  1. Mashed Potatoes Looking at those clubs over the last few years are they really a step up ? Derby County Income 0 Expenditure 4.64 Swansea Income 3.5 Expenditure 5.58 Blackburn Rovers Income 13.4 Expenditure 3.59 And of course, nobody has as more dysfunctional a hierarchy than Rovers. On sackings, yes JDT was too subtle -you could stuff a chicken up SWAG's backside and he wouldn't leave. You'd need to constantly call the Venkys and Pasha idiots in press conferences and you might just do it.
  2. DJ at the ground has a sense of humour. The Who 'Won't get fooled again'. 🙂
  3. The whole of that post is full of contradictions. So you suggesting that if we were to wash our face, the owners are more likely to go?
  4. We have had that (the latter part of the sentence obviously) for several years. How does that get rid?
  5. Einstein's defintion of insanity often comes to mind. 🙂
  6. Yep, you've got to pay to get out of this gig 😉
  7. Why? You going to slap them with a wet kipper? Or will the same happen that always happens -very little?
  8. Scatalogical but succinct. More narratives than Hans Christian Anderson. 🙂
  9. I think if you find a wider pic, El Tel is in the background on the left.
  10. Summer will be interesting. What will JE do? Do we have another rabbit to pull out of the hat or has all the silverware finally been sold off?
  11. Brannigan -ran the show, scored the goal.
  12. Ah, if only someone with an empire worth £2billion would be show some ambition.
  13. SWAG crossing his fingers for a few mill £ should he impress in the shop window.
  14. Rid but no signs. I question the amounts put in but even if the case it cannot possibly be hurting the Raos personally. Nobody is saying spend 20-30 mill on a player (although that would be easy for them) but the signs are of a total lack of interest in the club from the owners bar keeping the lights on. They have stumbled on a manager who is working miracles. A modicum of player investment could reap rewards down the line. That is what owing a football club is about. Of course, championship sides have to cut their cloth but do you really think that if any other side in this League had owners worth £2billion, they wouldn't be spending it more than we are? The worst of all worlds-limbo. I do not accept the narrative that 'it is what it is' and we should accept it.
  15. Chicken feed for them and no doubt can be offset elsewhere.
  16. I think Balaji's son is around 30.
  17. Their (the Raos) philanthropy includes free hospitals, schools and daily food handouts for Pune's poor. But not Rovers.
  18. Again most football clubs aren't. But most (except the duff ones) choose to reinvest wisely and do a certain amount of careful speculation for accumulation/success. Perhaps they could sell a few cars? Demonstrably they have money to invest where they see fit. 'Four-wheelers are my only extravagance,' says Venkatesh, or Venky to friends, slightly abashed at his admission as we talk in the family's marbled, high-security bungalow complex in the hills above Pune. There are five top-end cars in the courtyard outside. There are 69 others on the driveway and in the garage. Venky has 'only' 23 motors. Balaji, pony-tailed, open-shirted and adorned with golden jewellery and a holstered pistol - imported, licensed and loaded - boasts 51 vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley and a new customised £100,000 Hummer.
  19. Nearly all football clubs lose money. Assuming your figures are correct, it is hardly a dent in the Rao's company which is worth around £2billion. The Raos themselves expect success in the long term, whatever the sceptics say. 'Our goals are simple,' says Venkatesh Rao, 45, who co-owns the VH Group with brother Balaji, 38, and sister Anuradha. 'We want to keep the fans happy and make the club better. 'As and when required, we will invest, in a responsible way, but let me be clear: money will not be a problem. I am not going to promise specific figures but if we need to spend £5m on something, we'll spend it. If we need £10m, £15m, £20m, we'll do it. We won't compromise on quality. We are prepared to spend a lot over time.'
  20. A phrase to cover all lack of ambition and maintain the status quo.
  21. Loved Law as a player (and all such players of his type). Scrawny, skilful, looked like his shirt would fall off him (‘weak and puny’ they said LOL), the long sleeves, cuffs in hand, dodging reducers and defenders who wanted to kill him on terrible pitches, the simple goal celebration, two footed, great leap for not the tallest. Learned on the streets of Aberdeen with a tennis ball. Great player on the pitch, gentleman and humble off it. RIP Denis
  22. Herbie Think I was suggesting that issuing shares to existing shareholders creates cash (at the expense of existing shareholders) but not really affecting personal wealth of directors as such. Cf most AIM shares.
  23. If you search back through the Indian Government/court case thread you will find plenty. Upside down did a sterling effort collating a lot of info.
  24. Lots of posters come on these boards (presumably who thought they were pretty clued up)and are suprised by various facts pointed out. I was one when I learned of the horrific treatment Glen suffered (thought I knew most of the shennanigans that went on towards protesters.) But I'll leave it there -wrong place really.
  25. Shareholders then but not the Raos. But yes they own the company. Expanding through share issues may dilute the company but only indirectly the Rao's fortune. And I'm sure they have other ways to offset dilution.
