  1. As a supporter I chose not to support the current regime at the club - in fact, I actively oppose it. I am a supporter and believe the best way to support the club is to try everything possible to persuade the current owners to leave. One of the few weapons I have is to not attend home matches. I wouldn't consider this bleating ( or bleeting! - this would get you zero points in scrabble )
  2. Imagine the disappointment of getting the Aynsley Pears card in a game of Top Trumps!
  3. We won't if we don't try! Even if it is small numbers involved to start with, momentum will build. What's the saying? - "Educate, Agitate and Organise"
  4. Totally agree that NAPM would not affect them financially in any significant way. However, a totally empty stadium with lots of media coverage ( and maybe protests outside the ground ) would be acutely embarrassing and would reflect badly on them. That is our only weapon.
  5. Lots of people coming to the same conclusion - We need to get rid of Venky's As others have said, Blackpool fans got it right - NAPM. They had very well organised fan groups who got good coverage in the media and released regular, well presented statements. They had a very well respected leader in Christine Seddon and everything they did seemed to be supported by 90% of the fanbase. The whole of Blackpool seemed to be involved - pubs had banners, taxi's had bumper stickers -'Oyston Out' painted on walls. They had some luck in the end with the court case going against Oyston but the fans were a big part of getting the case brought in the first place. We need to get organised. I thought we were getting somewhere with the meeting at Blakey's when Coyle was appointed but it all fizzled out. The only weapon we have is non-attendance and a media campaign. Everyone who loves the club needs to be involved. An organised effort may get results - we can have an influence. Operation Empty Ewood - Reclaim the Rovers.
  6. Hi O2G - I wasn't questioning your role at all. I appreciate it's voluntary and writing meeting minutes is tedious work - so thanks, keep it up. I was just wondering if Mr Waggott had a substantial input into the minutes after the initial draft. If not then that's my question answered. Cheers. It would be interesting to get a little more detail on the discussions though - who was involved, was serious consideration given to changing the manager ? What was the overriding factor in the final decision? Will he definitely be leaving at the end of his contract ?
  7. I agree about the style of play and it was a terrible game of football but Morecambe were organised from front to back and from start to finish. Totally solid in defence. Mowbray could learn a thing or two from Derek Adams about organising a defence and getting results due to good coaching. I believe he is off to Bradford next season.
  8. The question may have been asked but the meeting minutes are sent to Waggott for approval before being published. I suspect that any real details are redacted unless they fit the current narrative. Look at the actual wording: so he (SW) felt that they(the owners) deserved to make key decisions like the manager’s role. The position had been discussed and it had been decided that Tony Mowbray would be staying. He mentions the 'manager's role' as a decision for the owners ( ie the specifics of what a manager's job is at the club ) but he does not state that the discussions about 'the position' of manager invovled the owners. I suspect the discussions took place between Waggott and Mowbray. If the owners had spcifically told Waggott that they wanted Mowbray to stay it would have been in the minutes.
  9. I wonder if they have decided to move in this direction to provide a superior quality product at great value for the long suffering fans who deserve a reward ? or are they hoping to make more money this way?
  10. If Armstrong has ambitions of playing in the premiership there is no way he will sign a new deal. He could have another good season and walk away on a free. Why tie himself down by increasing the price Rovers could demand if he has an extended contract.
  11. How about #NoShirtsOnTilMowbraysGone -it may be more noticeable - remember Tango Man from Sheffield wednesday.
  12. Personally, I doubt there has even been any discussions. I wouldn't think the owners are really giving Rovers much thought at the moment (even less than they normally do!) If Mowbray had to put a case forward, how could he possibly defend his position ? He has always said we need to build slowly, continue the journey and develop the team's identity. After 4 years, this has failed miserably, the journey is in reverse and the only player with an identity other than 'bog standard jouneyman' or 'unfulfilled potential' will be leaving very soon. What can Mowbray possibly do in his one remaining season, with the sqaud he has other than continue to fail. What can he pitch to the owners to convince them he is still the man for the job? If there were discussions about a new manager next season it just proves that the only people who care for the club are us - the fans. Nobody with any clout within the club gives a rat's arse.
  13. Boycott all tickets - operation empty Ewood. Reclaim the Rovers.
  14. Talking to PNE fans at work and most are 'OK' with the appointment though not particularly excited - as you would expect. They keep pointing out two previous internal managerial appointments that went well - David Moyes and Billy Davies
  15. If Mowbray has a zoom meeting with India he will be reminding them that the 'journey' was reset to the beginning this season due to a really exciting change in style of play. He will need at least another 2 or 3 years to achieve the team's new identity - but don't worry the profit from Armstrong's sale will really help things along and Dack will be back before we know it. India will probably swallow it. Only half joking!
  16. I would honestly prefer this option to the current purgatory.
  17. If Mowbray stays in position they may well be waving at us as they pass us on the way up and we go in the opposite direction. They have everything we don't - engaged owners, positivity among the fanbase and hope for the future - not to mention season tickets on sale for 21/22. Chairman Sharon Brittan said "I am delighted that we are able to offer your season tickets at a lower price than you paid last season if you renew during the early purchase period"
  18. William Hill now have Ainsworth 1/2 for PNE job, nearest challanger McAvoy 8/1 - looks nailed on. Can't help thinking we will be at opposite ends of the league table next season. Gutted
  19. Lancashire Post has Ainsworth 6/5 favorite for PNE job with only McAvoy really challanging at 4/1. I'm sure the paper has some inside info so I guess the job will be his if he wants it. I'd be absolutely gutted if he goes there.
  20. I totally understand your dilemma and I know many are in the same position with a decision to make. I would use the word reject or boycott rather than abstain. Take the positive action of not attending. Disapproving chants within the stadium will not reach the ears of Venky's. They would not take any notice anyway. If the first match with fans in attendance is the first of a new season then there won't be too many dissenting voices - new season, new hope etc. An organised protest outside an empty stadium will be noticed and hit Venky's financially. A total boycott is the only way to get their attention and media coverage. Embarrass them into submission.
  21. Maybe you could argue that he's done his apprentiship at Wycombe and is now ready to step up. Didn't Martin O'Neill do exactly the same thing? I understand that birthpalce and personal loyalties don't normally increase someone's suitability for a manager's job but Rovers' fans are desperate for some clarity and honesty within the club - not the sort that Mowbray preaches buth the sort that is heartfelt and genuine. Ainsworth would bring that and I can't think of any other candidate that would. My fear is that Mowbray will not be replaced and Ainsworth will move elsewhere and be a success.
  22. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a summer meeting which could mean Mowbray remains in situ by default - totally understandable with the terrible situation in India at the moment. Some things are more important than a football manager's job. Doesn't change my view on Venky's but I hope the situation over there improves quickly for everyone.
