  1. The one that got away!I think he scored 2 goals in a 8-0 win and still Souness could not make his mind up.Rej Volpato, called by some "the new Del Piero", at least partly because he came to Juve from Padova,he is at Siena now and is half owned by Juva. Manchester United have been linked with Siena youngster. The teenage striker is a former Juventus youth team product and is still half owned by the Turin giants. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sent scouts to watch Volpato play for Siena at Udinese last Sunday, where he hit a brace, and they returned purring over his skill. However, the 19-year-old striker, who has been likened to former Juve striker Pierluigi Casiraghi, is likely to return to the Stadio Delle Alpi at the end of the season.
  2. How much prize money would Rovers get if they finished 5th? Is there a prize money table somewhere anybody?Link?
  3. Rovers Won 1-0 to go top of table.
  4. Gary Bowyers tactics were the reason Rovers were beaten last night. The use of the subs or the lack of them in this case was the overall difference between the two teams.Brighton finished much stronger and with the players stuggling with cramp, Bower still did`nt put some fresh legs on. Overall this team(apart from Clarke & Judge)was very poor.Garner has been found out at this level and looks a different player at this level.
  5. Blackburn Rovers Academy beat Liverpool Youth 1-0 on saturday to go back to top of the league.Rovers winner was scored by Abdi Ahmed(pictured below), a midfeilder signed from Man U.
  6. Thankyou Lee, we don`t know what we`d do without your "insight".I have said it before and am not ashmed to say it again, we Rovers fans are very lucky to have Lee working on the "Senior" site.We must have the best Academy site on the PTV Brand. Thankyou.
  7. Lee, seeing as you were at the Youth match last night, can yoy give us your marks out 10 for each player and a breif discription of how each player played IYHO.Thanks.How did woods play?
  8. Good article. Pity Arsenal got beat by Brentford!!Fa youth cup.
  9. Admin Lets have a Poll.I for one want David Dunn back.
  10. Sergio Peter has been in red hot form lately for the researves and now is the right time to give him a quick dip in the first team waters and see how he shapes up,Come on Sparky put him on the bench to send MGP a wake up message.
  11. Lee thankyou for your insight on the youth side.Talking of Keith Treacy where is the young lad these days? Is he injured or something?will he be playing in the youth cup V Spurs?
  12. Lee, what i am trying to say is that the academy has got a very poor defence this year apart from the goali(Feilding). The likes of Thomas,Thomson,King are very poor/average players and it does`nt matter that they are 17 or 27, lately the results have showed that(last 3 games:6-1(lost),4-3,(lost)drew2-2(drew).This team(Academy) with these players in defence will not do well(IMHO) this year.If the coaches cannot see that then it is very sad for BRFC.
  13. Yes Lee you can tell a good player straight away. When Rovers signed Nelsen, Mark Hughes said that you could tell in the first half hour that we had to sign him!The players that come over mostly have 1 match to show the manager what they can do or what they can`t. It does not take a genius to figure out that the above mentioned players especially the academy defence will be found out this season(6-1 anda 4-3 )he best Players in theire Opionions. This bloke Thomson and Tompson are not very good defenders and i am sure they have been with the Rovers set up for a long time now and if the coaches still can`t tell if they are good defenders then we do have a problem. know the scouts pick them but then they have to play in trial matche in front of these so called coaches so really they have`nt seen them just onece.
  14. Lee IMHO this current position truely reflects this current Academy team`s rightful place, when they were top and you went and watched them you had to say that it was a bad reflection on the National Academy system. The likes of Thompson( this guy is so fat and yet the Academy staff are not doing anything about it),Barr,Thomsom, king,Howarth are never going to make it in the game(IMHO)and they should be let go asap for there sake and for Rovers`s aswell. My tips for the Top are: Ralph Welch Sergio Peter Frank Fielding-excellent Young player.Big hopes Dark Horses with a bit of hard work: Junior Dadson Ryan Woods Abdi Ahmed P.s Lee was the Man City striker who scored the hattrick for them by any chance Daniel Sturridge?Do you see any similaraties in Junior Dadson and Sturridge?
  15. Great news.Well done the F.A. I think Khissi will play right back now on saturday.
  16. I think Sergio Peter is a good player and worth a new contract.Rovers have made good contacts in Germany and are increasing the amount of players from the German market. They have just this season signed Kevin Pezzonni and Mamdia Keita, both German under 17 internationals. Keita signed from FC Klone in particular is worth keeping an eye on and was chased by the big German Clubs before opting for the Rovers. Keita
  17. Rovers Academy beat Barnsley 2-0 today. Rovers lined up: 1. Frank Fielding 2. Dean Winnard 3. Mark King 4. Josh O'Keefe 5. Adam Thomas 6. Stephen Thomson 7. Alan Judge 8. Abdi Ahmed 9. Jamie Clarke 10. Joe Garner 11. Keith Treacy SUBS 12. Andrew Haworth 13. Zak Jones 14. Jonathan Bateson 15. Raffaele Devita 16. Junior Dadson
  18. What is Dickov doing? I just don`t understand what is going on in his mind. The guy is a disgrace and should be taken to account by the manager.A simple fine means nothing to the modern day player and after all the flack of last season which this club received he goes and does that.I hate this kind of football and it "kills" the game in more ways then one.Hughes has still got no creativity in the team, after admitting last season on more then one occasion that he had no one with the "key to unlock" and this will be a major problem if not addressed before the transfer deadline.
  19. There`s a winger/striker by the name of Abdi Ahmed(Somalian) who should be playing for the Academy this year worth keeping an eye on.I remember him playing for Wales in the victory Sheild and leading them to the finals with his goals for the first time , since a certain Mark Hughes lead Wales to the finals.I think Rovers pinched him from Man U. Here`s a link passed on by someone who`s seen him play this year and a certain Keith Treacy is in the opposing team. Rovers starlet.
  20. Todays LET reporting that Bellamy`s ankle has flared up again during training this week.I think Hughes has put all his eggs in one basket regarding transfer funds.
  21. After the Last game of the germany tour Hughes said that if that game had been today Bellamy would have played.Since that game we have played Swansea and Grimsby and still no sign of Bellamy.
  22. I also heard these comments off our manager Hughes regarding bellamy. It just shows our manager tells porkies but why play mind games in pre-season and with who is he playing these mind games,no other then Swansea and Grimsby.
  23. Keith Treacy (Blackburn Rovers) from Sherrif Street, Dublin, is a highly rated left sided midfielder who first earned Ireland honours at Under 15 level. Formerly with Belvedere, Keith Treacy was Ireland’s top scorer at Under 16 level with six goals last season before moving to Blackburn Rovers. Capable of playing wide in midfield as well, Treacy is a powerful, tall attacker who strikes fear into the opposition with his direct style of play.
  24. Looks like Hughes knows when there`s a good striker or Not like in this case! I am sure i read this headline in the L.E.T
  25. This is the latest translated report on the 1860 game in Germany. From what i can make out is the following 1)Flitcroft instead of Gallager regarding the scorer 2)This was 1860`s only draw having won there last 6 preseason games!(These included werder Breman(3-1),Borussia Mönchengladbach(2-1) 3)Hughes was happy with a good work out and said this team will get promoted to the german bundazliga and there coach said it "was a fair result" 4)Matt Derbyshire was sent off in the 70 odd minutes for a takle from behind on there brazilian player who was also sent off for fighting back. 5)Hughes will return on wednesday to watch 1860`s next match V West Ham to do a bit of spying. 1:1 After six victories in past preparation plays there was the first undecided with the 1:1 against English Prime Minister League club the Blackburn Rovers in the play. Led the lions up to 88. Minute with 1:0. The best snapshots of the play:The spectators in Landsberg at the lech, the Upper Bavarian town at the romantic road, saw a balanced first half with few gate chances. The best was offered on sides of the lions Nemanja Vucicevic after whistled for the start already briefly. The turning shot of the Serb also left from eleven meters could turn US national goalkeeper Brad Friedel in the Blackburn gate straight still around the post (3.). In the 8. Minute showed up then lion Keeper Michi Hofmann on the post. By foot defense it parierte a shot from pointed angle of the Norwegian Morton Pederson from short distance. Then long time did not pass anything. Only two distance shots of Daniel Baier (23.) and Matthias Lehmann (36.), scarcely the Rovers gate missed, provided for unrest. Briefly before the break the giant chance was offered to the Englishmen to go into guidance. After a corner defender cut back Andy Todd on the lion gate. Patrick Milchraum, who saved at the long post, for its goal keeper on the line (44.), already struck. Thus it went torlos into the break. On lion side the agile Emmanuel Krontiris with good Dribblings could please again as well as the agile Baier, whose last passport unfortunately did not find however the fellow player. In the 56. Minute made it better for Vucicevic than at the beginning of the play. The 25-year old with a flat shot from twelve meters crowned a single-handed attempt in the right lower hits a corner to the 1:0 for the sixties. Afterwards Blackburn took over more and more the initiative, pushed on reconciliation. The play became increasingly harder. Negative high point in the 71. Minute. Matt Derbyshire graetschte Rodrigo Costa from the rear into the legs, the Brazilian takes itself revenge for this brutal and unnecessary foul, whereupon arbitrator George Schalk sent the two contractors prematurely for showering. When everything counted on the sieved lion victory in the sieved preparation play, Garry Flitcroft made the Sechzigern a line by the calculation. Free standing the midfield player defeated Timo Ochs with a dry shot in for a long time hits a corner (88.) to the 1:1-Endstand. Coach of pure bricklayers spoke of a fair result. The circumstance that Blackburn gave gas after the 0:1-Rueckstand powerfully, came the lion loewen-Coach straight quite: "that it in the 2. Half time to the thing went, sees positive I regarding our first point play. With security likewise nothing will give us awls." Mark of Hughes, its counterpart on Blackburn side, spoke of a very good test. "as 1860 presented myself, is convinced I that the club turns again into the federal league back." Its team that for two weeks in the preparatory phase is and meets on Tuesday in a further test in Tirol on material Mallorca, starts the point round against west Ham United. Therefore Hughes wants to come also on Wednesday to the play observation into the alliance arena. Impact is at 19.30 o'clock. 1860: Hofmann (46th Ochs) - Lamotte (46th Cerny), Szukala (60th Komljenovic), Lanzaat (46th Costa), hoping man (46th shepherd) - Vucicevic (60th Reisinger), Baier (82nd Shao), Lehmann (60th Meyer), milchraum (46th Gebhardt) - Krontiris (68th eagle), Agostino (46th Kolomaznik). Blackburn: Friedel (46th Enckelman) - Neill (75th Douglas), Taylor (43rd McEveley), Todd, Nelsen, Mokoena (68th Derbyshire), Emerton (46th Tugay), Reid, Kuqi (68th Flitcroft), Pedersen (46th Gallagher), Bellamy (75. rake in). Gates: 1:0 Vucicevic (56.), 1:1 Flitcroft (88.). Yellow: - Neill. Red: Costa - Derbyshire (71.). Spectator: 2600
