  1. I’ll keep my eye on which games are ‘Fans Takeover’ and take my lad to his first games, but that’s about it unless I get a mate’s freebie. My dad’s loyalty (and he forgave the Fiasco Cup Final quicker than most) has gone. He’s 80 now, and I’d like to get him back to Ewood before the time comes.
  2. Hellfire Chaddy, you don’t help yourself. You’re confident we definitely spent £7m on those three players despite being ‘undisclosed’ and ‘we don’t know every detail’, and the only decent source of info with any numbers claiming we spent under £5m. ’Excellent’ indeed. 🙄
  3. Sometimes, people can be disgusted by something they love. Doesn’t mean they don’t love it, or wish better for it.
  4. If a woman you fancied flirted with you for the best part of two months (first made contact with McGuire early December) invited you to her house, fed you a great meal, and described all the fantastic things she was about to do with you in bedroom, and then just as you’d got your kit off, she threw you out the door because ‘actually, my parents don’t want people like you here, so you’ll have to leave’… Would you want to pursue a relationship with that woman 6 months later, or would you tell her to fuck off?
  5. Emptiest ground in the Championship, at the highest base prices seen at our club in many years. Another proud achievement from our owners… AND 3 of the 10 highest away attendances were at Ewood Park. The contempt they have for home fans laid bare.
  6. He’s not played in the prem since 2021. Since played in La Liga, Danish Superliga, and Eredivise.
  7. Brett Baker (coming from Brighton) and our pressing need for a GK might see us move for 32yo Mathew Ryan? Arsenal had him for a season after a lengthy spell at Brighton. Since had individual seasons at Real Sociedad, Copenhagen, and now OOC from AZ Alkmaar this summer after 13 clean sheets in 28 games. Would prefer that type of move to someone like Ruddy. Some other suggestions (not wedded to any): Josh Onomah 27yo, w/o a club since last year, always thought he was reasonably rated? Lloyd Kelly OOC CB at Bournemouth? Or another look at James Hill? v.Unlikely but McGuire, Oli McBurnie, Che Adams, Chris Wood all OOC too?
  8. In which case, we should perhaps try to make only 3-4 better quality signings and otherwise try some of the more ‘ready’ youth players? Personally I’m more than ready to give Gent, Vale, and possibly Duru a proper chance in preseason, and use funds on a quality GK, Striker, and Winger.
  9. My uncle loved working at Graham and Brown because of how thoroughly decent he knew his bosses were. As a grumpy fucker who didn’t have a good word to say about anybody, it’s the biggest compliment my uncle could give.
  10. I quite often wonder if Venkys decided: Well you got those three (Ennis, Siggy, Tronstad) for free, so just keep doing that!
  11. In fairness, if that is the case, I do actually support Eustace on that. This team is missing experience and leaders, and the academy is more than fruitful enough. Currently we have regular for the first team from our academy: Travis, Buckley, JRC, Garrett, S.Wharton, Carter, Leonard, Vale. Some of those need loans or moving on (money in), but the academy has remained a decent source of income in terms of players for the team and fees. Next batch to try and make the step up seem to be (strictly imo): Gamble, Duru, Gent, Haddow, Harlock, O’Grady-Macken, and Gilsenan. With young Finneran hopefully still around in 2/3 years as our next generational talent. We need QUALITY experience, particularly in goal, full back, up front, and one winger. Everywhere else can be upgraded but not urgently imo.
  12. It can be done. Szmodics, Armstrong types keep the system going, while leaving approximately £6m for steadier players. Including free additions, it’s possible to use £10m effectively.
  13. Absolutely. Back then on the day, my dad and I were high as kites that we would’ve bought STs at current prices. Should’ve had a leaflet on every seat, screen and tannoy reminders etc.
  14. Maybe this is how it went? Swag: I can’t cope with doing the job of a CEO properly, it’s too complicated, and it’s too soon to replace Tony, I’m still heartbroken. Can you get a guy in to control the football side of things, and I’ll focus on corporate and admin? Venkys: Yeah, ok. Get Suhail to find someone. Swag: Suhail, find someone who knows a good manager, and let them deal with the football stuff. Promise him what he wants. *Admin side of three different deals fall through in successive windows, causing manager with ambition and wit to leave… Swag: We need money, so thanks for all the good work Gregg. No Wharton or Raya money is going in any budget either. Go gardening while I find a new puppet to blame for what I’M supposed to oversee.
  15. Because I like being reminded of posters who contribute interesting posts, and I enjoy reading your posts about our academy boys.
  16. I removed it myself. While I agree (obviously), I’m not sure it was constructive.
  17. Equally surprising that you believe someone giving you the courtesy of using your name must be due to condescension, imo.
  18. If we lose and other scores remain, we’re in the relegation zone.
  19. An opportunity to repeat my favourite Two Ronnies news item: All animals have been released from Battersea Dogs Home. Police say they’re desperately looking for leads.
