Took 4000 to Bury last season didn’t we? Best atmosphere at an away game I can recall recently, but the 2.5/3 who came to Doncaster will probably remember that more fondly as I do, for obvious reasons.
-
Just what would I do with that money... I can imagine what people would be saying on BRFCS if I was playing for Rovers though. Think Chris Brown crossed with Miles Anderson, only loyalty could explain my inclusion. Tomphil would’ve already come up with some illuminati esq back story accompanying my signing and Merce would be suggesting you lump on engorged FGS odds due to never actually touching the ball in a game previously... Who am I kidding, think Dack but with Jermaine Jones engine, Andy Todd’s aggression and the antagonising play acting of Ginola (plus the hair).

If someone gave me 10k a week, I don’t think I’d be alive for long...

Wonder if the “fat lass” is coming to support her fella and Casper? He’s got a HAAAAAAAIRRRRR IIIIISSSSLAAAANNDD
-
Surely Armstrong is the natural choice before Brererton?
-
See all my doubt with the Brererton deal is on the actual cost. Im convinced that the fee will only be 7m if we are promoted, certain appearances/goals etc. I just don’t think a newly promoted team is going to destroy all semblance of a new structure (remember it’s only 13/14months from a complete squad and wage overhaul) upon promotion, on a 19 year old prospect. To quote @S8 & Blue “the published fee is for the forest fans”...

He’s been here 6 weeks - on 10k a week + a decent signing fee, you’d have plenty of deposit for a 600k house.

A good scientist will move humanity towards understanding the answers to the questions about free will, the meaning of life etc. By experimentation and research. We know so much more than 50 years ago, but still clutching for basics in terms of space, dark matter etc. Similarly with medicine, we might have some fantastic technology in 2018 but we cannot assume to know every exact cause, or reason a person may suffer a disability. We don’t say “designer” dogs sight, breathing or walking problems are caused by karma, it’s a result of breeding for aesthetics. Might sound like a crude analogy but they are similar mammals in many ways. -
The one I went too wasn’t specifically an away pub - mainly Preston fans. I was with a couple of Preston based rovers so it was on their suggestion. Good beers and food + a piano for after if we win. Altogether now, Bradley Dack Dack Dack DaDack DaDack...!

Didn’t he wish (milo) that the bombs hadn’t been duds, I.e. exploded and killed the targets, including another at a different office? Apologies if you thought I meant Glen Hoddle. If Milo was on the cabinet, an apology and comment deletion wouldn’t be enough of a punishment... saying that, what Boris Johnson has gotten away with over the years is astounding... “tongue in cheek” is often the defence. Hoddle’s comments arent as nasty or flippant, however he was in a different position of responsibility so talking about his beliefs like such is effectively promoting them. Again goes back to expecting more of people in certain limelight, I’m sure if it was a tv star or musician saying what he did, nobody would bat an eyelid. You're also probably correct about this being an ICBINF thread too, since Hoddle is only really the tip of the iceberg when it comes to free speech discussion. -
Didn’t know that! I know he managed Downing before so, as an example would you say he’s shown Paul a preference due to loyalty? (or “reasons rooted” there of!) I wouldn’t say so personally DE. Whoever he chooses on Saturday, I am quite convinced it’ll be down to considering who the best option is from his perspective. On another topic is Fisher actually 7 foot 2?!?!

That’s something we can fully agree on. A more savvy and less ignorant individual would’ve been quite aware of the intentions of the press. It’s hardly “news” that sensationalism sells papers - nowadays it’s “clicks”. Which links directly to the Milo quote - just another Instagram account for making money from hits, blogs, youtube videos and sponsorships. The more people they piss off, the more replies, the more money they make. Should they be allowed too? In my opinion, it should be censored. The problem then lies in where the line is drawn. Wishing death on people is a long way past the line though! -
I don’t agree, Mowbray might over think team selections but I can’t ever recall him picking players for anything but form/impact. Besides what loyalty does he have to Leutwiler? Makes little sense “confused icon”...!

He never had a platform for experience or knowledge of spirituality though - he was interviewed as England Football manager. Much of its timing. I’m sure that it would’ve been glossed over and ignored if he has said it after being manager. Tiered morality is one way of putting it, but maybe a better way is saying he had more responsibility than you or I. Hence his words have more resonance or impact. -
Fair enough in your opinion like. Way you say it suggest Mowbrays a penchant for choosing players for alternate reasons. I haven’t seen enough to judge either but it is encouraging to hear we’ve a few other potential decent options to rely on.

Shakey Jakey... lets leave him in the “why did we give you so much money” column!

Geography mustn’t be a strength since I think it’s the moorbrook and that’s completely the opposite way. Both about 15/20 minute walk from the ground

You’re probably right - wasn’t intentially worded to be as dismissive. However, there is plenty of scientific evidence that can (depending on your definition of the word) prove how life on earth works, however what people personally want to think is up to them. I mean - for me the onus of proof should be on those who wish to believe in alternatives. From my perspective and experience, religious and spiritual types often put the onus on “disproving” suggestions as opposed to the opposite. -
Can’t remember the name, but there is a good pub on the dual carriage way (left on way in, right on way out) that had a BBQ going out back before and after last time I went up. Hopefully something similar to Lamberts first game! Anyone remember the keeper for Preston that day...? He’s made a bit of a step since.... edit - think it’s the Moorbrook. Some fantastic guest ales last time

And why shouldn’t he?

I don’t think he was sacked because nobody can prove him wrong. I think he was sacked because he represents (through his employment and reputation) the interests of millions of people. We aren’t talking about a bloke who dices beef at Holland’s pies. We are talking about someone who had been given a public platform to talk because of responsibility and success in football. What’s that got to do with spiritual beliefs? In that position - you should be a role model for society, and thus expected not to ostracise 20% of the population because of something you believe. At no point has anyone said he “shouldn’t have those views”, it’s about the way it’s shared. I might have specific opinions on immigration, homosexuality, feminism and religion that you find extremely insensitive or insulting. If I had responsiblilities that gave me a media platform, I’d be just as ignorant and arrogant if I started using it to promote my beliefs. The “he was asked” about it argument doesn’t wash, nobody with his rep should be that naive to not anticipate the media are intent on shocking/sensational stories. Plus - I’m quite sure science and common sense can say quite easily that disability is nothing to do with reincarnation. It’s immensly arrogant to even consider that others should simply accept the possibility they’re less-able than others for “karma” or spiritual reasons. -
Surely a poorly coached team like ours hasn’t a chance against ex England “Macca”?
-
I think Palmer will start on Saturday because he played really well last week. The lineup all depends on who is fit, thankfully we’ve no mid week game.

From my perspective - religion and spiritual belief is just utter nonsense. You might not be aware, but much like my political leanings - I can’t talk about my own spiritual/religious beliefs in my job due to possible influence. Even when asked questions I have to be completely impartial. I understand and accept why that is. My choice/belief could insult or cause issue with those I have a responsibility for or can influence. It’s exactly the same principal as to why Hoddle should’ve never talked about such ridiculous concepts in public. -

Sorry Batman but I think people are offended that he shared ie promoted a belief in a way that castigates a whole section of society. I personally find this abhorrent. Indefensible comments from my point of view, and whilst free speech is often trollied out as an excuse to simply offend all and sundry, freedom of choice means I choose to think Glen Hoddle is an utter bellend for thinking it was even remotely acceptable to share such bizarre, antiquated and frankly ridiculous belief. Yes, probably no malice intended, probably just a half baked understanding from something but that’s exactly why I said he was ignorant for it. Still, hope he gets well soon. No family deserves to lose a loved one like that.
