  1. I thought Martin O'Neill was a good pundit at the 2014 World Cup for ITV, often putting know-nowt World Cup winners (Cannavaro and Vieira) in their places. Memorably: 'I've not won the World Cup, and Fabio reckons I've never played. But I've won 2 European Cups, how many have you superstars won?'
  2. Ironically makes them an even better fit for us. Football owners with morals, who prioritise family values.
  3. After being somewhat spoiled by Gary Neville for a few years, I find it difficult to watch many pundits now. I like Souness, and always enjoyed Salgado on Revista de La Liga.
  4. The plan at left back should, imo, be to get in an experienced left back (Douglas, Cunningham etc) that can pass the torch to Lewis Thompson. Bell should strictly be a backup at this point, albeit he's played better by virtue of the goalkeeper acting as a 3rd centre back, freeing the full backs to push up to 'defend in midfield' rather than focus on defense.
  5. Not a phrase I thought I'd ever read. What a plank he was.
  6. My grandad would pass a ball quicker than Walton and he died in 2004!
  7. Not doubting it, but what actually is a 'homophobic gesture'?
  8. What a difference he's made in the 'quarterback' position. I think it's the new Tugay hair. Definitely the hair.
  9. Are you two the same person?
  10. Sorry to be a pendant, but a haiku is 575, that's 585 *dons tin hat*
  11. Dack would work in the Rothwell role imo. We can see his effectiveness in bursting forward and playing the final ball, as well as finishing, but we also know he can keep the ball. I'd propose a flexible 433/4231 with Dack in the thick of it: Kaminski Nyambe Lenihan Ayala JRC (bear with me) Johnson Dack Holtby Dolan Armstrong Chapman When attacking, either fullback can support the midfield. When defending, we have 3 players pacey enough to get back AND capable of bursting on a counterattack. Scope is there to change where needed to a more direct 442 by replacing either winger with Gallagher.
  12. I do wonder if the newly-found 'quarterback' role for Holtby ought to be Buckley's?
  13. It's what Ancelotti said about Garbutt.
  14. Norwich, pre-Boro. Was teammates with Bennett and Johnson at the time.
  15. Only one I can recall at Rovers was Salgado. Clearly world class in every aspect, but even for him a lack of pace due to age really held him back.
  16. Have to say I think this is as good a signing as when we signed Craig Short, and possibly more important.
  17. Oh FFS, that's that deal down the swanny...
  18. You have your face in your avatar, I've known who you are for 6 years ??
  19. Chucked £20 out tonight, sod the bet. Feeling in a good mood. £5 each to: Diabetes UK Alzheimer's Society MND Association NDCS I'll do the same again if we finish above Boro come the season end. Screenshotted this post with an alarm as a reminder
  20. I'm deaf myself Deaf services have been stripped to the bone by Conservative austerity policy, with Deaf and SEN Schools closing, and even the century+ old East Lancs Deaf Society closing its doors last year. Deaf children need help now more than ever, lest they get left behind by lack of access to education. /preach
  21. Text from my dad: 'If he's put Corpotate above fans, then I'm not going to Ewood again. I had this shit in 1960.'
  22. Charity fiver? Name your charity and I'll pledge £5 if we finish above Boro. If they finish above us, will you pledge to National Deaf Children's Society?
  23. Way to disrespect Gillingham too. Souness managed to keep it classy when we signed Stead from then-Div4 Huddersfield.
  24. Refreshing honesty
