  1. Watched Book of Eli last night with Denzel and Gary Oldman, not a bad film actually, certainly something different. With a few twists along the way.
  2. Haha I watched Independence Day in America all those years ago, and at the end of the film the audience clapped and started shouting U-S-A! U-S-A! it was hilarious. Saying that, I do love the film!
  3. Saw Back to the Future at the cinema last night. I'm probably being massively biased because its my favourite film, but I loved it! I would certainly recommend anyone who loves the film or hasn't seen it to go watch it at the cinemas. One thing I did notice was that the atmosphere in the cinema was great, because everybody knew what was coming and knows the characters, there was laughing and cheering throughout! Great stuff. Also for someone who has watched the film hundreds of times, I still noticed some new things, as the quality of the digital/blu ray is excellent. Its on limited release so make sure you go see it! "Are you telling me that you built a time machine?............OUT OF A DeLOREAN?!!!!"
  4. I'm on a similar quest Glenn One of the best films I've watched recently is 12 Angry Men. Got A fistful of Dollars and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly lined up on Sky+ Interesting list, of course no list is perfect, but this is one of the better ones. Empire Top 500 Talking of favourites, Nice to see my favourite film of all time makes number 23! I feel vindicated! And great news for fellow fans Back to the Future - back in cinemas!!
  5. Watched The Demolition Man last night for the first time, great film! Really good action and comedy. Also Sandra Bullock is just unbelievably hot in the movie. Its doing the rounds on Sky at the moment, if you see it, its worth a Sky+
  6. Anyone seen The Expendables? Heard its a shocker!
  7. Thanks for posting this. Had the videos when I was a kid, and always watched them in the Summer holidays, so much so that I wore the 92/93 and 93/94 videos out. Obviously a lot of the grounds have changed, but two things that did make me chuckle. No coloured boots and corner flags on the halfway line!! Where did they go?
  8. I love its a wonderful life as well, seeing it in colour is wrong! I'm pretty sure Jimmy Stewart and much of the cast campaigned against colourising films.
  9. Went to see Inception the other day. A good film, but take a cushion! WARNING!!!!!!!! SPOILERS In your opinion, does the spinning top drop at the end or not? Personally I think it does, and is just there to frustrate you!
  10. The curry half mile on Blackburn Road in Darwen is your best bet. Sukhi's Anaz Akash All within yards of each other. Never been to Sukhi's, but would say that Anaz is posher and slighlty more expensive than Akash, but will no doubt be corrected when the Darreners read this message.
  11. Watched a couple of documentary films recently that were both terrific. King of Kong, a story about one mans (Steve Wiebe) quest to break the record for arcade style Donkey Kong. and Chasing Ghosts, a story about the rise of competitive gaming in the US from the late 70s to mid 80s. More details see wiki pages. Both were really enjoyable though, a real life look at people's lifes and how competitive life is. The King of Kong Chasing Ghosts Anybody on here seen either film?
  12. Goodfellas was on ITV4 last night and is always a treat. No doubt it will be doing the rounds on ITV 2/3/4 for the next few weeks, if you get a chance see it.
  13. Had pub lunch up at The Traders Arms in Mellor on Saturday. As solid as ever. I had a lovely BLT sarnie, although my uncle's cheese and onion pie looked amazing!
  14. I thought Quantum was a very poor film. Basically no storyline just Bond trawling the globe and killing people before he gets to know any information. Plus Bond needs gadgets (Although, I agree, not an invisible car!!) and girls. Thats part of the charm of the movie. Daniel Craig was wooden as well in QoS after being quite likeable in Casino Royale. In other news Shrek 4 trailer looks good, hope its a fitting end to a decent franchise. Shrek 1 and 2 are great films. What is Hot Tub Time Machine like? Looked really funny on the trailers, although I've heard mixed reports.
  15. For Robin Hood watch Prince of Thieves!! Not a massive Russell Crowe fan to be fair, but this seems an attempt to make the character a bit more gritty and menacing, ala The Dark Knight and Casino Royale. The growing trend of everything trying to be like the Bourne trilogy is getting tiresome, characters like James Bond need to be suave and slightly corny not menacing and rigid.
  16. Leeds sang all the way through the minutes silence for Matt Busby. I remember Gordon Strachan (a Leeds player at the time) shaking his head in disgust.
  17. Tell him he can join the Hammers at 15:01 on Saturday afternoon.
  18. I have always liked Benni, but, I think its time he moved on. He has harboured for a move for a while now, and given his age and temperament, £2.5m - £3m is good business for Rovers. Rovers are clearly trying to lower the average age of the squad and with youngsters like Kalinic and Olsson coming through they deserve a chance to shine. A 32 year old with limited motivation and little or no pace is only going one way.
  19. I was similarly un moved, however I flicked around and ended up watching the Athletic Bilbao Europa League match on ITV 4, and it was a really good game. Bilbao where terrific to watch and have plenty of skill, pace, movement and refreshingly a home grown team of players born local and playing for the name on the front of the shirt rather than the back. They demolished a poor side, but unlike Liverpool, they did it with style, creativity and flair. If you get a chance to watch them then do. They are like Arsenal but without the nasty streak. Also, I believe I saw a future star, 16 year old Iker Muniain (Maybe he's known to the FM lot?) he was outstanding. A second striker who was a cross between Xavi and Arshavin, took his goal very well and generally impressed from start to finish. Remember the name IKER MUNIAIN
  20. Anyone seen GI Joe yet? Any film with Sienna Miller in tight black clothing cant be too bad! Also want to see Bruno
  21. Spread Eagle at Sawley is a great restaurant. I go every year for a christmas meal there, and its never let me down. If you go try the English classics desert, you get a mini apple pie and ice cream, a mini trifle, mini strawberry mouse and something else, plus when yours arrives everyone else will be jealous.
  22. Thanks Andre. Best of luck back in Holland, look forward to seeing you again in South Africa.
  23. As much as I dont like Chelsea or Drogba, no one can deny they were hard done too. Hope United can beat Barcelona.
