Women's World Cup 2023

Automatic one game ban but could be longer after a review due to it being for violent conduct - so says Gabby Logan anyway! -
Excellent read. Fair play to Ramsdale there.

Gotta say guys & gals, I've had a right good giggle (and one or 2 LOLs) reading the last few pages. Anyway, I've got a couple here for you to try (or not) Crumpet Pizzas - Admittedly alcohol fuelled this one, you know, when you come in and the only places you think to look are the bread bin & the fridge. So, here I am with a block of cheese in one hand, a pepperami in the other looking longingly at the crumpets in the bread bin. Doesn't need much imagination to work out what I did - sliced cheese, sliced pepperami, on crumpet, under the grill - awesome! Next one is something my Grandad used to do when I was a kid. Try not to gip, trust me it tastes great - dunking your toast in your cup of tea (NOT coffee, has to be tea). Admittedly, you do get an oil slick on the top of your brew which isn't the best, but the dunked toast....😋

After reading through the transfer thread and all the latest news I think we could choose from either of a couple of Basement Jaxx songs. Firstly "Where's Your Head At", cos mine's absolutely mashed with reading about Indian Tax Laws etc, or "Red Alert" - No explanation needed!

Trevor Francis - RIP
windymiller7 replied to simongarnerisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
yeah, just heard that on the radio. Christ, that's only young - a year older than me! Sounds like it was completely out of the blue as well. Condolences to both families. RIP Chris & Trevor. -
Blackburn v Tottenham 1977/8 ticket needed
windymiller7 replied to CliffJ1952's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Surely a ticket for this game would be as rare as rocking horse shit - wouldn't a majority of people just have paid cash at the turnstile? A bit before my time (first game in '83), but I don't remember ever having a ticket for a league game until late 80s/early 90s after Jack took over & interest in the club started to boom again. Edit: Clarified league games. Remember needing tickets for cup games against Utd & Liverpool. -
Love the idea of A Day in The life, but might need a bit of an edit to make it the official walk out song. I know it's a bit overdone, but I still love Sirius by the Alan Parsons Project: Also, really like this version of Karl Jenkins' Palladio. I'm sure I've heard it at someone's ground but can't think who. The key is the timing, players out of the tunnel on 45s:

News From Other Leagues

So she basically took pre-season training for a couple of weeks! Sadly, as I suspected, it looks like it was a bit of a publicity stunt. -
Pre season 23/24
windymiller7 replied to TheRovers1994's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I find that quite interesting (in a saddo kind of way 😁), we're using the official EFL ball rather than whatever they use in Austria. I assume that's JDT getting his own way. -

Hmm, Jury's out til I see it in the flesh. Disappointed that Macron have once again not reversed the halves on the back. -
News From Other Leagues

This is an interesting one at FGR following Ferguson's sacking: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/35511/12915076/hannah-dingley-forest-green-rovers-caretaker-boss-becomes-first-woman-to-take-charge-of-senior-professional-mens-team-in-england I'm beginning to wonder if FGR are just on a massive publicity stunt at the moment and this is just one of them, however I hope she does well. If she does, it'll be interesting to see if any other clubs take the plunge. -

BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread

I remember having that pinned on my bedroom wall! It was always a big deal when there was something to do with Rovers in either Shoot or Match. First Rovers shirt I ever owned as well that one. -

Thought this was interesting: https://www.bookiesignupoffers.com/2022/08/30/championship-shirt-sponsors-for-2022-23/ Whilst we're all banging on about who we can & can't get as a shirt sponsor, the above link shows a pretty uninspiring list from last season. Once you take out the obvious ones due to owner connections (Malaysia Tourism, Bet 365 etc), Lotus as an obvious choice for Norwich, Select Car Leasing being Reading based & also sponsor the stadium, and the fact Utilita sponsored 3 clubs there's not much left, particularly if we don't want a betting company. Do I think we can do better than a vape company? Yes. Do I think Swag's being lazy? Yes, of course I do, but it might not be quite as easy as we all might think. Euro Garages is the obvious one, but that's been discussed to death and looks like it's a cultural thing. The other thing to take into consideration is that a lot of companies (particularly of the size we're probably looking at) are currently working on tighter profit margins & so won't have the same amount of spare cash lying around for sponsorship deals as they probably once did. I don't have any background in this type of thing, but I'm just thinking about possibly companies like Toolstation (Screwfix currently invest heavily in the EFL), big DIY chains like B&Q, Wickes etc who did quite nicely over the pandemic. Do we even try picking up the phone to these types of businesses? -
Just seen that Man City's 1894 club (or something like that) are urging City fans to boycott the Charity Shield game due to the stupid 5:30pm KO, saying that it's about time fans were taken into consideration. I hope they're successful as it'd be great to see a half empty Wembley for that game & would send out a clear message. Unfortunately, I can see it being a couple of hundred that don't bother & it won't even register.

Hanson Cup - Can you help?
windymiller7 replied to Riversider28's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
BT - British Transport? Just thinking along the railways line. -
Who was it we played away over lockdown & Tom Trybull walked round the ground after being substituted booting all the balls off the cones into the empty stands to slow the game down as we were winning at the time? I thought it was hilarious! I seem to recall that there was almost a bust up between the benches because of it.

Bloody hell, I thought the Kappa shirts were a snug fit! Definitely not one for the dad bod that one! 😅 -
Yeah, I needed my 4:30 on a Sunday footy fix so watched most of it. As you say it was absolutely mental! Great watch for a neutral though, the game had a bit of everything.

Not sure where you've heard that, but on one episode of Would I Lie To You he stated that he was. The question at the time was about why he once made a Liverpool keyring at school. He was then asked who he supported & said he made the LFC keyring because they didn't have any blue plastic - the story turned out to be true. Edit: found the clip

Actually yes. Utd gave everyone who attended a free hat.
