  1. Getting sent off for a passionate repost of a poor referee is just one of the reasons that makes me hope TM stays for time.
  2. Had waited for a brammall lane game for years, after the first one they get promoted and it looked like another wait! Thus not missing out on this, even if it’s midweek and I can’t stop for a pint after! Hoping to see a youthful team + one or two of the first 18 who’ve failed to appear much thus far. Would love to see Rothwell, Buckley, Nyambe and Tosin start.
  3. “He’s never looked like scoring” is again an example of a gross oversimplification of a team scenario - Dacks hardly threatened, AA, DG, et al either. The point remains - whether it’s using 3 year old stats or purely his shots/goals/assists in 6 games in 2 different positions, I don’t think it’s particularly fair to ignore all other good aspects of his performance to criticise. As for the final sentence - I assume by that question you prefer to do your reading/posting in an echo chamber!
  4. Didn’t you use the phrase “has done sod all”? Hence why you’d agree with anyone who is solely focused on pointing out issues with his performances, and delving 3 years into the past for statistics to make a point. It’s a rather callous and negative comparison to be making, whether you think it’s in context or not, that’s simply my view. As I said, you only hear that sort of sweeping stuff here.
  5. Refute your own interpretation of my point at your own will. It’s a good example of something he will bring to this team that’ll be routinely ignored. As for stats- 18 appearances split over 4 years in a completely different context, with different team mates, and most importantly - in different “body” so to speak. I just don’t see any value in it personally! Let’s give him a season in this team and see where he is.
  6. @DE. Do you not think stretching the 13 and 6 with 2 seasons gap in the middle as a bit muddling - especially when trying to back a theory Gallagher isn’t going to score goals for Mowbray? Surely, and I don’t see how it’s possible to disagree with this; 2 different scenarios, 2 different teams, 2 different Sam Gallaghers. Has anyone considered we might be slightly defensively better because he’s also now defending the box on set pieces? Just a thought.
  7. Hard work is a pre-requisite, however I would disagree that’s all we’ve seen from Gallagher. Strength, Power, Pace for a big man, aerial dominance, constant pressing, linking with overlap or the other attackers... Was the expectation instant Graham replacement? I personally think signing young forwards should guarantee patience, and that’s why I felt a 6 game in “sweeping criticism” was another typical BRFCSism you’ll only ever hear here!
  8. 6 games into his second spell and JL comparisons comes out. At least you didn’t say Varney.
  9. I’m no manager but I’d play 442 wide with wingers everyday but that’s probably because I was 10 in 94/95.... Realistically though, if I’m trying to include the best player in the team....a number 10 who thrives between attack and midfield, I’d be stumped trying a 442. Hence why I see rationale in the utilisation of wide forwards.
  10. ...but we’ve never played traditional widemen under TM
  11. Goals are confidence too - the header back across the box against Hull spelled this out. Not all forwards are goal scorers. His overall effort, pressing and aerial dominance shouldn’t be ignored for his lack of goals!
  12. Yea but that’s the point, if you judge those lads by their goal scoring chances, it’s got to be full team criticism.
  13. Huge jump from “in fact he’s done nothing” that though RF
  14. A more confident SG for example heads in against Hull, he has had a few chances in each game but nothing guilt edge. Neither has Dack, Armstrong, Graham, Rothwell, etc etc. In both roles he’s performed, the pressing, linking and holding up has been good for me. He is a physical presence most teams will suffer against. Just because he hasn’t bagged, does not mean he’s done nowt, imo.
  15. That’s an opinion, not a fact - and I would also add that I think you’re completely wrong. Example - the goal vs Hull.
  16. I prefer his contributions on the pitch to tabloid / towie trash, I have no interest in. 85 starts, 37 goals. Plenty of assists, performances and persistence. In his third season, I’m more inclined to suggest he deserves a little bit more respect and patience to start scoring again - regardless of whether his girlfriend is a vacuous C list celeb.
  17. Or after a season of scoring and setting up goals, opposition managers are more aware of his gifts and will attempt to stamp him out. Bacuna hardly gave him a breath yesterday. Grant McCann seemingly didn’t see the importance of man marking him in a similar way, and thus he ran the show at times.
  18. You come this conclusion using Barnsley - when it’s quite obvious to see why we’d have less fans now due to the last 10 years. Barnsley for example, most of their history in the second tier. In fact I think they’ve only ever spent one division in the top flight. When we’ve very recently just visited the third tier for the first time in 35+ years, it seems rather obvious why our attendances have gone backwards. Thats not to say more can’t be done, it’s just tiresome to see the symptom of our worst spell in 30 years ignored.
  19. I’m talking about a recently relegated Neil Warnock team in case it needed pointing out!
  20. Inept going forward or thwarted by one of the best defences in the league?
  21. On a different day at Hull we score three shots outside the box, AA bags one of his 1 on 1s, and this argument is invalid. As it stands, my main concern this season was a repeat of the constant individual errors. If there is one main talking point of our first 6 games, for me; we look a far more organised outfit. Thats not to suggest we’re in a promotion movement, it’s just legitimate areas we look better: even if we’re not yet scoring the chances we took last term!
  22. I think it’s a bit rich to ignore everything to favour the criticism for signing a couple of young forwards. Everything that seemingly comes from the club these days references a “learning culture” so I personally can see why they favour investing money into youth as opposed to filling the squad with big wage older lads. The two we’ve picked up by the way, Johnson and Downing - look a damn sight better than their recent equivalents too, hence why it’s rich to ignore those two (seemingly, it’s early days) good signings, to criticise others!
  23. Created some great chances, Sam G’s knock down for Dack, to lay off to DG was only stopped by fantastic defending! The final thing about our defending- we did the basics well mostly. One Bell mistake stands out but, that for me is a much better platform to build a season on.
  24. Thought we did well overall. If Cardiff are a favourite, I wouldn’t say there was a massive difference. Only some luck and heroic defending kept it 0-0. Another step in the right direction for me!
  25. Good to see another youth (Rankin Costello) getting towards the first team!
