  1. In Brazil 2014, Uruguay was knocked out of the round of 16, 2-0, their opponent? Colombia.

    So, word to the wise!

2010 with Forlan, Uruguay in the semi-finals, so, they definitely seem like a bunch of good people..... well, one can think of Luis what they want.... but congrats to them.

  2. France generally has a very sound defence, they did have a lapse earlier but to me, that's a trademark of French teams along with some players almost seeming able to catch passes with their foot.... speaking of which, another pen maybe, no free kick.... really took him down near the box, oh, my....nothing on the Free Kick

Very reasonable response. The difference with resting players before a Cup Final though is that the opposition is fixed and doesn't become more difficult as a result of resting players for the other game.

I'm surprised more posters Don't consider there to be a huge gulf in quality between Colombia and Japan.

Yes, the two should play head to head.

  4. England's match is the last one,  watch how the above words look when we see England win on Tuesday.

Yes, Colombia is the better team versus Japan but Japan defeated them. Opening game jitters I suppose is a good excuse. Japan might really have a top plan for Belgium.

And this gloominess, against a team, Colombia, that was a dark horse to win it all last time and went out in a game I find questionably officiated and only to see who they lost to, Brazil, get throttled next by Germany.

Argentina is a banana peel for France. France should be able to take it.

Ronaldo's tears? We should remember this as well, Portugal to take it.

It's clear, all of these teams to have a lot of potential,  Argentina a bit questionable against a solid team.

  5. Japan may not be as strong as Colombia but Japan has planning and methodology as to where they just might upset that more vaunted opponent. I guess any team at this level is a threat... EXCEPT.... I don't see Russia threatening Spain at all.  Denmark don't look to strong BUT.... I've seen teams like them before, they could probably draw about half of the final 16 teams.  Looks are deceptive.

It's also one of the youngest squads at the finals, and 2 weeks ago no one was talking about anything other than getting out of the group.

Time to stop the negativity and look where we are - we now have an unbelievable opportunity to play Colombia, Switzerland or Denmark to get to a world cup semi-final.

The odds of us winning have gone up dramatically after losing tonight.

England can defeat Colombia,  Columbia only really caught fire against Poland in those last 30 minutes. No problem.

So, the winner will play Switz/Denmark. That is a bit of fortune. Switzerland would seem to be big favourites against Denmark, we will see.
