Absolutely looks like he fell in our lap rather than having a plan in place to get him - or someone like him. However, we all know Venkys don't have a plan and if they did how the fuck has that worked out of the last 12 years? Really hoping we've stumbled across a gem as if it works out it doesn't matter how we got there.

Very hard to gauge if it's a good appointment or not based on JDT's history. Overall though I feel it could have been a lot worse - Grayson, Woodgate, Cocu etc Still feel we'll never get back where we want to with the owners and their set up but I would file this appointment (when confirmed) under 'pleasantly surprised'.. Let's see where we are in 6 months.

He must have asked who we were looking at and the timelines or he wouldn't have taken the role, right?

Feels like lazy journalism to me. Broughton wasn't first choice and wasn't mentioned before being appointed so no doubt it'll be the same for the manager.. though I can't think of anyone that hasn't been mentioned, in fairness!

I think our last hope of anyone decent being employed is probably Critchley or Ainsworth. Neither of them are established enough to demand more than what they'll get from Venkys as owners.. well not to start with anyway, give it a few months and they could quite easily fuck it off.
