  1. They're settling now and I think they'll begin to pull away. I think we might regret not taking advantage of the opportunity to win at the Dingledome. That said, BBC also suggested they got away with another decision in the build up to the goal.
  2. It does seem odd on the face of it, going all out to get players like Gueye and Cantwell to keep the ball higher up the field and then sit on the edge of our own box at home against a mid to low table side. That surely can't have been the plan coming into the season? I'll take what points we can get of course, but it does worry me that we lack the nous to put our foot down on our own turf.
  3. Weirdly I think counterattacking has been our best look for a number of years now, despite the lack of pace. That said, Eustace seems to like us to sit further back than I'm comfortable with, and at home it's a bit of an odd choice. We'll see in an hour or so if it was the right one.
  4. I can only think that the Wahlstedt experiment has made some people wary. That said, I'd love to know how many point Pears has cost us just through individual errors in his Rovers career, must be at least 10 points a season I'd have thought.
  5. I sit next to a Swansea fan at work, anything but a loss but we could really do with a win - we can't afford to let the malaise of the last two games fester.
  6. It always a feels a bit like when Preston try to big up the games with them as the biggest of deals when ultimately the vast majority are focused on the Burnley games more. I wasn't that attuned with the news and all that as I was quite young when Sven and Capello were appointed, was the media backlash like it has been the last couple of days? The right wing rags, radio shows and even Sky Sports seem to be posting nothing but different people complaining about it with differing degrees of vitriol. Honestly some of the stuff has seen has crossed the line into just nasty, ultimately whether you like him or not he's still the England manager. Seen people say they'd rather we won nothing with an English manager - it's pathetic.
  7. I'd have taken Mourinho, box office and a pedigree in navigating knockout tournaments. For me Tuchel is about as good as we could have got, we were never getting Pep and as others have said, has experience with prima donnas and the English media.
  8. I think Carsley has made it very clear that he cannot organise a defence in the slightest.
  9. It's amazing that we supposedly have so many world class creative players yet all they do is pass slowly forward, turn around and pass slowly back again. It's been a problem for a while, we created nothing the entire Euros either. Compare that to Spain for example who were explosive with their attacking and caused constant issues for their opponents.
  10. Players have club football that gives them the experience and knowledge to help bridge the massive gap between youth and adult football. Someone who manages the youth sides doesn't have another gig on the side that bridges the knowledge gap. For me (though he did of course manage some clubs) this is one reason Southgate didn't work out. He was constantly out-managed in big games.
  11. I don't follow this argument really, there isn't necessarily an issue with not playing two holding midfielders, just play a normal formation instead of that abomination last night. 7 midfielders plus 3 defenders who want to be midfielders and not a single on of them actually playing in midfield! If the score had been 5-0 it wouldn't have been undeserved, but this is why you don't just choose someone because they used to work with the kids. Still think Wharton is the answer, but that Palace move may actually stunt his progress on the international stage unless City take a punt.
  12. 8th in the league means nothing when we're not even a quarter through the season... for exactly the same reason Eustace's record at Birmingham last year is not indicative of him being the messiah some would have you believe. The table is so bunched up it is heavily swayed by fixture difficulty, and ours has not been that hard.
  13. Explains why he fits Swag perfectly. Someone explain to me why the club expects people to fork out hundreds if not thousands of pounds throughout the season when this attitude seeps out of every pore of the club. Away at a team at the top of the league that would make sense, away at Plymouth though? Then the second question comes - the plan was not to concede, and then we did anyway, but the plan stayed the same 1-0 down? Why?
  14. He also said that we came with a gameplan not to concede and that we conceded uncharacteristically. Sounds like there was no real plan to attack, just to sit back and hope for the best. Talks complete and total guff.
  15. Prediction: That's the last we'll see of the Top 6 this season.
  16. Abysmal performance but if that secures a point we'll take it. Big, big international break coming up because the fixtures on this side of it were much kinder than what is to come.
  17. I was hoping we'd turned over a new leaf this season following how poor I though we were under Eustace last season. I didn't expect us to stay unbeaten but at least it was looking like we'd do okay this season. We're now started to see that League One bound Rovers come in to play again. If he's getting tactically outclassed this badly by Wayne Rooney we may as well get rid of him now. Eusless is well and truly back.
  18. At least if Dolan gets sent off JE won't be able to pick him next game.
  19. Spends Tuesday complaining about how the performance wasn't good enough - makes no changes, same happens again. John Eustace: https://media.wired.com/photos/5f87340d114b38fa1f8339f9/master/w_1600%2Cc_limit/Ideas_Surprised_Pikachu_HD.jpg
  20. Another appallingly bad performance. Whilst we were grinding out points you can just about deal with them but if this is the sign of things to come we are going to plummet when the fixtures start coming in quick over winter. Anyone who had seen us for at least the last few weeks would have seen this coming which is why the talk of us being favourites before the game was laughable.
  21. Carter is fine when he's not forced out wide. Another game where we cannot defend. I got mass downvoted in the PNE game for saying both them and the Dingles will finish above us but I stand by it. We look atrocious at present and I think that we will be glad we started well come the end of the season. Dolan should have been sold the second he refused to sign a contract.
  22. To be honest he's been bailed out a bit by the fact that Carter has been shunted out wide and Wharton is our long-term, and McFadz is not really suited to a back four. When Brittain is back then I'd like to see us try Carter and Batth in the middle.
  23. If the were refereed properly it would help. To my knowledge at least ourselves, Leeds and now Preston were robbed by some of the worst refereeing possible.
  24. I guess there is an argument to be made that if the reaction is there then it's fine. We'll have to wait and hope for the best.
