How much would 10,000 blue and white Santa hats cost then?
-
Not even a nibble, Boris.
-
I’m very much the same. I have looked forward to games that seasons before I would dread and vice versa. The opportunity to see a few “unfashionable” local clubs last season was too good of an opportunity to miss out on!
-
I’ll try and make this easy for you Boris; I don’t think it’s as much of a problem as people are suggesting it is. One poster even changed his story from being put off by “ticketing policy” to geographical reasons after one response - and another I’m “trolling” apparently, is on his 3rd or 4th account of the year.... The reality is simple. Whilst this avoidable cost might be not helping, the only key hindrance to filling up Ewood is attraction of the tie. You know, you can view casual fans/lapsed fans and their reasons in your own way without needing to be frustrated because I have my own opinion on them...
-
Wouldn’t describe it as an urge, just frustration. I get frustrated at others not supporting the club since turnover x decent decisions = better prospects. Obligation isn’t the word I’d use but I wouldn’t refer to it like a standard “business” either like some. As RF says, I don’t support and have criticised the charge, I just don’t think it’s worthy of the level of outcry. Like I’ve said a dozen times, it’s a very suitable excuse to replace the “I’m not funding corruption” tag of yesteryear. Fair enough on the bank account but you did say; “He has been to more away games than home simply because of the Ewood ticketing policy.” This is exactly what I am saying - it’s convenient to use pricing as the reason at current, when the on pitch product and direction is better in recent times. In your sons case, geographical - moving away. * The last season we averaged 10k more, or 23k was 2008. There’s no coincidence this was in the premier league under Big Sam (who didn’t lose many home games) and it’s also no coincidence we had much cheaper STs and more offers, because the TV revenue subsidies made our attendance money “Chicken feed”.
-
It’s hard to argue with majority of key decisions taken in the last twelve months. That doesn’t mean they’ve fixed their cock ups. Whilst they continue to hire decent people and invest in the team - it becomes less of deterrent to lapsed fans or more casual to return. The price and surcharge are taking up that mantle.
-
The simple fact is the habit will return when they are engaged by the product, not some "imaginative" marketing scheme. I'm not suggesting this is the best solution, I am saying it is not a valid excuse for none-attendance. It is merely being jumped on as such. The perfect excuse now the owners are actually holding up their side of the bargain!
-
Firstly why do you need a bank card when you can phone up, pre order and then pay cash? Secondly - your entire argument about being difficult to do business with is ironically punctuated by your lack of ability to pay via bank? Come on, its 2018 for christ sake. Thirdly - if your son had a problem with the cost of the tickets at home... How on earth is he justifying going to away Games? They are generally the same or more expensive. No offence intended, but your argument as rationale is flawed. I have some opinions about improving sales at Ewood but I don't think anyone can turn around and say the sole reason for not being involved or support is the customer relationship - its not second to none anymore, but its certainly not the joke people are suggesting.
-
I thought they also wanted to boost the computer system for targeted advertising - something you don’t get from cash last minute sales? How many is it putting off then? We both agree it would be better scrapped but the argument you and others are trotting is its of-putting
-
To add - the fifteen quid OG spent on surcharges is the same price as a none ST reward scheme... Which funnily has a benefit that means you can order tickets late without paying the cost surcharge! If the club was “ripping people off” they wouldn’t be offering ways round the cost Boris.
-
I would’ve picked the phone up and explained the problem and my circumstances because then at least you’d know for certain whether there is alternative or if the club are steadfast in their approach in trying to take extra money from you! Maybe you should try that since the feedback on here would be much more valuable than reading more of Boris’s Bullshit It’s possible to pre-order and cancel tickets too. I’m not sure if that comes with a cost but both yours and @gumboots experiences don’t change my opinion that this has been turned into a mountain from a molehill.
-
Strange because I don’t see any valid reason why it should be paid when it can be avoided simply and easily.
-
The cost doesn’t help, but it’s not the hindrance you and others are suggesting. Said it before, say it again; it’s the pe rfect excuse for some who simply cannot be arsed. It’s not punishing anyone for wavering- it’s a cost for not being organised perhaps but that’s about it. This idea that it’s a sleuth “tax” or a way to underhandly rip fans off and thus a crucial hindrance to swelling the gate is utter nonsense. No - your mate Boris the Blueboy Johnson is suggesting the “waggot” influence at Ewood is creating the moniker “rip off rovers”. I asked you if you felt the pricing for Rotherham was a rip off and you couldn’t answer the question. Matty Blue managed to answer it. If a £3 pound cost that can be negated by preordering, joining a reward scheme or arriving 125 minutes before the game is tantamount to a “rip off” or seriously dodgy club policy; I hope you never have to book a taxi in clitheroe...!
-
I agree. I think we will probably see a double or treble deal for Brum/Norwich/WBA over Christmas and one that would suit your suggestion is Wigan/Preston home games 3 days apart in March. How is £30 for any u12 for a half season ticket not a “deal on offer”...? Johnson. A bit of Johnson...! Gumboots never specifically mentioned a ticket deal but your old friend Boris definitely said it was a rip off. Is it, or isn’t it? I think they’ll probably do a deal or two over Christmas, I’d expect them too. I think they did last year? The majority of those missing from out attendance are not “fans that don’t usually attend but would do if something took their attention”. Most of them are “I’m not watching us play Millwall/Rotherham”. Its quite simple. We will average more in bigger games. The idea that the people running the show are simply trying to cash in and put fans off is an oxymoron. The false justification is the pretense people won’t be attending, because they can’t pre order a ticket. It’s a pathetic excuse. I also doubt many of those thousands of empty seats will be filled because we “got local car parks open” or “a half price pie and a pint” You know as well as I do. The only way these attendances will return is success on the pitch. When are we going to stop pretending anything else is as important?

You’re accusing me of moving goalposts but you’re trying to turn this into a debate about chaddy. I ain’t telling lies - there are plenty of things going on at Ewood that make it more affordable, you’ve casually ignored the repeated point about it could still be improved. You’ve become a parody of yourself BJ. The only lies, the Johnson esq intentially divisive #ripoffrovers comments. Not an answer to the question is it. Was/is it a rip off? Rotherham at home is not going to attract big numbers of casual fans Matty. Unless it’s a game that has particular importance or meaning. I’m no marketing or business expert, but I’m still convinced we would’ve struggled to double single ticket sales by halfing the cost for that game. Is it a rip off?
-
Is it a rip off?
-
If less than 20 quid is not a good price, then I have to wonder why 5000+ decided to rip themselves off to go to Preston next Saturday BJ. Hate to go semantics also, but GB said “promotional offers when cash is tight”... I’m quite sure offering u8s free, a 30 quid 10+ ticket for u12s etc is intending to give people more chance to go - not rip them off. So since there’s no specific “fortress Ewood” style deal on at the moment, there are plenty of things happening that’ll save you money. For example, name printing is free at the minute so you could get yourself a new shirt with “Johnson” on the back for no extra charge. When in doubt, have a pop at chaddy. That’s almost written into BRFCS guidelines.
-
Our last home game. Not a rip off Blueboy. Not even in my opinion, just compare it to other clubs. The game before was the same but had a firework display and 1/4 off food/drink. You cannot take it but you’ll give it out all day, nothing changes. For the third and final time, there are PLENTY of decent offers on at the club, they have steadily improved in the last twelve months, and I expect them to carry on. I can’t wait till you’ve stopped pandering to a section of this thread that’ll literally use any excuse they can think of to avoid “supporting” their club.
-
Yea obviously made the reward scheme and half season ticket offers up. The club is actually ripping seats out and they’re being sent to Sir King Kenny to sign for selling on EBay. Try getting to bed earlier, BJ.
-
This is simply not true I’m afraid, comparing to politicians you’ve started to sound like Boris Johnson.
-
Not sure what giving an example of some good *new offers has to do with a racist mysoginstic dangerous moron t’other side of the pond. I don’t need to go back through what I’ve already posted, Reward scheme and it’s benefits, ticket offers, match day events, reduced food and drink etc etc. There is absolutely scope for improvement but the posts I responded to centre around 1 negative aspect being key (the surcharge) and a suggestion the club aren’t even interested in trying to bring back fans. *ofcourse all clubs do a half ST, the point is ours is looking a good offer in my opinion. Like this?
-
Perhaps getting a few of the senior players to renew their deals or “commit” could be a good way to push these out... oh wait!
-
There are plenty if you’re interested.
-
Suhail Slayer, please remember that things are never so simple. If they halved the cost, they wouldn’t double the attendance.
-
I’ve no doubt they could be more imaginative and on the whole cheaper, but my own personal opinion is there’s been a huge improvement in supporter engagement recently. That also coincides with Waggott and a few others being in charge but I get that it’s natural for some to seek out individuals to criticise. This “trying to put people off” ruins a decent argument about how they could’ve made it cheaper and probably encourage a thousand or so more. Its a stupid thing to say when we’ve all seen improved efforts off the field in the recent times. For example for any u12 year old, you could get a half ST for 30 quid - that’s less than 3 quid a game. How is that trying to put off parents from buying their kids tickets? It’s only 10 pound a game for 20 year olds too and cheaper in age brackets up to it, that’s personally wanted to see so I applaud the club on those deals. The 1875 reward scheme is literally 1 year old. It’ll grow but it’s a breath of fresh air already. For me, the most significant advert for coming to watch is to the investment and improvement on the pitch. I’m assuming you and a few others see that as “trying to put people off” too. Thus the reaction to this “inconvenient for the 0.1%” charge is still ridiculously overblown from where I am sitting.
