i'll say 11.30-12.00pm-ish. How about all going to O'Donovans (near to Bus & Train stations) where the ROI branch hold their meetings. Say stick on a few Rovers' videos, such as, WC, Premiership winning season etc
  25. I still have to book my accommodation and will do in a week or so. I'm in a deliberation as to wether or not to say until the Sunday as i'm off to Robiw Williams concert on the Saturday. See those ppl from ROI you can't even trust one fecker. In relation to 'Dr Richs' swipe at conning ppl to go by ferry. In regards to 'Temple Bar', it is one of teh places to be. It is an old cobbled street lined with bars, nite-clubs and restaurants. Be be sure to have more than a few euro in your back pocket! The prices of drink over overwhelming to say the least. Temple bar is just off O'connoll street which is in the city centre. Any more questions or tips?
