Bell vs Williams
Colt Seavers replied to Give 'Em the Axe's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Bell for me every day of the week. However Mowbray seems to have the same blind spot with Williams that he has with Smallwood, namely that if they are fit, they will play. How many could have honestly predicted he would bring Williams on against Villa? Not many I'd wager. I respect Mowbray tremendously but he can be frustratingly bloody minded. He couldn't wait to bring him on! -
Why do we concede so many last minute goals?
Colt Seavers replied to Alex Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We won a corner over on the Riverside in the last few minutes. It should have been played short to Dack or Graham to allow them to kill the game with their ball shielding skills, but no one showed for it and it was pumped in the box with possession inevitably squandered. No game management whatsoever. -
Haha. I wouldn't have hanged him. maybe chuck a bit of rotten fruit at him.

All good points David. However, shoving an officer and running off would be classed as resisting arrest, not the more serious charge of assault on a police officer. It is likely that some plea bargaining took place and Dack accepted the charge to avoid a costly trial, safe in the knowledge that a minor sanction would be imposed. Police officers are just like you and I. Ordinary lads and lasses drawn from society to do the job we don't want to do. They are Mums and Dads, our daughters etc. Not there to be assaulted. Mandatory jail is the only satisfactory outcome in my opinion when a person assaults a police officer (which Bradley admitted). I think I would be a bloody good Magistrate!

The person I feel most sorry for here is Mowbray. As if he has nothing better to do than attend Court to beg leniency for the imbecilic Dack. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if we are revisiting this thread in two months time when Dack is up before the beak for the fourth breach; because in all honesty, I have absolutely no expectation whatsoever that he will ever complete this unpaid work. I suspect he may be in jail by Christmas (which is precisely where I would have sent him if I had been the Magistrate sentencing for the police assault).

If all this true then I'm afraid that Bradley is a bit of a moron.

Best Starting Eleven 2018/19 Season

Was chuffed to bits when he got man of the match. Fully deserved and will be a huge confidence boost to the lad.

Love that post, thank you!

I love that you put Greaves in there. He was before my time but I idolise him as a footballer. He devotes a page of his autobiography to extol the virtues of Bryan Douglas who he obviously rated extremely highly, which was lovely to read. Regarding Dack, the first time I saw him play for us I remarked to my son that he physically reminds me very strongly of Best. Same colouring, body swerve and running style. Not as mobile, but if you put the famous Fulham versus Hereford game from 1976 featuring Rodney Marsh and Best into YouTube, Dack is strongly reminiscent of Georgie at that time. You are of course quite right about him being unfit to lace Best' s boots, but in all honesty not many were. Absolute genius. Absolutely love Bradley by the way!

Soon to be old red eyes if he doesn't get that wound seen to.

Tony won't do this, but I am old fashioned and would start our best eleven footballers. Raya Nyambe. Lenihan. Mulgrew. Bell Bennett. Evans Palmer. Dack. Armstrong Graham. Millwall are defensively outstanding away from home and we need as much creativity and pace as we can muster. The loyalty to Williams and Smallwood has to stop.

Garner ripped Ipswich' s genuinely world class defence apart circa '82 (?). He would have bagged a hat trick against that lot today. Oh for that movement and pace! -

As much as I like Mowbray, I think he messed up the first substitution today. Bringing Palmer on when winning was unnecessary. To put him out on the left took him away from his natural position but crucially, caused Bennett to move from the left to the right. Without the hard working Bennett in front of him, Williams was left dreadfully exposed and completely at the mercy of the dangerous Edwards who made mincemeat of him. I suggested to my son after Palmer had been on only a matter of minutes that I felt Mowbray would be regretting the change and would probably like to hook Palmer but wouldn't want to destroy his confidence by doing so. He then took Dack off purely to move Palmer away from the role he couldn't perform and to save face by putting him centrally, off the striker. The net result of unnecessary substitutions was that there was no one left to replace the obviously injured Bennett in the closing minutes. Also the talismanic Dack was sat twiddling his thumbs in the stands (at least, that's what it looked like!) It was an uncharacteristic error of judgement by Mowbray but I think he must really rate Palmer which is pleasing to know.- 602 replies

Currently on holiday in Majorca. Just walked into a sports bar and bizarrely seen that this game is being screened live. Posters up advertising it. It's the only game being shown. -
Very enjoyable first half. We are worryingly short of strikers and that must be addressed. I thought Nyambe was superb. Very slim looking and confident. High hopes for him next season.

Players who never quite made it
Colt Seavers replied to roverandout's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
George Best got 37 caps if memory serves. An attempt was made to get him fit for the 1982 World Cup in Spain. I think George went to Boro to try to regain his fitness but couldn't make it. He was around 37 years old. My favourite ever winger Noel played in that tournament instead of Best so it wasn't all bad. -
Who is this xyz character? Chinese? Who is his agent? Never heard of him but he sounds perfect for us.
