Season Tickets 2020-21
Uddersfelt Blue replied to Scotland1's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I’m all for a season ticket that gives you the option of attending or watching on iFollow with or without a cash adjustment. I just don’t want to miss watching games either in person or virtually. This a difficult situation for all and one that could be disastrous for many clubs not just Rovers. I’m sure most fans are happy to support the club in these times but equally many cannot afford to spend their money on an uncertain and devalued product. The club don’t appear to have grasped this. -

It’s not the club’s fault that the number of cases is spiking. When would have been a good time to put season tickets on sale? They were led to believe that limited numbers of fans would be allowed in stadiums so planned accordingly. However, where the club have fallen down is: Increasing prices substantially when the match day experience is being significantly reduced Failing to understand that a good proportion of fans will NOT attend where there is a risk to their health and not offering them some assurance/alternative. Failing to assure those fans who choose not to renew that they won’t lose their usual seat (I hope this is not a deliberate ploy by the club) Failing to offer an iFollow alternative to those unable to attend home games (my understanding this is not available if fans attend) Personally, after 55 years I will not be attending any time soon due to a recent health issue which leaves me in a quandary. Do I renew to secure my seat and watch the few games that may be available on iFollow or do I write this season off and take a chance that my seat will still be available and catch as many games as I can on iFollow? I wish the club had made it easier for fans like me to make that decision! -

The Nottingham Forest season ticket model seems to address the issue of not being able to attend by offering iFollow as an option https://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/2020/september/information-for-nottingham-forest-2020-21-season-card-holders/ -

As a long standing season ticket holder and fan I am desperate to get back to Ewood to watch games albeit in a more controlled environment which I fully accept and understand is outside the club’s control. I also understand that the club needs to try and get as many season ticket holders to renew at a price that is commercially sensible given that there will be less fans in the stadium. However, many fans such as myself are still not prepared to risk attending for health reasons and we seem to have been ignored or forgotten. At a guess I would say the number of “vulnerable” fans is 25% or more. What is the club offering those fans, many who will have been attending regularly for 50 years or more? Is this the spirit of “We are Together”? As it stands, by not renewing our ST it seems we will lose our seats which is hardly fair in the current situation. We also won’t be able to watch on iFollow those games that are played behind closed doors (unless there is a Match Pass option). I’m all for getting as many fans back to Ewood but please Rovers consider those for whom it is not yet safe enough to come back because if you don’t those fans may be lost forever. -

Keeps asking me for an activation code before I can pay. I’ve tried through the website and app without success. I consider myself to be quite techy but this has me baffled -

Having some trouble purchasing this game on iFollow. I don’t have a voucher code that is being asked for. Any ideas? Should I have been sent something by email? -

I get the point about clubs getting commitment from the fans but it would be a PR and financial disaster if, having spent the money, the clubs couldn’t deliver the product. I note that some clubs have actually suspended season ticket sales after putting them on sale before the end of the normal season. -

The club have explained why season tickets are not being sold yet, which seems fair enough to me. I expect a further update from the authorities and club very soon but given the current Covid situation in Blackburn it's unlikely to be a green light. Personally I would like to stay in the same area as my current seat as to me its a social experience as well as football. Having said that I would be OK to move elewhere temporarily (onto the Riverside roof if it meant I could watch football safely?). I dont get this with clubs selling out their season tickets as it's clear that all won't be able to get in. Better wait and then plan accordingly. -
Salary Caps
Uddersfelt Blue replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ah, the good old PFA! The one that pays its Chairman a huge salary. Maybe he can share that out to keep clubs afloat. Professional footballers, like many of the fans will soon be thankful that they have a salary at all. -
Salary Caps
Uddersfelt Blue replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yes it would be ideal if the vast riches of the Premier League were used to prop up the lower leagues but then Isn’t this precisely why the Premier League broke away from the Football League, so they could have the riches for themselves and the TV companies? This also begs the question, what will the richer League 1 and 2 clubs do with their excess cash? -
Probably deserving of its own topic. Here is the EFL announcement and how it affects Ipswich Town https://www.efl.com/news/2020/august/squad-salary-caps-introduced-in-league-one-and-league-two/ https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/how-salary-cap-could-affect-ipswich-1-6782272

Where's the evidence that fans are not ambitious? I would suggest the opposite and expectations are too great. -

One could argue that being in the Championship is about where we rank in the football pyramid and that the Premier League spells were only blips as a result of Jack Walkers's money, enthusiasm and direction. That's what the majority of other club's fans believe and that going toe to toe with the big city clubs in the 90's and 00's was inconsistent with our history. Not true. Our history shows that whilst we have not always been a dominant force, we have more than held our own at the top level, albeit with spells outside the top division. Does that mean we have an automatic right to be back in the Premier League? Not really, but then neither have the likes of Aston Villa, Derby County, Forest et al. The big difference currently is that the football authorities have redrawn the rules and are gradually making it more difficult to return through FFP. Teams are having to invent more and more devious ways of raising finance in the hope of being able to find the successful formula. In Rovers case, we play by the rules and with being unable to raise the same levels of revenue, we will always be at a disadvantage to the bigger clubs. It therefore becomes more critical that we use the resources we have in the most effective way. We can't afford to gamble on players with "potential" unless we plan to wait several years. Mowbray keeps saying that progress is being made but most fans don't see a couple of league places or a few more points on the board as progress. They want us to be challenging for promotion after 2 seasons back in the Championship. Is that a realistic objective given our current set up? Is there a strategy that will result in the objective being achieved? Who knows, because we never hear anything from the owners. All we can hope for is that Mowbray, Waggot and Co have a plan! -
Two other fat slugs? Totally agree Barry, what is it with these women who think fat lips are attractive?

The reality is that Nyambe is a far better full back than Bennett but for whatever reason he is usually the one to make way to ensure Bennett gets a game because of his “personality and character”. Without Nyambe we pose zero threat down the right side, no one to get at their full back. Without him it just ends up with Bennett punting an aimless cross in front of the defence who easily clear it. Defensively, as demonstrated against West Brom, Nyambe is far quicker and stronger than Bennett. It will be a shame if we do lose a player who really should be integral to building a new team going forward.

Never a red card. A foul but hardly serious foul play or dangerous. Whilst a bit rash, those kinds of challenges happen all the time. -

That’s unfortunate. It can be a bit daunting setting these things up even for those who do this regularly. There must be someone who can help you with this and get you up and running for the rest of the season. -

You’re making it sound as if the club are deliberately screwing the fans to make a profit. Its unfortunate if anyone can’t get to watch on iFollow and maybe they should be given an alternative deal. However, I hardly think that those fans will take their bat home because of it. If they do, in the current situation, then that’s very sad. Personally I would love to be able to watch Rovers next season but after 56 years it looks like I’m not going to be able to attend as I’m not going to risk my health. Many others will be faced with the situation. I sincerely hope that, regardless of what happens, we continue to have a club to support and are able to watch either in person or online. Kids buying me a cardboard cutout for Fathers Day. I know it’s ridiculous but I honestly can’t think of a better present. -

Of course we would prefer to be at the ground watching games, but we can’t. Of course we would like a refund on our season tickets or a discount off next season. Of course we want to watch games on iFollow as an alternative. As it stands the club are trying to finish the season without Covid making a bigger hole in the finances than it already has done. No match day income, money for testing, players wages etc. Let’s not have a go at the management for doing what they can, to try and ensure we still have a club to support next season and those following. -

No doubt Preston will now be pressing for the season to be decided on a PPG basis given that they are just hanging on to a play off spot. -

It may be entertainment but it is also a job for many involved in the game. There are risks but sooner or later we will all have to go back to work as government money can only last so long. If not, then we are all well and truly screwed. Providing adequate precautions are taken to ensure those involved do not have the virus, then those risks are going to be small and probably not much different to working outside on construction sites etc. -

Maybe there could be a new rule introduced whereby players are not allowed within 2 metres of each other and an electronic device fitted to alert referees to the infringement. A free kick would then be awarded. I suspect this would lead to a more free flowing game with none of this shirt pulling in the box but unfortunately lots of free kicks! -

Surely, we’re not just talking about the professional game being missed. Millions of people watch and play football at all levels. Hell, I’m missing playing 5–side once a week with my mates. We may not be able to visit Ewood or wherever for some time but being able to watch Rovers on TV would be a godsend at the moment, providing it’s safe to do so.
