Gally is a waste of space .. Not for me ...He’s on big wages too ... his loan fee would be high too ...

Rovers looking at Fodringham from Rangers ... as back up option

The longer this goes on the further we going down the Alphabet list !

Like I said TM wants to take the slow slow approach and “ Build” and wants to stay in the project ... Win or Bust is not for him and players who wear caps backwards! Managers are in it for themselves in the end just like some players.. The Rothwells might be clean cut looking wise but they are for the long term and big gambles and this team is basically the same that went down.....
-
The blame lays at the door of the manager .. they offered a bigger budget but TM refused this for whatever reason ... now he’s messing about for PL Loans and Players he knows ... bigger budgets come with bigger pressures....
-
Olli McBurnie for me ... good young strong player ... upwards turn on the worm chart ....

Aussie whiz-kid 15-year-old Chris Payne has been invited back for a second stint at Blackburn after Lucas Neill paid for him to travel to England for a trial at Ewood Park. Neill might be gone but his lagesse looks set to live on at the club where he says he spent five great years.
-
Neil has Finally gone!!! How much is $3.7 million in pounds any body? SOCCEROOS star Lucas Neill last night revealed why he chose to pledge his football future to battling West Ham and not pedigree club Liverpool - and insisted it wasn't about the money. After finally concluding a complex switch from Blackburn Rovers to the Hammers for a transfer fee of $3.7 million, Neill, speaking exclusively with The Sunday Telegraph, said he was motivated by ambition not greed. The versatile defender has signed a 2 year contract worth an estimated $150,000 a week - $70,000 more than Liverpool were prepared to pay. Its Not About money!!!

Another player who is claimimg that he could be very near...................................... Ali Boussaboun hopes that Feyenoord and Blackburn Rovers can soon come to an agreement about the transfer of the Moroccan international to the English club. “During Feyenoord-Blackburn I have obviously made an impact although I came in as sub. Also during the trial period things went well" Commented Boussaboun. "Engeland is the country of football, Blackburn is a beautiful club. The shirt and stadium are full of tradition. Blackburn would be great.” Boussaboun impressed Blackburn manager Mark Hughes. “He said that I did pretty well. That by itself is splendid, that such a great ex-player sees potential in me. I used to watch the man on tv playing for Manchester United and Barcelona.” In Rotterdam they don't have confidence in him. “I am free to leave, a sign that the coach would rather not have me here. Apparently I am not good enough for Feyenoord. It would be a disappointment If the deal does not go through” He concluded.

Latest is that both Okkas + Nesmanchniy have already starrted training with Rovers and will spend 4 and 3 days respectfully under the watchful eyes of sparky and his coaching staff. Rovers have also been linked with Clint Dempsey along with Fulham,Portsmouth,Everton. He is set to make his decision next week.
-
Rovers have signed Holding midfielder Mamadi Keita on pro terms. The German youth international is a very talented player and he should do well in the game in the very near future.

One of the problems is that there are to many players.Way too many. There are about 30 players for the Under 18 section plus another 20 with the researve players making it 50 players all together!!(All trying to get into a First 11 with 30 other first team players) Far too much and too expensive. The bigger the squad, the lower the standard. Then even the players playing regularly at the Academy level aren't involved in Reserve team training. But week in week out they play against teams where most players have experience at that level. So to progress is very difficult and younger players don't get the support they need. If you want young players to progress you have to push them,IMHO or else they will stagnate. You've to concentrate on few players and develope them. Stick with the one's you think might make it. But they choose big squads to be succesful. Winning is everything, not performance or development.

The Rovers Academy seem to target the Irish market alot these days and have alot of players at the moment from there. The likes of Keith Treacy,Conor Kavanagh,Alan Judge,Darragh Tuffy,Gavin Gunning, and Aaron Doran are just a few of the intakes for this past couple of years. Not to menton the liks of Kane and Nolan and that Fitzgerald bloke. The Staff at the academy have high hopes for Treacy and Judge but who can tell. IMHO it is time for Downes to look at this approach of "Loving all things Irish"and think what has he acheived by going down this particular road.I think they are all looking for the next Duff.It is obvious the management have a few "Favourites" at the club and have double standards which does not help in team bonding. I feel that Bobby Downes is from the "old school" and his ideas are the same and we do need to look at changing the management and take a different route.

[Archived] Sparky Wants Another New Striker?

Yep he sure did and he scored with a bicycle kick!!! Ala Mark Hughes used to in his hay days.Thats probabley what caught his eye.Link To The Goal v Rovers. Bits from the LT report : Olympiakos 5 V Blackburn 0....................... Olympiakos were quite simply irresistible going forward, cutting Rovers' makeshift defence to shreds at will, with Rivaldo and the equally impressive Predag Djordjevic the destroyers-in-chief. Employing a fluid 4-3-3 formation, Olympiakos caused Rovers all kinds of problems in the final third, yet Hughes later insisted he was not too perturbed by his team's overall performance, claiming it was still a more than useful exercise. Chances continued to come and go for both sides in an entertaining first half as IOANNIS OKKAS fired over for the Greeks, then Sergio Peter cracked a fierce half volley into the side-netting following clever prompting down the right from the marauding Didier Agathe. Olympiakos dominated after that as Friedel saved from Rivaldo, then Djordjevic and the Lively OKKAS both shot wide from inviting positions. Eventually, the pressure told and the Greeks fashioned a well-worked second on 31 minutes, OKKAS sneaking in on the blind side of Michael Gray to supply a pin-point cross for Djordjevic to head powerfully home. Hughes, who looked distinctly unimpressed on the sidelines, made five changes at the start of the second half, but that failed to stop the rot, OKKAS adding a brilliant third on 50 minutes with an acrobatic scissors kick. LT Report. -
My View On the game.................................... I thought they totally dominated the match from start to finish apart from 10 minutes from the end. They made Man U look very ordinary and not like a team which has hand picked the best youth level player in the world(apart from Mamadi). IMHO the players that stood out in the game were the 2 Central Defenders,Mark King (My MOM),Mamadia Keita and Junior Dadson. I thought Pezzoni and Winnard were excellent at the heart of the defence and never gave Brandy a sniff at the Rovers goal. The Left-back King for me was the Man of the Match yesterday and had a very good game with his running and skill. The thing is he has been at this level for nearly 2 and half years now and needs to move up now to really progress.he needs to build him self up as he is very light weight for a defender but played an exellent game yesterday. This was my first look at Mamadi Keita and I liked what I saw.The impression I got after watching his game very closely was that he has modeled himself on the Chelsea holding player Makalale.I call it the "Invisible position"where you do your job but no one Really knows how good you are untill when you are injured or leave the club, the first team is finding this out at the moment with Savage and we get to see how good he is when we have to watch the likes of Arron Mokoena.(thats another subject) Makélélé was described "the most important and yet least appreciated midfielder at Real Madrid".Club president Florentino Pérez infamously poured scorn on Makélélé's footballing abilities and proclaimed that Makélélé would not be missed, saying: "We will not miss Makélélé. His technique is average, he lacks the speed and skill to take the ball past opponents, and ninety percent of his distribution either goes backwards or sideways."( These are the atributes Mamdia should be aiming th have in his game) Real Madrid have not won a single trophy since Makélélé left!!!! Back to Mamadi,I thoght he had a very sound game especially the second half and showes his strength and his undoubted skill which was needed to gain some extra time in midfeild. He plays a VERY important part in the team which everyone can see and should appreciate. He looked very "Heavy legged" in he first half but ran that off in the second half. Junior Dadson was a "Thorn" all day yesterday for Man U with his Skill and Pace untill he was moved to the left-wing but overall he had a good game . My impression on Alan Judge was that he is too greedy and selffish in fact both of the Irish lads(Treacy)were very greedy and did not pass to there team mates when that was the better option IMHO.The Academy staff have high hopes for both. My marks for yesterday: Somodi (7) Bateson(7) Winnard(8) Pezzoni (8) KING (9) O'Keefe(7) Keita (8) O'Conor(7) Judge (6) Dadson (8) Treacy (6) Brierley (5)

Maybe this can help if anyone can translate it. Parr article

[Archived] Shabani Nonda Signs
unleaded replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
This is a nice little article on our new star striker. In the 82nd minute of Monaco’s European Cup semi-final first leg home match against Chelsea, Shabani Nonda trotted onto the pitch to try and help his team preserve a 2-1 lead. One minute later he had wheeled away in celebration, having raced onto a long ball from Jerome Rothen and flicked it low past Marco Ambrosio’s weak right-handed attempt at a save. That goal, plus last week’s performance that inspired a comeback from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 against Ajaccio, are proof that Nonda is a miracle patient. Just 7 months ago, the forward suffered a knee cruciate ligament injury AND a dislocated patella that were expected to rule him out for this season. The Burundi-born forward has always had what most call luck, but what professionals call hard work. This appetite for graft is the result of the young Nonda’s experiences of civil war in his homeland. In 1993 he and his family decided to flee the country with Nonda, already a promising footballer, signing for the top club in Tanzania, Young Africans. In 1995, after Young Africans had eliminated South African club Vaal Professionals from the African Cup winners Cup, he went south to join Vaal Pros for a single season before then making the move to Europe and signing for Swiss club FC Zurich. Initially, the young striker found settling in difficult. He was as much bemused by the weather as the culture, but FC Zurich’s coach Raimond Ponte recognized his potential and took him under his wing, inviting Nonda to lodge with him. This soon made a difference, and Nonda went on to score 36 goals in 75 games for FC Zurich, including a Swiss best of 24 goals in a season, and was named “Best Foreign Player” for 1997/1998. This meant a lot of attention for Nonda in the summer of 1998, notably from Borussia Monchegladbach and Italian club Udinese. But the player chose unfashionable Rennes, saying: “I could have joined a big club in Europe but Rennes struck me as ambitious and I’d have a chance to play my football.” 15 goals in his first season at Rennes had fans and journalists raving about Nonda’s physical play, which is combined with a delicate touch. To many, Nonda’s style is reminiscent of George Weah’s playing days at Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain. “When you watch Shabani the comparisons with Weah are immediate,” said Yves Colleu, the Rennes coach. Nonda bettered his first season with Rennes by scoring 16 goals in his second season, and had caught the eye of the Monaco scouts. Juventus were making overtures to sign David Trezeguet from Monaco, so Monaco promptly sold Trezeguet and spent the larger majority of the cash in signing Nonda in a £13.5 million deal, the largest ever internal French transfer. Nonda found the initial going at Monaco hard, but that was more due to the unrest at the club caused by certain senior players, such as Marcello Gallardo and Marco Simone, than a lack of talent. "Frankly, I didn't expect to have so many problems. When I went to Zurich I imposed myself straightaway, and the same at Rennes, but at Monaco I've discovered another world,” reflected Nonda in an interview with L’Equipe. New coach Didier Deschamps eventually sold the troublemakers at the end of Nonda’s first season. Nonda scored 12 goals in 27 matches in his first season, and 14 goals in 30 matches in his second. Not as impressive as might have been hoped, perhaps, but those figures still kept his average at one goal every two games. However, it was last year that Nonda really hit his stride for Monaco. Deschamps had carefully nurtured some youngsters, including Patrice Evra, a left back, and Jerome Rothen, a left winger. That potent combination unlocked goals for Nonda, and he finished as the top scorer in France with 26 goals in 35 games, leading Monaco to within one point of the title. Monaco then faced a fight for their future. Heavy debts almost forced the club into administration, and Nonda was on the verge of joining several clubs, including champions Lyon. Backers were eventually found, and despite having no transfer funds Monaco started the season optimistically. This season began well for the “new George Weah.” He scored 3 goals in the first 3 games, until Monaco traveled to the Parc des Princes, home of Paris Saint-Germain. 5 minutes into the match, Nonda fell under a heavy tackle from PSG defender Jose Pierre-Fanfan, and had to leave the pitch. The injury was expected to rule him out for the season, and Nonda feared for his career. "On the pitch I had to cope with the pain at first. Then when I got back to the locker room and I looked at my knee I started to say to myself that maybe this was the end. Straight away you think that it's all over, the world has come to a stop. You ask yourself a lot of questions and analyse everything," said Nonda. But Dr Jean-Henri Jaeger, the surgeon who operated on the player, has announced that he is “stunned” following Nonda’s extremely quick recovery. “When people told me he scored against Ajjacio I was really moved, it is extraordinary," Jaeger told L'Equipe. "I saw him one month ago and he seemed very fit, but frankly I could not believe he would resume so early. When he first came to meet me, he even asked himself if he would play again one day,” added Jaeger. “At that time he was afraid, but he had good reason.” Anyone who has witnessed Monaco’s, and Nonda’s, performances since his return from injury should feel that the team from the Principality are hard-working enough to beat Chelsea. And maybe then Nonda will be lucky enough to finally break his trophy duck with the biggest one of them all in club football: the Champions League. "Lucky Nonda" -

Rovers new signing Shabani Nonda Video Compilation. Little Info on the guy........... The lanky striker’s story began in Burundi, but he was soon forced to flee the country of his birth due to the civil unrest which has plagued the country for decades. Nonda’s love of the sport developed whilst playing in a refugee camp in Tanzania and it was here that his football journey would take flight. FC Zurich had spotted him playing for Young Africans and his move to the Swiss outfit proved to be highly successful, as he broke the country’s scoring record with 24 goals in a season. His talents went unnoticed throughout the major European Leagues, until Rennes came calling. He took Ligue 1 by storm, prompting Monaco to pay a French record £13.2m for his services. By this point he was also a full international after opting to represent his father’s homeland, DR Congo. His form for the Principality outfit was nothing short of sublime, prompting comparisons with some of the world’s best players. “He’s big, powerful and strong – very similar to Thierry Henry. He’s a great athlete who will scare the pants off any defender when he runs at them,” said former Monaco and Milan striker Mark Hateley. SHABANI NONDA COMPILATION !!ENJOY. -

Defender Lucas Neill, for one, is on the cusp of a big move from the backlot of unfashionable Blackburn down to neon-lit London, where Tottenham awaits. Other options for the 26-year-old, whose contract expires next June, are Newcastle, West Ham and Aston Villa. This is a bit of this articleEveryone hates Blackburn but we care!!
