  1. What a week. Cardiff's equaliser actually puts us back in the play-offs!
  2. Hindered is possibly too strong a word, but it has enabled them to express themselves to a greater extent.
  3. Up to 6th in a really poor (thus competitive?) Championship this year, even taking into account the 'anyone being able to beat anyone in this division' mantra. Real pity about us not being able to get our house in order. Promotion is there for the taking, but persevering with Mowbray and the failure to sign an Armstrong replacement will really come to haunt us down the line.
  4. Thought Kaminski and Travis were very good today, and the rest of the defence pretty good. Ayala has made a big difference to our solidity. Hopefully he can remain injury-free. Attacking-wise, we were pretty poor. Really felt Buckley was poor in terms of progression, and was thinking he'd be the first off. Surprised he played the full 90. Rothwell didn't seem his usual self and the front 3 worked hard but that's about it (and Diaz should have scored!). Poveda and Clarkson don't seem to be any great shakes. The way many of these loan deals work is there is some sort of financial penalty if they don't play when fit. Such a pity because Butterworth really deserved to play a part today. I really hope the loanees having to play does not stifle our talent.
  5. lol...we can dream! Even the optimist in me can't help but feel that's a bit of a stretch
  6. Its always been the case. I remember he only gave Travis, amongst others, a chance when forced to due to injuries, etc.
  7. ,Ever since the owners/Maggott didn't pop Mowbray before the season started, it was a waste of a year. Its probably for the best that Mowbay hasn't had the opportunity to squander the Armstrong money. A reset with a new manager if(when?) Mowbray achieves lower mid-table mediocrity again is probably the only silver lining we can hope for. If, despite Mowbray, the team do however produce something unexpected, it'll be a bonus and we can enjoy.
  8. Shocker! Play a striker in the centre and he scores. What a belter too!
  9. A couple of good prospects bought relatively cheap, supplemented by a couple of loans, and we'd be happy. The current direction is just destroying the future of the club. And to think we spent £12M (wasted?, especially if Diaz leaves on a free) just a couple of seasons ago. If only Tony and his crew had been slightly more prudent then, we could have taken a more measured approach now.
  10. That's what we were led to believe when Venkys took over!
  11. Carter with a good cross in. Gallacher being a nuisance in the middle shocker! Yet Tony insists on playing Dolan there!
  12. Ayala has been immense. It was telling that their goal came when he was upfield on a marauding run..
  13. Been impressed with Carter actually. Looks quite composed on the ball, though shouldn't be surprised as he used to play in the midfield
  14. Obafemi has the potential to do so, Armstrong has proven he can do it. Still, it'd be interesting to see whether he can replicate it in the Premier League.
  15. The majority as a substitute. His minutes to goal involvement ratio is very good actually. Caveat though is the majority of his appearances were from 19/20, as he was injured for a lot of last season.
  16. I remember, after the transfer window and start last year, we had genuine high hopes for promotion. It was just a pity that we had Mowbray as manager and we tailed off with a typically bad run as the season progressed. Add that to the atrocious form towards the end of the season and we were lucky to stay up, and wouldn't have were it not for our start. This window has been the complete opposite, and I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up in a relegation battle. However, the league in general, bar the top 3 or 4, is pretty average and momentum and team spirit can therefore go a long way. It wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that we cobble things together and end up in the playoffs. Ultimately, we do have a good first XI, though injury-prone, and if the young lads step up (and why not considering their exploits in PL2 last season), the optimist in me isn't ruling out a good season.
  17. The difference time away from Tony Mowbray makes!
  18. Brereton 'Diaz' on the back of his shirt- Must be his mother's surname. Imagine he has that on his Rovers shirt next year!
  19. Rather unrelated, but just came across this photo of Mowbray from 1980. Not quite sure what he's doing there, but does anyone ever? On a serious note, surely a 'mutual' parting of the ways is the way forward. If he is genuinely concerned about the way forward and the steps he has supposedly put in place, I might not even mind him moving upstairs and a coach being brought in who has a greater tactical awareness and can motivate the players.
  20. Feel complete apathy towards this, to the extent of not watching! That says a lot in lockdown when I've more or less watched all other football. I know this is sacrilege, but I would be okay with us losing if (big if, I know) it meant Mowbray going. The season has gone to pot anyway.
