  1. Just thinking out loud here. Is it possible we've been interested in some players abroad but ala Gallagher, have decided to try and wait it out to keep the price down? Difference being is we are coming to the end of the window whilst European clubs have a few weeks longer, So they're in no hurry to sell at a reduced rate. Maybe I'm giving TM too much slack. Either way, I'll be well within my rights to judge next week and fingers crossed we pull something out the bag before then.
  2. I'm glad he's stopping around. It does appear we have a crop of youngsters coming through who can play at this level and maybe higher. I'm all up for seeing some of these kids play. Buckley has me as excited as the first time I saw Duff play. Different positions and styles, but clearly good technique and a good brain for a young lad. He's probably bound for better things than Blackburn Rovers if he continues his upward trajectory, but I'm hoping we get to watch a decent chunk of his progression at Ewood.
  3. Rothwell for Armstrong Nyambe for Bennett Brereton for Graham (based on pre season) 2 of the other back 4 need replacing, but the fact we have no-one on the bench really suitable, shows we need defenders fast.
  4. Tony looks more like a parkin man to me.
  5. That's one I wouldn't understand. Now Gally's through the door, it's time to look at a GK and CB, in that order.
  6. Good luck to the lad, he's got a decent stature if he can learn how to use it. Seems as though he did hold out to join us if the rumours about Brentford, Bristol, etc being interested were true, which is great to hear.
  7. Chuck Smallwood in the deal as well to seal it? We don't make a fee on Smallwood, but how many offers will there be? Plus, a set of wages off the books.
  8. Mentioned by someone on Twitter I think, and it's snowballed from there really.
  9. If that happens to be true and we somehow happen to pull it off. Then I think everyone could agree that's a game changer. Excellent signing and a good age. My only worry is would the price interfere with sorting the real problem out (defence). Or are we going to see these once a summer "marquee"* signings as an added bonus? We can dream huh. *I'm classing Brereton in that bracket since we spunked £7m on the lad. Despite his limited return so far.
  10. I do think someone like Garry Monk could get a better tune out of these players than Mowbray as it stands.
  11. Then come out and say you're working with one arm behind your back.
  12. The relative silence could be seen either way. From the good perspective, we've got targets and figures in hand and we're keeping it all under wraps to protect the deals. Bad perspective, the fax machines broken again. He has the window to keep my faith.
  13. The only 100% factual part of that post, is that Mowbray travelled to Holland. The last part is conjecture.
  14. Norwich are where they are because they have an identity. We don't, we chop and change so much, theres no fluidity. Their 2 full backs will scare a few players next season.
  15. great save, covering up the fact he should have gone for it in the air.
  16. Agreed, delivers his opinions well and Iusually agree with him. Thought he was mainly a PL reviewer, but seems to know CH too.
  17. Mowbray, please end this right back experiment.
  18. Williams has cleared up 2 or 3 situations at the back. He looks more natural at CB.
  19. Best thing Travis has done all game.
  20. I wouldn't take 50's with how we've performed so far.
  21. Which makes it all the more confusing why we're tripe at the back, considering Mowbrays very decent career as a centre half. That back line of ours too often look like a bunch of strangers rangled off the street.
  22. Reminds me a bit of the Pedersen situation when he first signed. Sparky knew what to do with him, guess we have to hope Mowbray can do the same.
  23. But clearly outside of the funds we had available. As he said, clubs, players and agents were trying to rinse every penny. Summer is the time.
  24. I'd probably agree with you there. I don't think he is. However I agree with the sentiments that we aren't ready to go up yet, the results alone show that. But in a way, I'd rather not do this season. This is the first time in a long time I can see some sort of plan at Ewood, and that is largely down to Mowbray. The players we've brought in, the team spirit, the gradual introduction of some of the youngsters - it's a far cry from dicking 80k on Etuhu and Murphy. The team needs help as Mowbray has said before, today it showed. But let's give the guy a chance to build a proper challenging championship team (the summer window and next Jan) before we start looking elsewhere.
