Looks like quite a number of posters on this site may be proven right: We should've taken Shelvey.

My players of the tournament so far are Kane and Maguire. Consistently strong positionally as well as on the ball. Trippier too has been a revelation at rwb but was badly at fault for the equaliser tonight. If he keeps his form vs Sweden, I'll add him too. I'm pleased particular that Kane is showing himself to be so much more than a mere 'striker'. Tonight he dropped deep to help dictate the play to Sterling, Vardy, and Rashford showing just what a real, proper footballer he is. Strong with a cool head too. Proper captain. Maguire too, isn't just a defender. He's able to move into midfield and dominate there too, as well as moving up the left wing. They are 2 excellent footballers.

I liked your post (I agree with most of it), but the bit in bold is pure, freshly distilled, utter bullshit.

IT'S COMING HOME!!! ⚽️⚽️?⚽️⚽️

As with the previous games, I'm impressed with a big unit like Maguire keeping his cool while being pushed and prodded. He's probably what Tiny Taylor should've become.
-
I agree there. Tonight's game is about 3 things: 1. Can we combat their effective directness against a back 3? 2. Can they cope with our set pieces? 3. Will England manage any open play goals, or at least pin back dome of their pace?

And also that he was a @#/? for saying disabled people must be paying for sins in another life.

Don't you mean Novichok?

Oh dear. Gutted. What a shame.

I think he just walked the walk...

Wonder if Mowbray is looking st something like: ---------------------------Raya ------------Lenihan Mulgrew Williams Nyambe---------------------------------------------Bell -------Rothwell Smallwood Davenport ---------------------------Dack -------------------------Graham Just throwing it out there...
-
You might be onto something there! Cross between Danny Dyer and Green Street.
-
I do agree there. My suspicion is that Armstrong will come in as a starting striker, with Graham and Samuel being backup.
-
He contributed 6 extra points via 3 seperate winning goals. He'll do off the bench and occasional starter until he proves otherwise.
-
Well it's 28years since we made the semis and we don't shut up about it.

Hang on... 5-0 in one half vs Panama wasn't exciting or entertaining? This is why England fans can't have nice things. The cream of the English crop is a mediocre team. Getting out of the groups has been achieved, something we failed to do with a much better side only 4 years ago.
-
Personally think that it's just about seeing how far we can go now and enjoying the ride. We have a mediocre team and got out of the groups. For me the expectation has been met. Getting to the QFs and beyond is exceeding that. I feel it's short-sighted to EXPECT QFs from a team that has been poor-to-shite in tournament football for twelve years now (some of that containing far better players than now). As for sacking Southgate? Laughable and even pathetic.

Half a million? I read 300k. I think it's harsh to write him off. I don't think he'll be a great striker, but a useful backup one.
-
Still optimistic. ---------------------Pickford ----------Walker Stones Maguire Trippier ----------------------------------- Rose ---------L-C----Henderson----Lingard ---------------- Rashford Kane FOOTBALL'S COMING HOME!

Sod second place. If we fancy winning, let's just keep winning. Even on the 'difficult' side there's nobody to fear.
-
In fairness, I agree that we've only really outplayed the oppo in about 5/6 games. BUT, that's all that ever happens for top teams. In any given season there are only about half-a-dozen games where even PL winners outclass the opposition. Most of the time it's about grinding out results and breaking down defensive tactics. Only real exceptions would be City last year, Arsenal in 2004, and Utd in 2008.

For those wondering just why England hate Argentina so much: https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/diego-maradona-world-cup-argentina-england-falklands-war-patriotism-a8419006.html?utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1530095280

Ah yes, probably. Definitely made the correct decision and as you say a clear explanation. Still reckon refs should be mic'd up to stadium tannoys, personally. Would alli fans to hear discussion and would also help catch out players being disrespectful (and enable appropriate sanctions, even if retrospective). What would you think of that?
-
It looked to be the refs own decision to check with VAR at the request of the players imo. At least he still got it right but it looked like he bowed to player pressure.

Ask when it comes round, probably won't be til around Christmas. I'd have thought a quick email would get you an answer by next week though.
