Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
glen9mullan replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
An excellent signing on the face of it, good age, lots of championship expereience and a real engine. We may lose on the defensive front, but his end product in the final third will add much more than we've had since Emerton departed. Think this is great business -

Given Brittain has been a long term target, perhaps we are not as far behind on recruitment than it has appeared. Good players do get relegated, so not overly worried. He is a good age, very mobile and is one who would be first team ready from the off. The fee is a massive positive if reports are true, in the fact we are going to spend some money. I think recruiting late if we are making every penny count and being as sure as we can its value is not a bad thing. Had Barnsley not gone down, perhaps the fee may have been more? There is still much work to be done, but come September 1st, we maybe in a decent place in terms of who we've recruited. The loans out will be interesting too, as i'd like to think we are targeting clubs to loan to who are going to be challenging for league 1 promotion, as this would be a greater indicator of if our players can step up. I often think league 2 and non league which we have previously sent players to, gives them expereience but not at the level they will face in the championship -

I tend to agree, was never overly convinced either. Given we aint moved for Khadra i'd be surprised if we moved for Poveda. No doubt GB n JDT have their own targets in mind -

I believe he wanted 6.5k was a figure mentioned to me a few months back, Considering Gallagher is on an alleged near £20k i dont think what he wanted was silly money Not sure what he's settled on, just know its more than what we offered. Seems we played poker, and in fairness to Nyambe he stuck to his guns and wasnt buying it. -

He has signed for more PW than we offered, and there is an option for a rise and a mandatory contract extension based on appearances and Wigan retaining their championnship status. There is some performance incentives too, but that has not been elaborated on. Who drove the one year i dont know, but it appears it may have been Nyambe with everything ratcheting around them staying up.. Had that told to me in last half hour from impeccable source. Based on above its obvious wigan didnt want to saddle themselves with championship wages in division 1 if they went down. He gets his salary, they get buffer that if they stay up they trigger extension/or part ways dependent on performance Regarding what we offered, you are quite correct which was up from the £3500 he was on -

In fainess to Wigan, they have had a torrid time recently, but now have an owner who they adore who interacts directly with them and like Peterborough's owner is on twitter and speaks with supporters. They are in the championship, just like us and given the ease in which they came up, it would be wrong to write them off as a step back. Rovers of 12 years ago, its a massive step back, but rovers of present day i'm not so sure it is. -

That was my thoughts too, if we spend £1.5 on signing one, then that's great news in terms of funding transfers -

Dunno why but this made me think of Mcateer, Does everyone remember when we was gonna sign Stubbs and Mcateer, and when we didnt get one of them, we decided we didnt want the other? -

I've asked some questions at the wigan side from a friend who is part of the coaching team. I'm as livid as you regarding the situation, At the same time trying to be positive we may actually sign someone. However the facts are just not out there at present, bar he has signed a one year deal. Perhaps it needs its own thread? -

Can we park Nyambe for now, (will come back to it in a few days) Don't want to de-rail what could positive day and a possible signing, been nice to see a few pages of hope and the time for the inquest is not until we have all the facts. -

Reading up on him, struggled in championship, lost his place in team as their manager said he can't play wide or up front on his own. Asked to leave in January, after oxford came in for him, but due to the sale of the other guy to Bournemouth. Brittain seems a great capture, this guy probably not given he couldnt get into the Peterborough side -

I'm not too sure wingback is his natural position tbh, in the times i've seen him, he goes looking for the ball -

Brittain was the standout player for Barnsley when we played them last season, i remember my brother commenting on it at the time, and off memory I cant remember too many more who left a lasting impression throughout the season. He did seem to be all over the pitch cropping up in every position throughout the game, more as a travis than a wingback tbh in what I remember. If the fee is £1.5 million, then thats good news as it shows we are going to spend some money, Be a good capture i think. On another note be interesting to see if O'Hare signs for Burnley and what they are paying, as really like the look of him too, -

Just to correct the above Thomas has been in touch and said he was not the one who gave the list to Vineeth, so my apologies to him. However here is the link confirming it happened, written by Nick Harris, who saw the original correspondence as confirmed in his article. https://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/06/11/revealed-facebook-role-in-blackburns-transfers-as-fans-prepare-for-government-meeting-110601/ -

Back to the a supporter picking players days, where he made a list of players based on fifa ratings, contract expiry, gave it Vineeth Rao and he went chasing them. I remember Singh once ringing me to say Huddersfield had knocked back our bids for Rhodes, is there anyone else lol? I said tongue in cheek, errr marian chamakch however you spell it. I choked on my toast the morning after as the back page of the Telegraph said in big letters. ROVERS LAUNCH BID FOR ARSENALS CHAMAKCH. Its no more functional now, than it was then, and its not even funny -
Always happy to buy anyone a beer, and meet fellow supporters, feel free to say hello as im either in blues or fanzone at all home games

I certainly learnt a lot from each meeting, Be that talking to Hunt, Newsome, Coar, Beamish ,Shaw, Agnew, Singh, Silvester, Myers, Silk, Cheston. It was difficult at times especially when I became elected Chairman of the AG, as you'd have to put members thoughts across (which you didnt always agree with yourself) however you would address these with the same passion and delivery, as if they were your own thoughts. That being said ,i'm quite a straight talker and will always say it as it is, will re-direct a questions if I feel the answer is default and quite clearly not answering what is being asked. I dont get overwhelmed in meeting with anyone, and remain respectful and professional in meetings. I always tend to have back up to questions I ask, which is why they always found life most uncomfortable and ultimately are no longer here. Responses are rather predictable, which means, I dont make the questions predictable. I recall Paul Agnew sitting in Jacks chair and spurting how BRFCS, Twitter and the Action Group wont get rid of him. I did point out to him, that I will save that comment for a book, and would ask him his thoughts again in 6 months, however it would be unlikely he be still here. He was removed 4 months later!!! I will add, everyone is different and whoever you meet in the main are welcoming. The fear that they may break off communication can play on your mind a little, but then you get over that, as you realise your time and effort is worth far more to you than being fed garbage Given i'm no longer representative of anyone bar me, then I will certainly be asking everything which is currently concerning me
