How typical of football and society at large at the moment: the Women’s World Cup thread ending with discussion about the creep that sexually assaulted one of the winners.

If enough Trust members suggest/support the idea…

Only bit I disagree with because surely all players registered to the club should be eligible to play. It’s a squad game and nobody but the manager/head coach should get to decide who plays. -
Brfcs Website being a bugger for me

To add (may not be related): I similarly am unable to load the message board page (https://www.brfcs.com/forums/forum/4-blackburn-rovers-fans-messageboard/) but CAN load every other page on the site. Irritatingly having to Google ‘brfcd transfer’ etc to get to pages. Google Chrome Iphone 14 -

No authority, sadly. None at all. Read the table plan. READ IT AND UNDERSTAND IT!!! -
Most linos are themselves referees.

Good or bad?

On the cheek maybe, but not the lips. Consent is still a thing.

Not had any issues since I started using Chrome, but Safari gave me issues intermittently for years.
-
Safari is a bag of shite. ‘Use chrome’ solves most problems, I find.

No, it’s a really weird, creepy thing to do, and not comparable to kissing your kids in the slightest. When I get excited, I tend not to force a young woman to kiss me on the lips and then claim she was well up for it. Do you?

I understood entirely (although I appreciate the well considered reply). I was just making a geography joke…
-
I… I didn’t think I’d have to explain it. It was the simplest, most inoffensive joke I could think of and you managed to be a curmudgeon even about that.

I didn’t know Liverpool was in London

It didn’t take hours, it took about two minutes, unless you’re an incompetent user of a smartphone I’m not comparing ‘women’s and men’s football’, I’m comparing two goalkeepers and speaking as a goalkeeper (and I won’t lie, it’s also a bit because I found it amusing that their name are anagrams). You have the confidence to describe it as a routine save despite (according to you) barely watching the game, and in the meantime seeing Pears’ positioning AND failing to to attempt to save for the second goal as acceptable. That shows you know nothing about goalkeeping. That Earps save is not ‘routine’, it is definitively superb. She has stretched to tip the ball around the post, having been unsighted by three of her own defenders blocking her view of the initial shot. Far from comparing the two, I believe they are entirely different. Pears’ goalkeeping was substandard, and Earps delivered the kind of saves we came to expect from Friedel. The reason for my comparison is purely because you implied an expectation of far higher standards of a woman’s goalkeeping than you do of a man’s goalkeeping, and I believe it is one of three things: 1. Trolling because it was me mentioning Earps. 2. A blind spot when it comes to mediocrity at Rovers. 3. Sexism. If Pears had pulled off that Earps save and Earps had positioned like that, you would STILL (albeit correctly) praise Pears and criticise Earps. That is my problem.
-
I don’t understand how the same poster believes Pears’ positioning is acceptable: But this save from Earps was a ‘routine save’: What nonsense.
-
Well won from Spain in the end. Earps the only reason we had a chance. Absolute hero.
-
You’re just trolling at this point in your desperation to defend Pears. Pity.
-
That save from Earps was 🤌
-
It shows his positioning perfectly well, and anyone who wants to watch the goal again can do. There’s no excuse for him to be stood there at that moment. Contrast with Mary Earps who has just now pulled off a save that Buffon would be proud of.

No, I’m a keeper every weekend and that is inexcusable. From his original position he should have either attacked the ball himself (brave, bordering on stupid), or positioned himself centrally. He did nothing and froze for a single second, and ended up about 2 yards left of where he should be.
