John Eustace - our head coach
DanielMB replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As a dane I have loved having a fellow dane in charge of my favourite club. That said during his last few weeks it became apparent that he was on his way. I would loved Jon to have stayed, but the way the club is being run its probably best he has moved on. I don't know much about John Eustace but my gut feeling is that we could have hired coaches alot worse than him. I have no idea if he will succeed or not, but it's pretty obvious that all of our problems are still here. Waggott and Venkys are still running the club and are still making a mockery out of our once so proud club.- 3118 replies

I despise Venkys and Waggott as much as the next guy but I can't really fault the players for commenting on the booing. Yes they make good money and live a certain lifestyle but they are still people trying their best. Some of these players are 20 years old and of course it will rattle them when people are booing them. If we were to help the players during the match what will help them most? Cheering them on or booing them and telling them they are awful? I know what I think. All our anger and resentment should be aimed at Venkys. -

It doesnt make a difference who will replace Jon. As long as the club is as rotten as right now its impossible for a coach to succeed. Even Pep would fail.- 9495 replies

So we have loaned a young left back with 13 games in the scottish premier league to his name We have loaned a young swede who couldn't get in to Coventry's side. We are maybe loaning a defender who has two unsuccessful loans in the austrian league and the French second division. We are maybe loaning a striker who has only played MLS football and needs time to adapt to the european way of life. And we have signed a 36 year old defender who is signing for the biggest club he has been at. We have loaned out our captain and most experienced player We have sold our golden boy and perhaps the player in our squad most suited for JDTs football style. WOW........JUST WOW. -

Im not against loanees but when almost all of our signings are loans it makes hard to connect with the players knowing they will be gone in 5 months. -

There is one part to blame here and thats Venkys. Anyone who thinks otherwise needs a history lesson. End of. Every horrible decision leads back to Pune. -

In the end this all falls back on our dreadful owners. Anyone with a footballing brain would have tried to build on last seasons positivity and performances. This lot? “Lets cut the budget” -

Sacking JDT wont make any difference. Guardiola couldnt fix this team. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
DanielMB replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Jon is doing a greater job than expected. He is working miracles for our Rovers, a club that has no direction so why would he stay? I think the primary reason he is staying is because of our academy which for now is our clubs saving grace. Our first team squad is decimated. The budgets have been slashed and Venkys are doing just enough to keep the club afloat. There is no ambition from the club to achieve anything and it will be a miracle if we get promoted with this squad. We have a fantastic academy that continues to produce decent players but if we are ever to get promoted Venkys have to show some ambition and let Gregg have the finances to buy better than Telalovic, Ennis etc. Jon is ambitious and sooner or later he will find something more attractive than this shitshow of a club.- 9495 replies

Our lack of quality depth is killing us. Only using 2 subs because there is noone to help change the game on the bench. Preson could affect the game from the bench. Our subs did nothing. -

Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
DanielMB replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think people are being a little harsh on JDT here. He sees this club as a project and to succeed he must increase the value of his players. He sees the playing style as a way of doing that. If he can increase a players value he can sell him and use the money to add to the squad. And then gradually increase the squads value. And hopefully at some point we doesn't have to rely on free transfers and loans. I imagine that this is his thinking. -

https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/all-24-efl-championship-sides-in-order-of-their-wage-bill-ranked/#millwall-pound-6-714-000 I don't know how accurate this is but it probably gives us a good idea of what we are up against. We are all hoping for a promotion push at some point but what are the chances really? Today we played against a team whose budget is 10 times bigger than ours. It really worries me that there doesn't seem to be a clear strategy at our club. It seems that we have Gregg and Jon who are fighting their own impossible battle to put together a decent team while Venkys continuosly are making it more and more difficult. In the middle we have Waggott. Why have we brought in Gregg in the first place? I'd love to know what his job interview was like. To run a successful club you have to have some sort of symmetry within the club. Now we have Gregg stating that we have had a good transfer window while Jon is taking swings at Waggott. At the same time Waggott is taking about avoiding relegation while driving around in our newly acquired bus. It's so fucking frustrating watching this unfold before our eyes. And its been 13 years. I wish Venkys would either commit to something serious or just bugger off instead of just slowly killing us off because it sure feels like that is what they are doing.
