Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
lraC replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I got criticized a fair bit on here, for my comments on his letter. To me, it was fine to rally the troops to a degree, but that letter seemed patronizing in the extreme and after the crazy goings on with the last 2 managers, he would have been better waiting, until he had some decent results under his belt, before coming out with any bullshit like that. Given the last 2 years, he will only be given a very short period of time, to win the fans over, so not only for the club and the fans, the next 3 games are crucial. Win all 3 and he will have a firm base. Fail to win any of them and I think he will have a monster job on his hands. -
Hopefully, we will have a home game, either the weekend before, or the weekend after, as it will be far better than arranging this for a midweek game. Once we know the fixtures, for next season, it will become clearer, but i think some plans need to be in place earlier than that, so time got our collective thinking caps on.

I know a scout, for another championship club, who himself, is an ex pro. He was looking at one of our players and I spoke to him, a few days after the match. His unbiased opinion was we were second best, but he said despite their possession, Norwich hardly troubled us, so far as a goal threat was concerned and that's essentially their style. -
We got promotion form the old third division that season, so it would be ironic, if we get relegated back there, next season and I believe there is a very serious chance, of that happening.

Realistic thoughts on the future

This is why I have invited ideas. I’m not for one minute saying my suggestion is perfect, but think we have an opportunity to make a stand and a united front. Choosing the date of the birth of the club, can give us some traction, so let’s not waste it. Imagine us getting relegated or going under in our 150th year, either of which, could quite easily happen, under this regime. -
Before the club release any plans for this event, perhaps it’s an opportunity to arrange one of our own. We reach the milestone on 05/11/25 so perhaps it’s appropriate that we use a fireworks, Bonfire, Guy Fawkes theme and seize the opportunity to thank Rovers greatest fan Uncle Jack. Perhaps we can all do our bit and given Katie Hulls WATR role, use her skills to get it out on social media. Its an opportunity to show the football world what we are all about and ramp up the pressure on the owners and Venkys. My ideas so far, are perhaps to arrange for some retro shirts with the number 1 and Uncle Jack on the back. A Guy Fawkes with a Pasha mask and fireworks set off to spark a sale of the club. Any ideas are welcome, so let’s get this off the ground and use this opportunity to signal the rebirth of the club.

Done the correct way, it should blow any plans the club may have, for this significant date in our history, out of the water. -

Perfect. We could make it a bonfire theme too. Fireworks, flowers for Jack. A huge crowd with as many Uncle Jack shirts worn as possible. A rocket up the arse for the owners, a guy Fawkes with a Pasha mask on and a big bonfire to throw guy on. Food drinks, treacle Toffee, Parkin, maybe hosted at the Fernhurst. Lets get this publicised. -

I really do think it is massively important that they don't draw (a diminishing few) in with the offer of an early bird etc. One think I have thought of is maybe a fans campaign, based on the centenary, as it a concerted effort to rid us of the owners and bring people back for one day only, to show new potential owners, what the real potential is at Ewood. Once the fixtures are out and we know the home game, closest to the anniversary of the formation of the club, then a fans takeover, with the theme operation fill Ewood for Uncle Jack and maybe even include a tribute centenary retro shirt with 1 Jack Walker on the back, but sold and manufactured, independent of the club. JACK the season tickets in and WAKER to Ewood, fill his statue with flowers and let the football world know how proud we are of what he did and make the anniversary date, one of real significance. -

It really is a mystery and I wish, I knew the answer. At least we would them be able to understand, what this has all been about. -

It surprises me too, but of course the chances are the owners think it is just another business, where the customers just buy the product, irrespective of the quality. -

From what I have heard, they did bat an eyelid this year and some pressure was applied for the numbers sold. I am not suggesting it did any good, but they definitely pushed back on it. -
Great that you ae posting on here, as I along with many others log on daily in the hope of some news about this and other things. Plenty of differing opinions and maybe the odd fall out, but I think almost everyone on here, thinks the same way about the owners and communication of some sort, seems vital.
-
Is there any way of canvassing the fans/ membership about a none renewal of season tickets, unless there is some proper communication from the owners about their intentions?
-
I love the story about how the name of the band came about, sad as that is.

Ellen Droad might be calling the radio station again to request the joy division classic.

He might need to polish a few from the lower leagues

Looking at their position in the league and Saturdays opponents, is it too much to ask for 6 points and a confidence boost before the international break? -

I don’t think his wife Tess, would fancy a move to Blackburn. We would probably make a balls of the paperwork anyway. -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
lraC replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That is the crux of it really. Whether the appointment was right or not, only time will tell, but it surely would have been easy enough to just appoint him, or someone else, for the rest of the season. -

I fully agree, but I’m not one bit surprised at what is a clear over reaction, brought about by the crazy way the club is being run. -

I actually think it’s more than he fact that the hierarchy have let this happen, than the quality of the manager. Its just another crazy turnover of managers, due to the failure of the club to back, those doing a decent job. I sincerely hope we got 6 pints from the next 2 and it calms the nerves and he is given a chance, but he’s in a hiding to nothing. -

I wonder if we will get another letter from the manager after that. Here are two words from me. Fucking shite.
