  1. I think we would all accept it right now, if it was announced that Mowbray had been to India been promised between £5 - £10 million, plus funds from any sales, if there are any, to build a squad capable of competing in the Championship. I can't see us getting too near a promotion or play off spot, but would be happy to stay well clear of relegation and would take a Millwall or Sheff UTD right now. Yes I would love another promotion, but that can happen for me, in the next 2- 5 years and I would be prepared for the owners to ensure that we don't go bust or be relegated again, for now.
  2. I truly believe that it is important not to forget. Yes as fans we now see the club moving forward again and hope we don't slide back again. These people though are responsible for what has happened to the club and one successful year in the third tier, does not suddenly put it all right. That figure of £250 million to take us to the third tier and back, is astonishing and is akin to Wolves going down this year, instead of up. It simply can't happen without something sinister going on.
  3. Yeah they even went as far fans as inviting fans over to meet them, to show how honest, open and accessible, they were . I wonder whose idea that was?
  4. Yes she obviously new her stuff She did put a statement out last week though remember, along with, some other people, described as the owners. Some people have wondered if this statement was all their own work, as it was pretty good!!!
  5. Thank goodness we didn't have eleven global advisers. Don't forget though Madame knew enough about football to sack a manager for playing the dull none entertaining type.
  6. As has already been mentioned, £250m is a lot of money to throw away. It is all well and good underwriting it to ensure the club remained solvent, but why carry it on to that level. It is almost as though, someone else was pulling the strings. It reminds me a bit of That president in that far away country paying someone a chuck of money to keep certain stories out of the headlines. This could have got all Stormy, I am glad I had a Jack Daniels to help me forget.
  7. So Venkys simply funded lots of OTT signings in the first few years and increased the share capital, or loans. I wonder why they did that? Our first eleven weren't always a global eleven really, were they?
  8. I know one "player" who trousered a chunk and he was better at washing kits than playing football. That signing could have been a simple mistake, but I don't think I''m Myles away thinking otherwise.
  9. It certainly doesn't make any sense, that's for sure.
  10. They had a delivery there this morning and whilst the shelves were being stacked, one of the draymen knocked a pallet of red wine over. Smashed every bottle and now, even a after a good clean up, they can't get rid of the smell of the red wine. The longer they take to rid the place of the smell, the bigger the chance the pub will always stench of bitter Claret!
  11. Ian Battersby is 100% Rovers, I guarantee that.
  12. Here is an interesting article on one of todays red tops. https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5133944/ashes-2017-18-third-test-england-cricket-perth-bookies-rig-plot/
  13. A proper game of football that one, although I was involved in rougher games in the school playground!
  14. Yeah I agree with that. I used to go on the Riverside in those days and remember all hell letting loose after that tackle. The fact that it finished his career says it all and to say he didn't even get booked, makes you wonder what the ref was up to. I know it ended Mullen's career, but what happened to him after that?
  15. I have checked this out now and the season we lost to them twice was the centenary promotion season. 09/11/1974 was 1-0 at their place and the return at Ewood was 01/02/1975 which was the game when Jimmy Mullen broke his leg and we lost that 1-0 too. They were the only team to do the double over us, as we went on to life the third division. I turned ten that season, but still remember it reasonably well.
  16. I nearly mentioned that brown kit in my post, it was horrendous. No need to apologise, you are quite right about the Villa replay. My memory is fading with age.
  17. Yes we beat Coventry at Ewood in the third round, 1-0 and then drew Villa at Ewood. That game finished 1-1 and we lost the replay at Villa Park 3-1.
  18. Yes that’s quite correct, I was there and it was a sickening injury. Our only home defeat of the season too.
  19. I know it has been posted on a separate thread, but for those going, the minutes applause at the beginning of the second half, for a recently deceased fan, needs supporting. Hopefully it will be a victory on the park, so lets make it one on the terraces too.
  20. Another link to a story on the Greek football story. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.eurosport.com/football/olympiakos-boss-marinakis-to-face-trial-on-charges-of-match-fixing_sto6403397/story-amp.shtml
  21. Isn't it bizarre that this can happen in Greece and Turkey, but certain people won't accept this could happen in the U.K? We have recently had people say things like illegal bookmakers are illegal not stupid. Perhaps this in Greece though is totally innocent and no one was fixing matches to earn money from betting. A court seems to be suggesting otherwise though, so perhaps, they had evidence to the contrary. Hope the illegal ones in Hong Kong, who aren't stupid, didn't lose too much,
  22. I used to live in Bolton and was married to a Bolton girl too, so have loads of friends and former in laws, who are Bolton fans. What you say about Gartside, is correct and there were definitely agents in there, having a nice time too. Coyle never knew any of them though.!!!
  23. A little bit neglectful, shall we say, if we are being kind, or down right skulduggery if not. If this was an honest genuine error, the club would have been a lot more open about it, in my opinion. They have chosen to bury the truth and not for the first time, are quite rightly being challenged.
