Stewarding and the club/fan relationship
roversWASmylife replied to Mike Graham's topic in Messageboard Gold
but the club say they haven't thrown anyone out for standing up. Yes, I am aware of that. However, but don't you expect there to be standers from both ends against Liverpool? We get told to sit down, yet 8,000 Scousers stand up. My point originally wasn't about the club saying that nobody got chucked out for standing. Just my general opinion on how Rovers treat the fans is dreadful, they can't keep going the way that they are. -
Stewarding and the club/fan relationship

It doesn't matter whether they tell visiting supporters to sit down with leaflets, signs etc. Normally the majority of away supporters do stand when they visit Ewood Park, on occasions away supporters who visit Ewood do sit. Against Liverpool, will they take any notice of the signs that they are given ? The club need to sort it out, either they let both sets of fans stand or they don't. I'd love to John Newsham and co sort the Darwen End against Liverpool. -

Chelsea 3 - 1 Rovers However Chelsea do in the Champions League during the week, will make no difference in my opinion they still will be good enough to beat us. -

Exactly my thoughts. What I saw of on Saturday was several Boro fans in the boxes behind us giving us certain gestures, whilst everyone could see it, nothing was done about it, as I know of. Like Hughsey said it’s only a minority that want to get behind their team that we love. It’s not fair at all, that we get told every week to sit down yet the thousands of away fans in the Darwen End stand continuously throughout the game. The Liverpool game will be interesting. Liverpool fans will stand, yet I bet none of them do sit down, even if they are told to do so. But, I will put money on it that a Rovers fan will face ejection from the ground. The only way for this to stop, is if people protest in some way about it, but go in a sensible way about it -
[Archived] David Thompson?
roversWASmylife replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Well said. The central midfield duo of Ferguson and Thompson suggests a midfield ready to battle and create opportunities for others in the team. Flitty when partnered with Barry hasn’t worked. Flitty’s hasn’t got the legs to cover ground like he used to, I feel Thompson could. Tugay, his performances lately have been poor. Against Villa he gave many passes away and generally when he’s man-marked he’s out of the game straight away. -
Stuart Ripley for me. He was a brilliant winger, there are not many wingers today like Ripley. Never given a real chance in the England team, got subbed because of injury against Moldova a few years back I think. The cross to Shearer at Anfield in 95 was what he was about.

I don’t know what to say. The club are treating the fans like we’re nothing. I saw everything that happened in the Blackburn End, we were all laughed and had numerous gestures shown towards us by the Boro “fans” in the box behind us. The club have to realise that they can’t keep treating us like this, it’s pathetic. I was asked to show my card before going through the turnstiles, don’t know why they were asking for them. I wonder what it’s going to be like against Liverpool? -

One of the worst games I've seen at Ewood in many years. Defensively, we are appalling. We can’t defend, simple as that. Amoruso needs to be replaced, if we can find anybody better to play instead of him. After going down to ten men Boro had the game for the taking. We were poor, but they were good, attacking wise. They knew when to deliver the final pass and when to shoot. We're not good enough, things have to improve otherwise its going to be another struggling season. -
It's a good album, but it's not as good as Halfway Between The Gutter and The Stars and You've come a long way baby. But all good albums to listen to.

Paul - I understand your points. But across the whole of Europe, several European countries do have seater-stadiums. Take Broussia Dortmund - seater stadium yet they have a segregated area where fans, if they wish to do so are allowed to do so. Same is with AS Roma in Italy. -
Has to be Colin Hendry for me. Always gave his best, commited to the club, not only a great player but a fantastic person as well.

I bought The Best Of Groove Armada on Saturday, well worth buying if you like the songs that they have done. Also got The Killers copied a few days ago, that's well worth listening to.

Even though we let slip two points, the performance was very encouraging once again. I thought the team looked nervous in the first half, Ferguson and Dickov were two players, who stood out for me in the first half, probably the only ones. I’m sick and tired of seeing Amoruso and Tugay on the pitch. Amoruso isn’t good enough, his passing is nervous to watch, he isn’t quick enough to play as a centre half against top quality strikers, week in week out. Although I think it depends on the type of striker Amoruso plays against which can depend on whether he’ll have a good game or not. Tugay yet again gave away most of his passes again. There were a lot more positives to take from the game, that’s a first to be said after a game at Ewood within a good year. Dickov, Emerton, Barry and Youri, who had a very good debut game, all played well and contributed and looked most threaten against Villa. Overall I think a draw was a fair result. Villa had their faire share of chances in the first half and always looked dangerous. From our point of view, the way we conceded their second goal was typical Rovers defending. On the whole I believe we’re under the right manager and are heading in the right direction. Mark Hughes is managing very well with the squad that has been left for him. -

It really is pathetic. We all pay x amount a season to watch "our" team. The fans do their best to back the team all the way throughout the game. I think we'd all agree that standing does create a better atmosphere. What I find most annoying and I'm sure most of us do on here, is that there is a small minority who do wish to stand. However game after game we get told to sit down, yet the majority of visiting supporters who come to Ewood to watch their team, never seem to have anything done about it. Germany and other European Countries have areas within the stadium so that they can stand, if fans wish to do so. Why couldn't that solution be introduced here? You can't have one rule for us and another for others... -

Rovers 1 - 2 Villa I can`t see us winning this. Villa in my opinion are much stronger both defensively and attacking wise, so it has to be an away win. But, you never know with the Rovers. Barry needs a good game to get himself going again. Not too sure where Youri will play, if selected. -
[Archived] How Good Is Rooney?
roversWASmylife replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If he keeps his head down and gets on with it he’ll be fine. He’s already proved at Euro 2004 that he can play against the best. He is class; the next World Cup is when I’ll make my final decision on Rooney. His goals last night were brilliant, especially the second goal. Considering he’s only eighteen and scored a hat-trick on his debut for United, not bad at all. -

roversWASmylife replied to Brownie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
If you think Matteo is scum then that`s your opinion, but in my opinion if you`re going to give a reason like that against someone, especially for our club. In my opinion Matteo will never be the club`s best signing ever and I also think he`s poor I will back him and give Matteo my full support whilst he plays for Rovers. All I`m bothered about is how well a player does on the pitch for the team, I don`t care what they do off it. -
[Archived] Souness Goes To Newcastle
roversWASmylife replied to Brownie's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
That’s what Souness put out as his team. Bellamy on the right wing, who really never cause Le Saux any problems in the game and Jenas who I can never remember seeing him take on Southampton’s right back. He later brought on Milner for Kluivert, Milner came on to the right wing with Bellamy going up front and Robert who remained on the bench all game. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
roversWASmylife replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Well said that man, can't really complain if he does half as good a job as he did with wales we'll be up there in the top 10 Totally agree. The man hasn’t even managed a game yet. In my opinion I think he’ll do well for us, he seems a level-headed manager and will quietly get on with the job, which is what we needed. Whether you like it or not, Hughes is going to be our manager for some years to come. Support him; don’t get on his back straight away. I’m confident that he’ll do well for us. -
[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
roversWASmylife replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Out of the choice of managers that were names in the media and on here, I’d have to say that he was the first choice for me. However I would like to see the list of the thirty “top class” who applied for the job at Rovers. Overall, I’m glad Hughes is the one that has been picked. A young manager, who will want to prove himself. -
It’s pathetic to see people who call themselves “football supporters” who aren’t bothered at all about watching the game and all they’re bothered about is looking for fights all day. If it’s them who I’m thinking of, I have seen them a few times, I can remember them giving the finger to Bolton fans as they were getting escorted by Police outside the Reebok a while back.

Blackburn 2 - 1 Portsmouth Scrappy game, end to end with poor defending from both teams, with us just snatching it at the end. A must win game.
