The re-invigoration of BRFC
darrenrover replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I totally and wholeheartedly agree Matty and thanks but none necessary. 'Last minute dot com' with no planning or thought process will only ever achieve 'bargain basement' and even then, if your lucky. Everything needs enthusiasm and that builds momentum: we all need to get our bloody chins off the deck and crack on regardless. What happened to RTID attitude? That's the spirit we want back. We want to be a pair of spanking new Adidas boots, not white, Tommy Ball specials, with swivel studs with a hole in the back of each boot! (That's today's Google teaser for the young 'uns!) Come on all, FFS, let's get this bloody club that we all love (and moan about) back on the map, play your part please. WE ARE The Rovers!!! -

You reckon? Every plan has multiple parts..... -

You don't really expect an answer to that do you? WE're ready, you can be assured of that fact! There are doers, then there are moaners and others that 'contemplate their navels'. Rest assured, WE are in the first category and if the cap fits, wear it! -

You are correct and things can change! I didn't say that was all WE were doing, it was just something that everyone could play a part in and the planning needs to start now!..... -

You're right but you're wrong: Everyone, don your selling caps and have a 'can do' attitude instead of making bloody excuses. WE ARE The Rovers!! (fecking believe in it, We all do!) -

Agreed Matty but WE're prepared to do it either with the club or without (ideally with!) No matter who's name is over the door, ultimately WE ARE The Rovers!!! (WE're only so many, busy lads and need help please) -
Hi all, I first posted a marker on the day that the 'news' broke regarding the plans at Brockhall: that was never our intention but a 'knee jerk' reaction to chuck down a marker as a consequence of a 'curve ball' that nobody saw coming. Since then, we've sat back, debated and regrouped: The reason for this post is we've all had enough (and when I say 'we', I mean us all). Our view is, that post Covid restrictions, BRFC can only go in one of 2 ways: explode in a positive sense or whither on the vine and die. There is no time whatsoever for 'contemplating ones navel', the time to act and plan is NOW! WE are wholeheartedly committed in giving it our absolute best shot, that Blackburn Rovers explode rather than implode! Ideally that would be with our owners on board, along with their significant financial muscle and the many staff employed within the club, that feel similar with regards to BRFC, as we all do. That's a précis, from Darwen we have bussed people in to Ewood from pubs for more than 30 years, it always more than 'washes it's face' financially over a season and more often than than not, the surplus funds subsidise a 'burster' of an away trip towards the end of the season. We'd like to take the bull by the horns and start to run busses North, South, East and West from pubs in Lancaster, Fleetwood, Blackpool, Lytham, Preston, Leyland, Chorley, Bury etc etc into Ewood and back from the start of next season. When pubs reopen post Covid, they ought to be crying out for potential new ideas and new clientele. It's a 'no brainer'. So, what we are looking for, is a number of supporters, local to each area, who would be prepared to help us bring this together. It wouldn't be too onerous on anyone, we'd organise the busses etc but need 'foot soldiers' on the ground within their specific locality, to source snd sell the concept to the pubs and be an ongoing liaison and organiser. Will anyone that is interested in playing a part, please PM me with their details. Thanks, enough's enough! WE ARE The Rovers!!!

Are you for fucking real? You explain to us all why the post regarding Dacks’ reintroduction to the first team, after a 12 month lay off for a serious knee injury and then being asked to play 3 90 minute games in less than a week, is both sensible and acceptable!? You need to give your GP a bell mate ASAP.

BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread
darrenrover replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I was at Uni in North Carolina then, my Mum and Dad went to Saltergate that day. Only recently my Dad recalled he had to take Mum shopping en route in the morning, in order to convince her to make the trip with him. Me, I'd subscribed for an annual subscription for 'Sports Pink' to be mailed to me weekly and it used to appear in my mail box religiously on the Monday, some 9 days after the Saturday game over a week prior! (Alf Thornton was my hero!) Imagine that in this day and age: having to wait 9 days to see how we'd gone on!? I used to paper my room with the cuttings from the newspaper. I distinctly remember one where we'd played Chelsea and I was proud as punch because there were almost 16,000 on Ewood! Bloody great memories, I love this thread. -
It is with sadness that I'd like to tell you of the passing today of Wilfred Fozzard, aged 91, due to Covid-19. He is the Dad of one of a band of 5 schoolmates who, along with me, have been following Rovers together since 1972. Wilfred was a Rover too and today, all he wanted to do was reminisce with his son about times they'd both spent together, sometimes with us, following his beloved Blue & Whites. Please all, raise a glass together tonight in memory of Wilfred Fozzard RIP: a true Rover! Thanks.

BRFC - The Nostalgia Thread

I remember that game well for the wrong reasons though: It was the first time I recall football supporter violence at a game: I was only 8 years old at the time but I can still distinctly remember a gang of Rovers' fans (Hells Angel types, long hair and leather jackets with motifs on the back) wading in and knocking seven bells out of their Leicester counterparts on The Darwen End. I believe that we had quite a reputation back then (Harry The Dog!) During the first half I'd been wandering about The Darwen End collecting discarded coffee cups: when I'd got 40 empties, I went to the kiosk in the corner, at The Nuttall Street side of the stand, handed them in and got 2 free brews: one for my Dad and the other for my Grandad (The deal was a free brew for 20 empty coffee cups). Whilst I was wandering about, I'd spotted a few people spitting on the floor (disgusting I know) and when I got back to our barrier, handed the coffees over, I 'snecked up' and gobbed. Problem was my aim was poor and it landed on an unsuspecting gentleman's back who was stood in front! Crack!!... I got a bloody good back hander off my Dad on the ear, was told to go and apologise and wipe it off his back with my Dad's handkerchief. I'd no choice but to do as he asked..... Then it all 'kicked off'!..... It was all character building but suffice it to say, I remember that game well! -
Tony, 38 acres divided by 2 does not equal the sum of the same. Never mind a Cat 1 Academy, 89 proposed parking spaces on the 'new combined centre' down the hill suggests there are no thoughts of having an Academy of any description. You and I have both been down there on a Sunday, when the youngsters are playing, you can't park now! We need to sort and see these bastards off, Jack's Legacy will disappear into pockets of folk that have no allegiance whatsoever to BRFC. Anyone who thinks differently, with respect, needs to seek medical assistance.
