Let me remind you. Away at Ipswich, 90th minute. Winning 2-1. Ipswich player swings a ball in, raya doesn’t react till it’s too late. 2 points dropped. Second game. 3/4 kicks in one half end up in the crowd. Dont get me wrong, I think Raya is a fantastic keeper and potentially even better than he is now but it’s easy to point out that he makes mistakes. Hardly a laugh

You know how often I watch home and away, that’s a battle you’ll be wasting your time getting into Jisty.. I generally can’t see the reason for beef with Smallwood. If I had a list of weak links, Raya, Evans, Samuel, Nyambe and one or two others would be higher up the list of concerns - even though I like and rate all those players in different ways!
-
I would’ve but I’m in wales! Signal allows for this alone!
-
Fair enough I’m not watching it. I’m talking about the last few months really, he may well be poor today. Overall though I think he has twice the bite of Evans, if not the same technique or energy
-
Point remains. Smallwood, (imo) is picking up unfair criticism. You can call that looking for an argument or you can be an adult and accept its opinion.
-
Stop singling him out for criticism then. He’s been no worse than Evans for 6 months, but I think the faithfull seemingly need someone to beef at. In other news. We’ve got Dack in attack and we’ve gor our rovers back.
-
How about “We’ve got some money but we must have switched of our phone”? Since it’s getting to Thursday and there’s none of the “3” mentioned last night any nearer...

Jason Lowe loan to buy?
-
That’s quite a record !

We both know that his head will turn to signing permenant if he likes it here and he gets a chance. That said I agree and hope we have some sort of agreement in place. If Karanka isn’t going to include him, it doesn’t matter what they want for him - if he’s any ambition he will be wanting to move on. Interested to know who the others are.

An Assessment of Player Performance v Millwall
JBiz replied to tonyoz's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thanks again Tonyoz. Interesting stuff -
Watch SSN for goals. Or Kamy’s twitter. Dacks second is brilliant. First touch back to goal, second touch top corner

Last summer was great business generall, in hindsight anyway, but it’s hard to compare when we are talking league 1. Mahoney was one of the many, was it 12 that left? A big number of outs and ins is indicative of a problematic summer! This one (whilst underwhelming) has been a breeze compared.
-
Different debate, you quoted the misery guts above talking about this window being “the worst” in recent times. I actually agree that we could’ve done better enticing fans with a better season ticket offer. Hopefully they’ll learn from those mistakes but as JHR says in the season ticket thread - there’s a trend across a few clubs, it’s our staffs job to break that. Cheap tickets for u14s or something would’ve been a start. I remember back in 2001/02, myself and @S8 & Blue got a season ticket each for 30/40 quid.
-
I don’t think it’s been very good, but I’m not stupid enough to think giving Lenihan, Dack and a few others new contracts and adding some young potential and quality in three signings is “the worst in recent memory”. I would suggest you get a grip.
-
Back to square one? What would you call 12 months ago? Square minus one? I also can’t see how anyone could agree that this summer window is worse than the last in this league.
-
Agree we could’ve used some quality and depth but you can’t really suggest this summer is worse than hiring Coyle, signing Stokes, Greer, Feeney and Wes Brown - whilst loaning a load of premier league players (only a couple any good) and selling Hanley and Duffy? Last season we had to replace almost half the squad. Losing some quality too like Mahoney. We also had a league one budget - all the signings costing less than Armstrong’s fee. So, right mind or a poor memory?
-
How on earth could anyone in their right mind call this summer “worst summer transfer window for some time”.. Do you remember last year when we had to replace 12 players after dropping into the third division? How about the year before when we sold our two best centrebacks? I could go on, but I’m not going to. Try thinking before you speak because anyone with an ounce of sense couldn’t say keeping our best players, extending their deals and adding some potential (Armstrong, Davenport and Rothwell) is one of the “worst” in recent memory. Underwhelming perhaps.
-
They had a few chances but we completely bossed the second half from start to finish
-
I watched the game on front of me you absolute melt. They had a few chances and we should’ve scored 2/3. Palmer scared them to death, Rothwell looked decent when he came on too.
-
That’s nonsense we bossed a top half team on last years table. Should’ve won, graham had two great chances.
-
Everybody is allowed to forge an opinion and I’m swaying towards the idea that we didn’t get a few of those who went to Preston/Bolton and a few loans elsewhere because Tony didn’t want them. I think we had around 5/6m to spend in total upfront and I think we had a few targets move out of our range after we spent some time on them- he even mentioned one (at time it was guessed Bamford to leeds being 7/10m) I even think Armstrong started off at 3m upfront, hence why it didn’t happen until Newcastle started moving a few around and sold Mitrovic. The window as a whole was different. Even Mourinho (most successful manager of all time) at Manchester United (one of the biggest clubs in the world) seemingly stumbled from target to target because of ever increasing costs and shifting goalposts. Im not comparing us to them, but I’m thinking the market is harder than people think - when average/risky players are costing tens of millions, it takes timing and luck - especially at our end of the scale; I’m under no illusion who is to blame for why we are in this position. Thats not to say I’m not under whelmed either, but it’ll take a decade to get over spending more than a million signing players like Bradley Orr, Petrovic, Formica, vuckevic, Goodwillie, Slew, Best etc! Or the frees that cost us 10s of millions. If you go back further, there are plenty of other examples of us wasting money. Ashley Ward anyone? A pragmatic approach is welcome from me. Just to add - I think the squad is stronger than the previously relegated one overall so I’d expect us to be mid table or at least safe without any more additions.

Transfer Window - Success or Failure
JBiz replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No, but does any of the above read as a true story to me? No. -
Super new recruitment system? Quite sarcastic for me. Hasn’t done too shabbily in the last twelve months and I’m not convinced it’s as simple as many seem to make out. Starting with the fact that we’ve never had such an early window followed by a loan one. There will always be something to criticise I understand that, but I think you’re making a bit much of the club saying it’s wanting permenant signings but not getting them - anybody managing any club with a budget, wants good prices, good players, sensible wages and it’s never straight forward.
-
Its fair cop to be underwhelmed, but do know what the word prefer means? It doesn’t mean guarantee. I also know that some of the “hope” remarks came early June and not all from TM - soon after we added Davenport and Rothwell, plus the necessary contracts signed. None of this warrants this level of criticism and sarcastic retort in my humble opinion.
