  1. Neither was Dolan when he joined tbf. If he's good enough, he's old enough. All gambles but at least ones that could come off, which is a nice change. Next priority needs to be a keeper though, we can have all the strikers in the world but I expect we'll play tight games with Eustace and Pears drops too many clangers over a season for a team playing that way.
  2. Maybe that's a reference to some past transgression, but I'd love to see what in his post you're refuting, as it's all fairly common knowledge at this point. Even if the first transfer is finalised we're still a net negative from a dire squad last season. We'd need 3 or 4 good players in (not a bunch of nobodies with zero experience) before I'd feel even the slightest bit better about oir predicament.
  3. That is another beauty. Macron really have outdone themselves again this year.
  4. It's going to take a miracle to salvage next season as it stands. I think we are comfortably in line for a 24th placed finish and may even be fighting for that all-time low points tally. Eustace may genuinely never see a home win if this is the squad we're going with. If Venkys can't/won't fund us and we have to be completely self sufficient, then we may as well be supporter run. Either scenario is not sustainable, but at least with one it's ran by people who care. But of course, like many clubs before us, the FA/EFL won't do anything and will let the club rot.
  5. Ultimately we'll see who is chosen, and they will get their chance, English or otherwise. I highly doubt we're ever going to get runs as "easy" as the last few tournaments, so whoever comes in is going to have to step it up as far as the football goes. There will be risks with all of them, but most of the names mentioned certainly have both positives and negatives. Even the likes of Pep and Klopp have big question marks when it comes to tournament football, and for me Pep's football is as boring as Southgate's but in a different manner. They have some time now to properly look at it and not rush a decision and hopefully they have a succession plan in place.
  6. Stones was also very good and Konsa came in out of the cold and looked solid as well. The defence was mostly solid, but we need to get a new LB in the squad. Biggest issue is clearly how we move forward, and that is as much a manager issue - we have no identity moving forwards because the manager doesn't like attacking.
  7. I saw someone saying Gareth was better than Sven because he got to finals. Sven lost to a generational Brazil team, was robbed in 2004 by a refereeing decision and admittedly was poor in 2006. But Gareth loses every one of those games too. He is tactically inept but manages to scrape past poor teams through moments of brilliance and luck.
  8. It's not about who would definitely win one, it's about giving someone the chance. Gareth has had 4 chances now and has scraped his way through easier runs and been tactically outclassed every time the going has gotten tough. He clearly is unwilling to choose players on form or to change things until things start going wrong. We know he is incapable. Having someone else try something new and fall short doesn't exactly vindicate the current manager, who has also won sweet FA.
  9. Potentially, but to say England don't have technical players is nonsense. The likes of Stones, Bellingham and Foden are all more than capable of playing in technical teams, we have Wharton on the bench who we all know can play that role and we have a number of attacking wingers who can play like that too. A fit Kane is also a very capable player with the ball at his feet. Of course, playing those players in a system that relies on slow, turgid hoofball isn't exactly going to work properly. They could have performed better for sure. There is a big argument that England have relied on players pulling moments of magic out of thin air to get where they did, because our system is ineffective.
  10. I personally think he should have gone after the World Cup semi. He's always been tactically awful in big games.
  11. Guehi, Stones, Pickford solid all tournament for me. But unfortunately, it's that that says everything. The midfield, and especially the forwards have majorly let themselves down. We got to the final by sheer luck and then were lucky it wasn't a rout.
  12. That is an absolutely horrendous stat (even if it is xG) and shows how badly we've stunk up this tournament.
  13. If he stays in Carvajal's pocket they can save a fare. Absolutely anonymous again, needs to take a step back after all that yapping he was doing in the Slovenia game and think about how he's playing.
  14. We've turned up for one half all tournament. We deserved to lose by 3 or 4 there and that second half performance was amongst the worst.
  15. And there we go. Get the PE teacher gone. Absolutely rancid performance
  16. Great goal, but we've done the classic Southgate thing of sitting back as soon as we score and letting the other team get back into the ascendency. It's so frustrating to watch
  17. 2 tap ins and a penalty, literally any of our other strikers could have scored them and actually added something to the rest of the team.
  18. Kane off, wasted 60 mins of the game for no reason. In the squad for sentimentality rather than form.
  19. Give over, they're twice the team we are on and off the ball
  20. This is the kind of game that shows why we need a new manager. Top international teams have an identity and style of play and dictate the tempo. Spain are levels above us. Utterly horrific performance in this half so far.
  21. Gareth getting outclassed by a half time tactical change. Classic Gareth.
  22. Rodri being injured could be huge both in terms of the team and psychologically - we should be looking to step up and take charge of that midfield.
  23. I'd argue it's like the 2nd half of the semi - we need pace to stop their defence pressing up against our midfield to give them space. Spain tired against France so I'm hoping that happens again and we can unleash some fresh legs off of the bench. It's winnable if Gareth wants it
  24. He's so far off the pace again. The difference in the press is massive, we can barely get out of our own half.
