  1. Another thing bites the dust Was nice to be able to hear the managers thoughts post match. I guess you can get this service through Radio Lancs, but loses that personal touch.

  3. It pained me to do so, but seeing as I never win bets, I hoped I'd jinx us to stay up! Alas, not
  4. As with a lot of clubs, players leaving the area and distractions from university, work, families etc really seems to have hit the club hard. I think its reputation works both for and against the club. A long way to go, still fancy Todmorden to win the League, but nice to get off to a good start!
  5. Great to see, my club, East Lancs joint top of the Lancashire League after three games!
  6. As good a player as he was (and he was one of Rovers' all time best) his substitution routine was pure genius. Step 1 - Glance over to bench to get inkling he was coming off Step 2 - Decide to try something outrageous or overly skillful as a parting gift Step 3 - Drift over to the Riverside Stand Step 4 - Look at the fans in the Riverside as the board went up. Step 5 - Ignore the board Step 6 - Wait for prompting or the stadium announcer to call out ''Number 5......Tugay'' Step 7 - Look suprised Step 8 - Remove shinpads Step 9 - Loosen Socks Step 10 - Tuck shinpads into shorts Step 11 - Applaud the Riverside Stand Step 12 - Start the walk off Step 13 - Applaud the Darwen End Step 14 - Wait for the referee to come and tell you to hurry up Step 15 - Shake hands with the referee, tell him what a wonderful job he's doing/done Step 16 - Brisk walk or lazy jog for ten paces Step 17 - Applaud the Blackburn End Step 18 - Wait for ''Tugay you are my Turkish delight'' Step 19 - Kiss or pat badge on shirt Step 20 - Shake hands with the left back/left winger Step 21 - Shake hands with opposition right back as they come to tell you to hurry up Step 22 - Applaud Jack Walker Stand Step 23 - Final curtain call to all four sides Step 24 - Affectionate handshake and/or hug with player coming on Step 25 - Shake hands with manager Step 26 - Shake hands with all the coaching staff Step 27 - High Fives to fans sitting near the Rovers dugout Step 28 - High Five to fellow subs Step 29 - Final Wave Step 30 - Finally Sit Down
  7. Mowbray at Coventry 2014/15 Went in with 14 games to go. Aim - To keep them up. P14 W5 D4 L5 Pts 19 4 Clean Sheets 4 of 5 victories away from home. Lets say with the added game for Rovers he ends P15 W5 D5 L5 Pts 20 Would 49 points keep us up?
  8. I got on 4/1 at Paddy Power. Only a tenner, but felt it was a sound bet. Setting up an account and spending £10 gave me £30 in free bets. Put £10 (of the free bet cash) on Danny Graham to finish Top Goalscorer in the Championship (e/w) so basically to finish top 4. at 50/1 Currently 6th with 11 goals.
  9. Going against my minimum of 10 games rule.... All from the 2012/13 Season ~ All played at least once...... Diogo Rosado Paulo Jorge Cameron Stewart David Bentley (heart wasn't in it) Simon Vukcevic DJ Campbell Edinho Junior Karim Rekik Anton Forrester
  10. That whole Netherlands squad was tipped for huge things, all flopped. Maduro, Pieters, Royston Drenthe, Ryan Babbel, Daniel de Ridder, Tim Krul, Zuiverloon
  11. To be fair to Alan Fettis, he was 3rd choice, only played because Flowers and Filan got injured. It would be like judging Andrew Fisher in goal for us, in the Premier League! Goalkeepers, ONLY REGULARS list (1992-present) 1. Friedel 2. Filan 3. Flowers 4. Robinson 5. Mimms 6. Steele 7. Kean Others (in no order) - Brown, Eastwood, Fettis, Sandomierski, Raya, Kelly, Enckleman, Bunn
  12. Some awful payers played under 10 times, or on loan. I saw Javier de Pedro's entire Rovers career, 45 mins at home to West Brom, opening day of the 2004/2005 season, then 30 odd minutes Arsenal away a few days later. That was it! A minimum of 10 games is a fair qualifier, thus ruling out Fettis, the Portugeezers and Paul Taylor!
  13. Inspired by a thread on the Football365 Forum.......''Worst Ever XI'' I have dug up this beauty from 11 years ago, partly to see what people said 11 years ago, and also to see how little we knew back then that those would be 'the good old days' of recent times. Pre Venkys, a phrase that will only be exacerbated as time goes on. Please enjoy reading back through the comments, some funny in our current situation, some obviously that won't have changed. As for worst XI, any team nowadays Based on several (or alas) more appearances..... Steele. Henley-Peacock-Rekik-Williams. Etuhu-Lowe-Petrovic. Goodwillie-Brown-Varney
  14. Why couldn't they put the gantry on the roof? Would still be lower than in the JW, and wouldn't impact on any supporters views. Being in the Riverside myself for some 20 years, I love my seats. They are MY seats!!! To move elsewhere would not only annoy me, but also raise the question of whether or not I should renew in the first place. This is going to cause problems, particularly on Saturday, when people get to their seats, only to realise their view is now compromised. I'm expecting angry faces in the Riverside on Saturday!
  15. After checking TripAdvisor, my sister and I saw the ''best'' restaurant in Blackburn was The Observatory pub, up near the Hospital. I was sceptical, but we both had a great meal and well worth a trip. Nice clean surroundings, great staff, not a massive choice on the menu, but the pub classics. Deserts were very nice too! A decent pub tea for anyone who wants to try somewhere new.
  16. Its definitely worth a watch and definitely a decent movie, I guess with Nolan attached and the sheer scale of the project its open to criticism. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czanl5Twq-8
  17. Watched Interstellar over Easter....hmmm I can't decide whether it was a tour de force or a bit of a let down? I suppose you can't argue with the ambition of the project, the scale of the set pieces and the thought provoking scientific parts, but was the storyline a bit of a stretch to far? Intrigued to know what others thought.
  18. Spot on. I think he's going back to play Sunday football. No doubt if he's good enough he'll get scouted again and will get another crack. I think he's only 12/13 so time is on his side. I remember watching our youth team about 10 years ago or so when my age group was 17-18, knew four or five of the lads in the team so watched quite a few of their games. I remember we had a decent team that won the Academy league. Part of that squad was Kevin Pezzoni, who later went on to be ''bullied'' out of football, so I'll choose my words carefully, but talk about a player who got by on being big and tall. He was clearly the weakest member of that squad, yet I think he's one of the few who actually went on to play at a decent professional level.
  19. A friend of mines son (was at Liverpool) went for a trial at Rovers. I saw him the other day and asked how he got on. He didn't get offered the chance to join the academy, the reasons given......''whilst technically he's one of the best players we've seen for his age, but he's not the sort of player we are after as he's not tall enough.'' A sad indictment of the current academy system, not only at Rovers but across the UK. And we wonder why we never win anything on the world stage.
  20. My recent viewings Noah - Don't bother - 3/10 Anchorman 2 - Ok, not as quotable as the first film, Very silly in parts, but watchable - 5/10 Gravity - Excellent - 9/10 Philomena - Tough watch at times, but a good film, great acting from Coogan and Dench. 7/10 Enemy Mine - An older film (80s) but under-rated, good message. 6/10 The Fisher King - Another older film. Different, but enjoyable, 7/10 Saving Mr Banks - Whimsical, good family movie, more good acting. 7/10 On the slate for the coming weeks The Butler 12 Years a Slave X Men: Days of Past
  21. As I mentioned a few weeks back, would be great if the fans sang this....
  22. Was up at the Millstone in Mellor last Saturday, the food was excellent as usual. But I'd like to tip my hat to the staff/management, my sister feinted and hit her head so an ambulance was called. The staff were professional and allowed all parties to keep their dignity. I can't thank them enough for their help. I'd also hazard a guess that no one else in the restaurant saw/heard the commotion thanks to their swift yet discreet actions.
