Or with 5 minutes research - you’ll see Butterfield and Johnson are mates, and he’s here on trial. We all know agents are involved in transfers but I don’t personally understand the desperation to find or presume nefarious “none-football” rationale.

That does sound ridiculous, although I’m sure (as it was a limited event) they’ll likely offer some sort of recompense.

@jim mk2 @Exiled_Rover Cheers S8- see above. I agree it’s obscene and off putting to think they earn so much - but I’m talking about the wording + motivation for choosing the specific footballer!

Yea of course, just like I could suggest the immediate response of worry seems a weird reaction Especially if it’s based on one line of an interview. Double especially if that man is known to “wax lyrical” and is interviewed every day of the week.
-
This could be taken a few ways. To me it just says “less knock downs from DG” but I’m quite convinced that if we need to do that to pick points up, we will. Surely (like the transfer window), the judgement of any new formation or style comes during and after performances? Rather than having any emotional response to a line of dialogue from someone interviewed several times a week, sometimes numerous times of day?
-
None of us predicted Johnson - I wouldn’t be surprised if GK is the same. That said - of all the rumours, @J*B ‘mention of Adrian is the one I want to believe the most!
-
Does that apply to all the other first and second division managers still searching for new players?
-
Impossible to say based on that but I would argue that he’s not as far away as some may expect. He works hard, looks mobile, stronger than before and gets his head up. On the other side of the coin - he didn’t do much more than Joe Rankin Costello (also looked decent), he is rather one footed and him and Smallwood have the standard “Keith Andrews” cut... Would probably release him on that alone tbh..!
-
Ignoring the standard “Tony only plays his favourites chat” I thought we looked decent. Particularly Butterworth, Buckley, Hart, Brereton - I was quite impressed by Fisher and Grayson too. Downing appeared to play much deeper too - his bit of play with Travis made Arma’s goal. All in all - decent run out, happy to be back at a game!

There’s nothing to suggest that Bauer wouldn’t be another example of a growing yield, especially taking into account our current top CB is probably going towards 10m (my estimate) in value. There are interviews that also suggest he was never a solution for first choice - and since we also didn’t meet a small fee last summer, isn’t it easy to just think we didn’t really want him that much? We’ve had so many different managers in that time with different systems, priorities, amounts to spend, philosophies (or lack of!) - I can find little consistency if I’m honest. As I said, the most obvious reason with the least assumption suggests those players just haven’t materialised - There is also the GK, RB’s, CB’s that have come through the academy - we haven’t had a No9 in all that time come through. If you look at the squad (after AA went back to NUFC) before last summer, and Brereton - many of us would’ve accepted and agreed our weaknesses came primarily on the flank and up top. If we sign no GK or CB this summer - I’ll be pretty concerned, and I think many would be too - knowing the last 20m had gone into all midfield and attack - but I just don’t think it is going to happen JHR - especially not because of some “venky order”..!
-
Another morning, another paranoid presumption. Serious question though JHR; Do you genuinely believe that the owners are implementing some sort of “you aren’t allowed defenders” system? Genuinely? If you do believe that, what are the reasons? Some of the most expensive recent deals are defenders, Mings for example, so it’s hardly down to some half baked profit argument. Surely Occam’s razor applies once more. We simply haven’t, or couldn’t attract defenders we wanted? Isn’t that the most obvious and easiest suggestion? What about the amount of defenders we’ve brought through the academy compared to number 10’s and number 9’s?

Peter Whittingham is on trial at Rovers. Tranmere.
-
According to Stevie G on SSN - he said “near enough done” on transfers, and “players might leave” so I doubt they’re about to give us millions for one of our better players!
-
Precisely I mean, surely the point of buying young lads is to give time?
-
Overall yes - I’d say most Rovers fans have bought into TM’s ways, however you can guarantee there will be plenty convinced that selling their best players isn’t conducive to moving forward!
-
Plus I’m sure they’ve plenty of fans on Brentford FCS.com moaning about selling their best players!
-
Even if we only play 1 up top - simply adding Gallagher means we’ve a better chance of replacing Graham permanently long term, since we’ve 3 strikers in Ben, Arma and Sam who have a the potential to step up. Ofcourse we all want you the replacement keeper and CB but it’s daft to ignore the benefit of having so much potential up top, purely because we’re yet to add to other positions.
-
Personally disagree. Especially when we’re talking about a very young lad!
-
Can’t head, can’t run, no skill, can’t finish, has no strength and is lazy? Im sorry but I don’t think it’s possible to come to those conclusions yet - just like using the isolated example of his good play should suggest he’s going to be a worldie. Im not sure why people feel the need to make such final opinions with such little example. Isn’t it easy just to say he’s underwhelmed so far and we haven’t seen enough?
-
Not even had 5 starts yet and you’re prepared to make that judgement? Each to their own
